To think that Pinner must be full of Egyptians?

I've been looking at houses for sale in Pinner. (Don't ask, I've never been there and I'm quite unlikely to as far as I know.)

But anyway, a spooky amount of the houses I am viewing on Rightmove in Pinner seem to have some sort of Egyptian theme going on. Sphinxes and pharoahs and the like. I had no idea that Pinner was the hub of choice for the British based Egyptian diaspora.

Is it? Have I inadvertently stumbled across something, like the Italian continent in Bedford or the Portuguese in Vauxhall?

Or is it all a massive coincidence and Pinner is actually full of English couples called Brenda and Stan who've just bought lots of souvenirs from their Nile cruise holidays?

Also, WTF is going on in this house do you suppose?

Most of the Asian families I know in Pinner ended up in the UK after leaving Kenya or being kicked out of Uganda - maybe that’s a factor in the safari deco?

Lordfrontpaw · 04/02/2020 14:49

Living in London you do get to see a lot of friends' mum and dads houses, so you can see a trend!

PenelopePissedstop · 04/02/2020 14:50

The entrance hall with a lion and a cot? Mindboggle!
A wimaway, a wimaway ... need some where for the lion to sleep obvs.

Bluetrews25 · 04/02/2020 14:53

That mirror is so the menz can check their bald spots.
Downstairs is decorated like an all you can eat for 14.95 Indian restaurant.

CoffeeRunner · 04/02/2020 14:55

Well the decor isn’t to my taste - but the lion & the cot?!? Grin

It’s a lovely house though. Huge rooms & bags of potential.

Knitwit99 · 04/02/2020 14:57

The hallway looks absolutely massive. It looks as big as our entire downstairs. Or is it camera trickery? I reckon the baby would be safe enough from the lion in a room that big

bibblebobbleblackbobble · 04/02/2020 15:24

We used to have a travelcot in the hallway - it was dead useful to be able to dump a small child safely in it before going to unload the car etc. I would worry about the lion leaping out of the open front door though and pouncing on the postman and making a break for it.

FagAsh · 04/02/2020 15:27

THAT'S MY MUMS

lidoshuffle · 04/02/2020 15:31

It's like one of those work awayday icebreaker puzzles; you have a lion, a baby, a chicken and a bag of corn and you can only take one at a time to the car ....

BrimfulofSasha · 04/02/2020 15:41

All that money spent on interior design and they kept the ugly night storage heaters!

Lordfrontpaw · 04/02/2020 15:55

@ FagAsh did she catch the lion herself?

GrumpyHoonMain · 04/02/2020 15:58

Pinner has a very wealthy Afro-Indian community (not just East Africa but North and Central too). A lot of people are either from Egypt or travel via Egypt (and make a holiday of it) to get to their end destination.

GrumpyHoonMain · 04/02/2020 16:00

But no the lion thing is an Indian Punjabi thing. Singh means lion.

OhLook · 04/02/2020 16:03

There are some serious carpets going on in that house

zogezellig · 04/02/2020 16:14

Well they have room for a pony, looks like they preferred a lion instead.

DeathByPuppy · 04/02/2020 16:15

I thought that re the heating too, @BrimfulofSasha.

katy1213 · 04/02/2020 16:46

Dear god, that bathroom! And it probably cost a fortune.

Marnie76 · 04/02/2020 17:08

I want to know how you get into bedroom 2, via the window?!?

FizzyIce · 04/02/2020 17:12

Used to live close by and had friends that lived there.
They most definitely didn’t have a house that resembled the British museum . How bizarre !

FizzyIce · 04/02/2020 17:14

Just realised I’ve driven past this house a few times .
You never know what goes on behind closed doors and all that!

Lordfrontpaw · 04/02/2020 17:16

Is the lion on wheels? If so I think I’d rather like one (not a real ex-live one but a nice big toy one). I would ride it to the shops.

FizzyGreenWater · 04/02/2020 17:20

Why did you have to show me that house!!!! envy it's sooo pretty!!!

WHAT.

That is one of the ugliest most depressing houses I've ever seen!

Just horrid. Nasty colours especially.

Flimflamfloogety · 04/02/2020 17:22

That house looks like what I used to make on the Sims when I was 11 Hmm

Jomarchsburntskirt · 04/02/2020 17:46

Yikes!! Just proves you can’t buy taste.

Lordfrontpaw · 04/02/2020 17:48

As my grandma used to say about Harrods (but mum would point out that you can buy good and bad taste just alike).
