To tell the driver of the Silver VW Golf

That she is a rude entitled bitch and needs to learn to fucking queue like a human being, not shove her way to the front of the (long boring massive) tailback we were stuck in. Oh, and the reason my car has a scrape up the side is a thing like you doing exactly what you just did, so take your aggressive driving and FUCK OFF.

OP posts:
needanewnamechange · 01/02/2020 15:56

You should be merging although I don't like people jibbing in last minute, indicate and allow someone to let you in .
I had one yesterday queuing at a junction I indicate to turn right and a car further back behind me drives the wrong way to get in front neatly hitting me when I beeped 2 young lads in front just laughing and drove off . Angry

BentNeckLady · 01/02/2020 15:57

The op hasn’t said anything about it being a merge lane.

IamFriedSpam · 01/02/2020 16:01

Lots of nonsense here. The person merging doesn't have right of way, if they scratch your car while merging it is absolutely their fault! (I always make sure people can merge but there are definitely drivers who think they have right of way when merging and just expect the drivers already in the lane to get out of their way which is ridiculous).

IamFriedSpam · 01/02/2020 16:03

Also there's no indication the person was trying to merge. There are some places near me where of the lanes is for a specific destination (e.g. if you're going through the dartford tunnel) and is backed up. Some drivers take a different lane to bypass the tailback then try to push their way into the front of the queue. If you don't let them in you risk your paintwork and delay the drivers in the lane behind the dickhead driver but if you do you reward their dickish behaviour.

NoooorthonerMum · 01/02/2020 16:04

Also no indication OP is still driving. Why have a go at her for something you've totally made up in your own head?

countrygirl99 · 01/02/2020 16:05

Most people are assuming the golf was merging from a lane that was closed. They might have been one of the dickheads who nips down a hard shoulder to beat a queue. Or the OP might be uptight. We need more details.

Winterwoollies · 01/02/2020 16:06

How did she get to the front? Did she come down the outside lane? Because if so, and you’d painstaking (and stupidly) waited in a queue in the left lane, she did the right thing and you didn’t!

Have you never seen signs that say ‘Use both lanes’ and ‘Merge in turn’?

You’re supposed to use both lanes! It alleviates the traffic back up. Bit for some reason, some panicky drivers like to get into a big long thin queue nice and early and then get cross with more assertive drivers doing the correct thing...

Assuming that’s what happened and she didn’t just go off-road and force her way in at the front.

SomeHalfHumanCreatureThing · 01/02/2020 16:06
Confused
Apirateslifeforme · 01/02/2020 16:08

Had something a bit similar myself yesterday. Some people dont half turn into tears behind the wheel of a car.

CalmConfident · 01/02/2020 16:19

I panicked it was me for a moment...then remembered I have not been in any queues today and I am not aggressive!

HereBeFuckery · 01/02/2020 16:31

I was home by the time I posted.
She used a bus lane to push in, illegally.

OP posts:
HereBeFuckery · 01/02/2020 16:35

It was a residential street, obvious queues ahead due to temp traffic lights. A bus lane (24hr buses only) to the right of the single lane queue. She just drove down it. The bus ahead of me was half in the bus lane and half in the main lane as he had to go around an overhanging car sticking out of a driveway. She stopped behind the bus next to me, and proceeded to force her way in front by driving dangerously close and shouting abuse.
No motorway, merge in turn or other reason, just entitled cuntfuckery. And yes I am going to get angry. Why should everyone else queue and she shouldn't?

OP posts:
caffeinefix · 01/02/2020 16:37

I'd have gone apeshit and not let her in. What a complete cunt.

category12 · 01/02/2020 16:37

OK, if she was in the bus lane then she's in the wrong, but you're still very wrong for not providing a diagram.

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2020 16:38

Your AIBU is more to do with her driving illegally in a bus lane?

IWantThatName · 01/02/2020 16:48

You could of course also choose not to get wound up by it. Presumably if she's driving along a 24 hour bus lane, she may well get fined, and the balance of the world will be restored.

Also ... yes it sounds like she was very much in the wrong, but maybe she was late for chemotherapy, or trying to get to a dying relative, or she's the getaway driver for a bank robbery gone wrong. We don't know what's happening in her world every bit as we don't know how your day was going. I know it doesn't excuse her behaviour, but it winds me up how aggressive everyone (many) gets behind the wheel (and yes, I've have uttered a few choice words too) but on the whole, if everyone took a deep breath and let the a-holes in, or ahead, or whatever ... does it matter? It's probably safer, and you can feel you've taken the high road, as it were.

happyhappyme · 01/02/2020 16:49

This sounds like something from our local Spotted FB page complete with aggressive tone

Ours too, there has been uproar about fireworks last night which degenerated into a popcorn session with Brexit mud slinging. Somebody apparently set off a very loud one which people thought was like a bomb.

Sparklingbrook · 01/02/2020 16:50

Yes @happyhappyme, there has been firework moaning on ours too Grin

KitKat1985 · 01/02/2020 16:52

I have to say I'm never sure what the point of these posts is. It's incredibly unlikely the driver of silver VW golf is on here. Confused

JinglingHellsBells · 01/02/2020 16:53

well, at @HereBeFuckery if she was in a bus lane, she might have been snapped by cameras and get a fine.

However, you really really need to calm down a bit.

How long have you been driving, out of interest?

If you drive as long as I have ( over 40 years) you tend to get a bit more chilled because stupid drivers are par for the course. or lanes.

Truthfully, you are a hazard yourself if you get so worked up over one car pushing in .

Just think- you could equally have thought' what the hell- its going to delay me by 5 seconds' and just let her in.

Think of your blood pressure, dear. :)

happyhappyme · 01/02/2020 16:53

@sparklingbrook I expect firework moaning has been a common theme up and down the country.

Nojeansplease · 01/02/2020 16:56

Just think
You could’ve been annoyed for a second
Then just got on with your day and not let someone else impact your mood so severely that you are still talking about it hours later

Silver golf driver hasn’t given you a second thought.

Crinkle77 · 01/02/2020 16:57

@Sparklingbrook my local Facebook community page had been full of zip merging posts recently too. [Grin]

crustycrab · 01/02/2020 17:03

You need to relax a little bit. She'll get a ticket/get caught and end up paying for her lack of patience. As have you, evidenced by the scratch down the side of your car.

MrsSilverVWGolf · 01/02/2020 17:07

I will not fuck off.
