Last night went to A and E screaming and crying in agony with lower back pain. I woke up with it yesterday and throughout the day it just got worse and worse
The doctor I saw wanted to give me antiimflammarys but I have had a stomach ulcer in the past. I also take transfix for fibro but i explained this was slow realise to keep my symptoms under control and it had not touched it.
Once I said this is was really dismissive saying “oh you may just have to put up with it”
By this time I am still crying in agony and my mum who I was with said “you can’t leave her like that”
So he said he would give my a dose of oramorph and sent me home with three diaizapan 5mg and told me to take one a day
That was great till about half and hour ago and I am now crying in agony again. I font know what to do. I am banging my hand against the wall in pain. I had back to back labour and this is worse.

You must have good medical advice OP. It doesn't sound right at all.
If you can go back to a&e now.
I'm feeling very sorry for you. It must be very painful. Flowers

newlifenewme2020 · 03/02/2020 02:41

I just got the feeling he wanted to give me a dose of oramorph so he could get me home and out of his way

Do you think it is worth going back to A and E.
I have managed to get in the bath with my husbands help. I know my mum and dad who love five minutes up the road will come and take me so we don’t have to disturb DS

Red flag symptoms you must watch out for...

Saddle area numbness
Bladder or bowel incontinence
Urine retention

Any of these and you need Cauda Equina ruled out.

Personally I would go back.

OhDeez · 03/02/2020 02:47

were bloods all normal?

Shev1996 · 03/02/2020 02:48

Previous experience, going back to a&e won’t change anything, except you’ll be sitting in uncomfortable chairs for 4+ hours making it worse. Wait until morning and get a gp appointment instead

newlifenewme2020 · 03/02/2020 02:48

I knew once the oramorph wore off I would be like this.

He kept saying “well you haven’t banged yourself so it can’t be anything. He did test my urine but it always fine and I am seeing ok.

Back to the GP.

newlifenewme2020 · 03/02/2020 02:52

They didn’t do bloods. A and E were really good when I got there dispite being really busy. They got me straight through when they saw I was crying in pain. The nurse said they would prob give me gas and air to take the edge off then a morphine shot but the doc i saw didn’t think that was nessacery.

If a presented in A and E screaming and cry which I will be once I am back on my fit would they be likely to give me strong painkillers straight away?
Can a GP actually prescribe oramorph to be taken at home

newlifenewme2020 · 03/02/2020 02:53

Sorry I meant back on my feet. Sorry having trouble typing through tears

OP posts:
Shev1996 · 03/02/2020 02:56

No, actually multiple visits in a short space of time will make them more reluctant to give you strong painkillers. See your GP first and they can make referrals.

RedDhalia · 03/02/2020 02:58

Can you phone 111 and get an OOH appointment?

Do you know what is wrong with your back? Has it gone in to spasm or is it a disc? Any pain in your leg?

OhDeez · 03/02/2020 02:59

NHS for you. It's shit.

newlifenewme2020 · 03/02/2020 03:01

I will be able to get an appointment but not until the afternoon. The thought of being like this for another 12 hours.

The doctor said the oramorph would last last for 24 hours.

newlifenewme2020 · 03/02/2020 03:03

Not pain in my legs at all just all my lower back.

I woke up like this so I think it must be spasm

OhDeez · 03/02/2020 03:04

What have you taken? Can you take additional meds that don't add onto the load?

OhDeez · 03/02/2020 03:05

Like can you mix paracetamol/nurofen on to what you're already taking?

newlifenewme2020 · 03/02/2020 03:06

I can’t take anti imflammories unless it is an emergency and only under medical guidance I have taken paracetamol but can’t take any more tramadol till morning

OP posts:
newlifenewme2020 · 03/02/2020 03:08

I have had stomach ulcers and have only one kidney so anti inflammatorys are usually a no no. So close to just taking a few though.

OP posts:
OhDeez · 03/02/2020 03:10

I can't believe they didn't take bloods ffs. Well, unfortunately, I can believe it.

newlifenewme2020 · 03/02/2020 03:14

I did think my mum was going to commit murder when I said to the doctor I was worse then labour And he smiles and said “oh quite bad then I suppose”

OP posts:
OhDeez · 03/02/2020 03:16

I'd demand an ambulance, make up any shit, just to get gas and air.

ShastaBeast · 03/02/2020 03:18

As ridiculous as it sounds, you need to relax - to get the muscle spasm to ease off. Have a search for a body scan on YouTube for mindful meditation. Visualise your back muscles relaxing. Gently stretch and use heat or cold as preferred. Longer term exercise is key to avoiding this happening, at least it is for me. GP can prescribe oramorph but they may be reluctant especially if you are already taking tramadol. Take it easy but don’t keep still for long, gently walk around and stretch when you can, especially if you get pain relief.

endofthelinefinally · 03/02/2020 03:21

Have you taken the valium? It is really good for muscle spasm. Also, an ice pack can help with the pain. If you can, lie on a folded duvet with a pillow under your knees to take the strain off your muscles.
Those blue gel freezer packs are good, or fill a hot water bottle and freeze it.Take paracetamol as well. All 3 tactics together will help.
See your gp asap.
