To report this to Superdrug head office

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 18:23

I went to Superdrug today to get my eyebrows waxed.

There was a mother and daughter in the queue ahead of me. The beautician (i dont know if that's her job title) asked how old the girl was. Mum said she was 15 and asked if she was old enough (she'd already paid and the question hadn't been asked at that stage).

Beautician ummed and ahhed and said company policy was 16.
Mum went to speak to another employee who came over and said to beautician "her mums given her permission and you do kids when you think nobody's watching anyway, so just do it."

Now normally I'd turn a blind eye but I was a asked to sign a medical disclaimer so I'd say Superdrug, as a company, must take their policies quite seriously. Would you report this to their head office or would you mind your own business? (Quite happy to be told to my own!)

Ps if anyone's interested my eyebrows look shite.

Not quite the crime of the century is it!

DarkDarkNight · 28/01/2020 19:32

No I wouldn’t want to potentially get somebody in to trouble at work over a 15 year old getting her eyebrows waxed, especially as her Mum was there anyway.

VenusTiger · 28/01/2020 19:32

The comment made about 'when no-one's looking' would have made me leave the shop tbf OP. As @Lockheart says, this is the real issue here as the 15yo was with an adult.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 19:34

@SirGawain murder isn't the crime of the century when there are serial killers about. It's still a pretty bad crime though!

It's my understanding that if she has parental consent its ok. I wouldn't be reporting it to head office, no.

Mitzicoco · 28/01/2020 19:43

Why is everyone being so rude to the OP? It's like a feeding frenzy out there!

Wandaneedsnewwindows · 28/01/2020 19:50

Mind your own business

GinDaddy · 28/01/2020 19:52

What is with all these straight up snitching posts of late on MN?

For me the epitome of a dry snitch is someone telling an authority "hey, I hear something happens over in this place but I don't want to give any names and I won't give mine".

I think yabu to be frank.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 19:55

@GinDaddy I was asking if I was being unreasonable and I think it's clear that I am. I don't think that qualifies me as a 'snitch'.

Thefaceofboe · 28/01/2020 19:57

God mind your own business

VenusTiger · 28/01/2020 20:02

@GiveHerHellFromUs my god PPs, the OP has asked if she should say anything, she hasn't said she WILL - fuck 'em OP - maybe change your thread to say "something you might want to know if you're heading to Superdrug to get your brows done" and give out the advice.... this 'grass' "snitch" stuff is bloody pathetic!
What are health and safety rules for if not to protect us!

alwaysmovingforwards · 28/01/2020 20:06

Her parent said it was ok.

By reporting it, what exactly are you hoping will be achieved?

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 20:07

Thanks @VenusTiger!

@alwaysmovingforwards as I've said previously I agree that if a parent has given consent I don't see that it's a huge issue really.
It's the "you do it when you think nobody's watching" suggestion that's the real issue.

Babyg1995 · 28/01/2020 20:10

FFS have you really got that much time on your hands MN honestly baffles me I've never met anyone in rl who makes these kind of threads.

Ghostontoast · 28/01/2020 20:17

You would be a shoo-in for the Stasi or Gestapo OP.

mansviewpoint · 28/01/2020 20:17

I'd be very concerned as to the part said to the beautician of 'you do other kids when you think no one is watching' ... that's the part I'd be much more concerned with as you have no knowledge of if there is parental consent.
Of course the policy is only there so that if they F' up the eyebrows of an under 16 you don't get an uptight parent storming in and blaming the beautician.

Scaredmumxx · 28/01/2020 20:20

I used to work for superdrug lol. I think the mum would have to take responsibility for any issues. She's only months from 16

NeckPainChairSearch · 28/01/2020 20:26

You would be a shoo-in for the Stasi or Gestapo OP

I know you're just adding your bash-the-OP overreaction with the rest of them, but the day after Holocaust Day, this lands badly.

SiliconHeaven · 28/01/2020 20:41

I’ve never had to fill in a medical consent form in Superdrug and I go all the time Confused

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 20:43

@SiliconHeaven have you thought about complaining to their head office? Wink

OP posts:
Raspberrytruffle · 28/01/2020 20:47

Only report away if you enjoy being a busy body? It's not like she was requesting a tattoo or nipple piercing? Get a life be happy Grin

Derbee · 28/01/2020 20:59

@GiveHerHellFromUs against the grain, but I think you’d be reasonable to report. When something is clearly wrong and against their policies, and they’re happy to do it in front of multiple customers, what are they up to in secret?

I don’t think I’d go to the effort of reporting it, but I’d appreciate that there are people that would. (I do generally like rules though 😂)

HolyForkingShirtbaIIs · 28/01/2020 22:11

Do not assassinate Her Maj.
That's the sort of thing that gets you 20 years in the electric chair. 😁

magnetic1s · 28/01/2020 22:27

I think you need a hobby, OP.

Crochet? Angry letters to the local rag? Neighbourhood Watch?

Fedupwithmyhouse · 28/01/2020 22:31

YABU to get your eyebrows waxed instead of threaded.
