Just been on the online version (I know, my own fault!), there was a story with a picture of a dog being barbequed alive on the newsfeed! wtaf?? I just can't un see it, thank God I didn't click on it, the image was enough, I can't fathom how anyone can photograph it and not do anything, and then for a paper to publish it words fail me, just bloody horrific and wrong, I've got palpitations now, total bastards

There was a video a little while ago of the fur trade. I won’t elaborate but thats what you get when you buy knock off uggs.

percheron67 · 31/01/2020 21:14

I haven't seen it but, surely, the more publicity surrounding these barbaric practices the easier it ought to be to put pressure on to stop them.

Lordfrontpaw · 31/01/2020 21:16

I believe that the government is finally getting their bums in gear with regards to the live animal markets and ‘exotic’ meats.

Mojaverattles · 31/01/2020 21:17

eating live baby mice

Do you mean people live feeding their snakes? Nothing wrong with that at all. That's what goes on in the wild and its 100X better than feeding the snakes frozen-thawed as it doesn't have the same nutritional value.

user1471464702 · 31/01/2020 21:17

I know horrendous ☹️

user1471464702 · 31/01/2020 21:19

They have a festival each year where hundreds of dogs are slaughtered and vanderpump has a charity trying to adopt dogs ready for slaughter to raise this awful practice

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 31/01/2020 21:20

Like after the last epidemic? They don't care.

Lordfrontpaw · 31/01/2020 21:22

Oh they said it before did they? Scratch that then!

ChardonnaysDistantCousin · 31/01/2020 21:25

I don't know what they said, but the markets seem to be flourishing after SARS, so I really don't think they give a flying rat's arse about to,

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/01/2020 21:27

No, not fed to other animals , it was a plateful of young mice , picked up with chopsticks and swirled round in a bowl of dipping sauce Sad

And add the COMPULSARY testing of cosmetics - so any companies who sell within China (even if they don't test ) will have their products tested before sale .
.

Lordfrontpaw · 31/01/2020 21:27

I hope because they’ve said it this time they might actually do it. Apparently it’s very fashionable to go to the market and pick your breathing (exotic) critter - they then dispatch it there and then.

Bakedbrie · 31/01/2020 21:28

Dog lover here. I won’t be looking that up thanks but hope the sick bastards get life.

Mojaverattles · 31/01/2020 21:29

plateful of young mice , picked up with chopsticks and swirled round in a bowl of dipping sauce

That's fucked up

DillBaby · 31/01/2020 21:31

I’m not surprised their cruel practices have resulted in coronavirus. People have known about this for years but are powerless to stop it as it’s not our country.

LochJessMonster · 31/01/2020 21:32

They wrote in the article that they aren’t showing the video as it’s too distressing.
There are no distressing photos in the article apart from the initial small one on the front page.

GSD20 · 31/01/2020 21:34

China is literally fucked up. Even the sickest of people know not to eat animals alive.

Not an once of compassion shown hence why I will never set foot there as long as I live.

Mrscaindingle · 31/01/2020 21:40

I accidentally looked at the picture too, I had a really visceral reaction and felt physically sick. It's been on my mind all day, however if it wasn't reported it then no-one would be able to do anything about it.

I just can't comprehend it you would need to be a sociopath not to react..... horrible.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/01/2020 22:03

What defies logic (if there is any logic in eating cats and dogs) is any animal slaughtered under extreme stress will release a lot of adrenaline .
Which will affect the quality of the meat .
So why go out of your way to make the process as inhumane as physically possible?
No logic?

I don't eat meat or fish myself (haven't done for nearly 40 years ) but I know the flesh of an animal that eats other flesh is unpalateable .

And remember the 1988 Seoul Olympics boycotting because of the dogmeat trade ?
32 years later.........................it continues .

Seems to be a case here of some people wanting to shoot the messenger.

Urgh, the irony in this post. You are all a bunch of absolute meat eating hypocrites.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 31/01/2020 22:37

Not all of us , I've been nearly 40 years a vegetarian.

I think the irony is the Saily Mail froth.
If this was in the Telegraph or the Guardian it would be
Oh, I never imagined this went on in the 21st Century . Thank God there are newspapers brave enough to highlight this

But as its The Daily Mail you'd think they put the dog on the rack personally Hmm
