To report this to Superdrug head office

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 18:23

I went to Superdrug today to get my eyebrows waxed.

There was a mother and daughter in the queue ahead of me. The beautician (i dont know if that's her job title) asked how old the girl was. Mum said she was 15 and asked if she was old enough (she'd already paid and the question hadn't been asked at that stage).

Beautician ummed and ahhed and said company policy was 16.
Mum went to speak to another employee who came over and said to beautician "her mums given her permission and you do kids when you think nobody's watching anyway, so just do it."

Now normally I'd turn a blind eye but I was a asked to sign a medical disclaimer so I'd say Superdrug, as a company, must take their policies quite seriously. Would you report this to their head office or would you mind your own business? (Quite happy to be told to my own!)

Ps if anyone's interested my eyebrows look shite.

*has been going

finkploydthethird · 28/01/2020 18:51

My question was more about the company policy being blatantly ignored and the implications for them.

That's their problem and not yours. If you report it she could well lose her job.

Bakedbrie · 28/01/2020 18:51

Crikey.....its utterly scandalous 🙄 my mum plucked off all her brows then drew them back on...but they didn’t grow back so now she looks permanently startled!

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 18:52

@MyDcAreMarvel to be fair they've got a sign up so it might be a new policy or your DD might just go to the same store I went to

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 18:53

@Bakedbrie your poor mum! That's hilarious though (I'm sorry Brie's mum Thanks)

A fifteen year old is able to decide herself about the hair growing on her own body. It’s not North Korea.

TSSDNCOP · 28/01/2020 18:55

YWNBU to complain very loudly that your own look shit and remind yourself in future that it’s Superdrug; pay peanuts, get monkeys.

VideographybyLouBloom · 28/01/2020 18:56

Jesus. Get a hobby OP. I hear GDPR is very interesting Grin

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 18:57

@TSSDNCOP they looked ok when they were bright red 😂

To be fair I paid the exact same amount that I've ever paid anywhere else when getting my eyebrows done. It's only the second time I've been there because the lady I normally go to is off work as she's just had a baby, and as I said, the first time she did a really good job.

Ffs no! Ridiculous and weird to report.

Our local Superdrug used to have an eyebrow lady but she wasn't a Superdrug employee. The store also has a Perfume Shop area and they are a different business too

Twinkletoes888 · 28/01/2020 19:02

My Superdrug does fillers etc maybe the form is an all rounder or client sheet they keep, another salon near me will not do threading, waxing, tinting of any kind under 16. My daughter aged 12 wanted hers threaded and didn’t believe me because her friend claimed she had hers done...

I think with parents consent it shouldn’t be an issue but if they are just doing it then they could leave themselves open for complaints, if child A wants eyebrows like Instagram star and comes out with something different and parent complains and it transpires they should have been 16 then obviously it’s going to be on their head and could leave themselves open for all kinds of issues. I complain about most things but don’t think this would go far but I can see your point.

MimiLaRue · 28/01/2020 19:04

I feel like mistakes like this are rather a right of passage. I remember a dodgy perm I had at age 15 and now I have some hilarious photos to look back and laugh over. This really is no big deal and I wouldnt waste my time complaining about this.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 19:04

@Twinkletoes888 I do agree that with parental consent it shouldn't be an issue.

I can only assume they've had a recent complaint and someone's used the age thing against them.

It was more the "you do it when you think nobody's watching anyway" that surprised me I guess but I'm not going to do anything about it.

Not my circus.

And as a PP suggested, there's so much more I can learn about GDPR instead 😂

You really need to get a life
Are you always such a tattletale?

It's funny sometimes to watch the escalation of outrage.

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 28/01/2020 19:15

Medical form, disclaimer or just a contraindication list?

numberonecook · 28/01/2020 19:15

Superdrug HQ would not give a shit. I went for my eyebrows tinted and the woman dropped black tint in my platinum blonde hair. She didn’t really care, the store manager didn’t care and the head office didn’t even reply to my complaints. I even emailed a copy of the photo and a copy of the receipt for £100 for my hair fixing from the hairdresser. Not a dickie bird back. Awful company. So a 15 year old getting her eyebrows waxed will not bother them one bit

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 19:17

@NeckPainChairSearch it's hilarious. I think the 'tattletale' one was my favourite because it made us sound about 5 Grin

OP posts:
GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 19:18

@MrOnionsBumperRoller no idea.

They asked for my doctors details, my contact details then you had to sign to say you understood risks/implications etc. I didn't really read it because she actually asked me to sign it after she'd finished (because, you know, procedure and stuff!)

kattekitt · 28/01/2020 19:20

@numberonecook I was just about to say similar...

I had a horrendous experience in Superdrug, I wrote to head office and heard absolutely nothing back. I wouldn’t waste your time, as if it were me it would make me even more annoyed if they just brush you off or ignore you.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 19:21

@numberonecook and @kattekitt I'm sorry you guys had such crap experiences x

OP posts:
Auntiedotty · 28/01/2020 19:24

Go ahead and complain about your experience and your eyebrows if you are unhappy. But please don't complain about someone else's experience! All of the issues in the world at the moment, this is not one to get worked up about OP

At17 · 28/01/2020 19:28

People are being so rude to you, OP, and you’re being so gracious with your responses!

(Please don’t assassinate the queen though.)

GiveHerHellFromUs · 28/01/2020 19:30

Bless you, @At17.

It's funny because it's the same users you see trying to offend anyone who posts a question they think isn't relevant.
I could probably have written a list of 20 people who'd post OTT responses.

I promise I won't assassinate her because I love her!
