To not want to be rushed out of a car park?

MsMarvel · 29/01/2020 12:30

Travel around for work, so regularly use public car parks to then work at client sites (hotels, bars etc) always arrive early so never have any issue getting spaces in busy car parks.

Because i work in a public area at a client site, when i get back to my car like to grab my lunch quickly and make some phonecalls before heading home (todays journey is a 2 hour drive home)

Im fed up of people trying to find spaces in car parks seeing me going into my car, amd sitting behind me waiting for me to leave! I normally end up feeling rushed and just leave, but today i decided to sit and eat the steak bake i bought on the way to the car. Woman sits behind me for like 5 mins, then goes past slowly peering into my car giving me proper evils. Should add, engine not on, so not sitting with idling engine.

Aibu to take some time before leaving a parking space??

Strangestthing West of Scotland you say. You can literally walk from Greggs to the trampoline park. Why on Earth would you move your car from one car park side to the other? No wonder the roads round there are always such a mess. "Considerate" people circling all round the car parks.

DesLynamsMoustache · 29/01/2020 21:47

Oh goodie, this is still going. Off to catch up

malmi · 29/01/2020 21:55

I don't know if someone's need would be greater than mine, that's why I would move for someone and have done

So how can you justify ever parking in a car park that is full, or might become full? You are denying a space to someone whose needs may be greater than yours. Couldn't you come back another day to do whatever errand you had in mind?

Love how invested in all this strangestthing is 😂

I once sat in my car in a free car park with a take out coffee and reading my book. I was there two hours. It was a lovely afternoon out.

Sorry? No idea what you are banging on about. Theres more than one greggs and one trampoline Park in the west of Scotland 😂😂

Well when people keep @ ing me and commenting on what I'm saying I feel obliged to answer. Granted it has been a slow day and this has amused me to some extent.

Thestrangestthing · 29/01/2020 22:12

@howabout

Still laughing that you thinkbyou know where I'm talking about 😂

Well its a risk I take when leaving my car, if I'm in my car I can move it for someone else to use the space.

Thestrangestthing · 29/01/2020 22:17

Hmm days where I can run errands are few and far between. I probably could, but what if the car park was full that day too, I would never be able to get to the shops. It is a conundrum. I guess, I'll just have to carry on shopping when I can, coming back to my car when I'm finished and vacating the space instead of hanging around unnecessarily.

And..............

Thestrangestthing · 29/01/2020 22:20

Anyway I will keep answering until I fall asleep. I can't promise I'll have time to come back and repeat myself over and over tomorrow, very busy working from home, not in my car as so many people seem to be doing these days 🤣

Thestrangestthing · 29/01/2020 22:22

I think you may be right OP, I'm way too over invested. This is something I can't back down on though, no one will change my mind.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 29/01/2020 22:27

Thestrangestthing, you could stop you know. It's just a thread, not a NATO deal about to go wrong. Confused

Thestrangestthing · 29/01/2020 22:50

I can't I'm just too invested, and like I said, I've had nothing better to do today.

JassyRadlett · 29/01/2020 22:50

What the fuckity fuck are you talking about. I have literally just said I don't know if someone's need would be greater than mine, that's why I would move for someone and have done.

You’re moaning about people not moving for you - which I assume extends to stopping while running errands for a leisurely coffee or to chat with friends, or anything not necessary - being ‘selfish’, so obviously you think your need to do your errands using that car space is greater than theirs - their errands including ‘making a phone call or eating lunch in a quiet spot in between appointments’.

JassyRadlett · 29/01/2020 22:51

There has to be a busy car park you could do laps of while judging people. Grin

Again, what the fuck? I did not say this. I said people shouldn't sit in their car in the car park eating their lunch, when someone is driving around trying to find a space because the car park is full. Please do try and read things properly, it will save so much time.

SD1978 · 29/01/2020 22:55

The assumption is, if you get in your car you will be driving off. If the car park is busy, and people are trying to find a parking space, it's reasonable to wait- so I think you are being u reasonable I'm afraid- I would sit in the pass Maher side or rear seat if you want to use a busy public carp ark as your own mobile office.

Thestrangestthing · 29/01/2020 22:56

At this time of night, probably not, they will be empty.

anothernamejeeves · 29/01/2020 23:16

Really? You don't say...

Thestrangestthing · 29/01/2020 23:19

Seems to be quite a few other people who are over invested too though, otherwise I would have no one to answer. It seems people are quite obsessed with the opinion I have.

Besidesthepoint · 29/01/2020 23:55

Surely the hospital car park is exactly the place where people might need to sit in their car a while before leaving? Like type 1 diabetics who have frequent check ups and are not allowed to drive when too low or much too high, ot people that just saw a loved one die, or people who have just been told really scary news? Surely the hospital car park is the place where that happens frequently.

Allthecandles · 30/01/2020 00:05

Haha I clicked yanbu just so I could see the votes. I think it’s one of those awful situations where I would think I’m in the right whether I was annoyed that someone wouldn’t leave the space or if I was annoyed that someone was hovering. That’s so bad Confused

JassyRadlett · 30/01/2020 00:20

Thats exactly what you said - that they were selfish not to leave after they’d finished what they were doing.

Given you’re against someone using car park time to eat lunch anywhere except the place they purchase the lunch, it’s reasonable to assume that you’re against them using car park time for any other activity that may inconvenience someone wanting that space? Chatting with a friend? Not bolting their coffee and cake?

My reading’s just fine. Your logic is a bit dodgy, that’s all.
