Kids peeing on my garden on school run

Not sure if I'm being unreasonable or not tbh.

My son has just walked home from school and said he saw a kid with parent peeing on my garden. It is school run time and we are near the school. The school isn't that far away and there is a drain on the road near my driveway next to where the car the kid was in was parked. There is also an alleyway that is more private a few steps away.

I feel annoyed that they chose to pee on my garden specifically of all the places. My son says he's seen it happen before as well. I know they have to go but maybe carry a potty, distract them and get them to a private place or back to school.

I know animals pee on my garden but its seems a bit disrespectful? I also know it won't harm my garden.

I would definitely report this to the school, somehow I think the sort of parents that do this won't care.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 28/01/2020 17:31

Cheshire Cat I potty trained my kids at 2. In those days everyone did or they weren’t allowed to go to nursery. Holding your toddler over the grid was pretty common and, I would say, 100% preferable to later toilet training. Plenty of dogs pee on the street so I can’t see the issue.

TinklyLittleLaugh · 28/01/2020 17:32

Obviously not advocating using someone’s garden. But don’t have a problem with the drain.

Straycatstrut · 28/01/2020 17:47

I'd put up CCTV. Vandalism surely? Kids shouldn't get away with it , they need to learn acceptable places to do it! An adult would be arrested for it. I saw it on a sort of "999" type documentary thing with pissed men doing it in shop doorways and in train stations and having to be arrested - rank of the highest rankness.

CallmeAngelina · 28/01/2020 17:48

Inform the school. Maybe they could put something in the next newsletter.

MintyMabel · 28/01/2020 17:50

Amazing. On another thread everyone says kids peeing in public places is entirely ok, everyone does it etc.

Unless it is in your own backyard then it's a big no no.

It is either ok for an outside space to be covered in piss or it isn't.

SettyBuarez · 28/01/2020 18:27

@MintyMabel - Someone's FRONT GARDEN isn't a public place though; it's private property. It may be an outside space but it is nowhere near the same as a drain or an alleyway! The OP is annoyed that people are peeing/letting their offspring pee IN HER GARDEN.

OP - get onto the school, and maybe mention to (warn?!) other neighbours if you're on reasonable terms with them. Also the sprinklers.

PickAChew · 28/01/2020 18:32

Definitely time to bring out the super soaker.

I have no issues with discreet outdoor weeing but on someone's garden is just gross. Not nearly as gross as the time I saw a woman pull her toddler's pants down and hold them so they could wee on the pavement outside Iceland, though 🤢

MintyMabel · 28/01/2020 18:37

It may be an outside space but it is nowhere near the same as a drain or an alleyway!

What’s the difference? If it is a public space, people still use it. It’s ok to piss all over the place if it’s owned by the local authority is it?

Ridiculous double standard.

Singlebutmarried · 28/01/2020 18:39

I once contacted our local school about a young boy (yr 7) peeing up against someone’s house under their living room window!

I also posted on the local FB site and got totally flamed.

Apparently the kid was well within his rights and could have had underlying issues (there’s a garage with a loo a minute further down the road and also a discreet alleyway)

Awkward1 · 28/01/2020 21:25

I think generally fewer toilets than when i was young.
However this child should have gone at school.

Maybe boys not holding is why so many more are dry at night later as their bladders are not so stretched (yes i know it's hormonal).

Our school need to send a reminder that
You cant park in the turning circle
Dont leave your engine on when parked (illegal unless deicing or doing sat nav)
Dont use peoples driveways to turn around in! Especially as you are extremely close to running dc over on their own drive.

Luckily AFAIK we havent had a kid weeking on our property but honestly it's not as surprising as it should be.

The window box is quite though!

I cant see why a parent wouldnt use their own car tyre though

Singsongbird · 28/01/2020 21:57

@NoIDontWatchLoveIsland there really aren't toilets everywhere if you don't drive and are out with snail paced toddlers.
A discreet pee behind a tree is fine in my book but a school aged child peeing in a garden is not.
I don't see why you can't report it to the school. I remember always getting the "you represent the school when you wear the uniform" lecture in assemblies.

Brokenlightfitting · 28/01/2020 22:30

What do people expect the school to do?

PanicAndRun · 28/01/2020 22:39

Maybe check with DS what age the kid was.

Last time I caught someone it was a y5/6 boy happily pissing on my hedges. A shouted "Seriously? What do you think you are doing?" had him hide both heads pretty sharply, eyes on the floor ,tail between his legs. He must've been mortified. DD found it hilarious . I just muttered "I really hate people". Everyone survived and moved on.

NarwhalsNarwhals · 28/01/2020 22:50

Mention it to school. A child at my school was seen doing it and we had a word with the parents about it not being acceptable and a chat with the kids about respecting other peoples gardens on the school run (tied it in with running across gardens and picking bits of hedge, flowers etc rather than singling anyone out)

Bringonspring · 28/01/2020 22:54

Ummmm I was caught out the other day with my 2 year old and had to get her to go on grass. We normally have a potty but didn’t. Maybe it was that situation? TBH if someone did it with their 2 year old on my garden I would understand

Rosspoldarkssaddle · 29/01/2020 02:07

Pop up a sign that says "smile. You are on camera!"

Alleycat1 · 29/01/2020 06:36

Put up a temporary sign that says "This private garden is not a public toilet!" .

Shoxfordian · 29/01/2020 06:42

Can you get some motion activated sprinklers? People are so gross

Emmelina · 29/01/2020 13:45

If you know which school they’re from (colour of uniform etc), email the school. They might put it in their newsletter as a general “reminder to go before you leave home/school —you dirty scrotes—“

Emmelina · 29/01/2020 13:47

Oh iPhone, I just love your aversion to strike through haha Hmm

CakeandCustard28 · 29/01/2020 14:01

YABU. They could of peed over a drain, I would watch out the window next time and catch the parent and tell them to stop. Chavvy AF peeing in someone’s garden.

CakeandCustard28 · 29/01/2020 14:03

*YANBU even.

GobletOfIre · 29/01/2020 14:57

I’ve had my kids get caught short when little and pointed them at an appropriate tree if on the street. I’d never get them to pee in a front garden.

theweebleshavelanded · 29/01/2020 15:12

Id be shouting " STOP WEEING GET ON MY LAND"

loudly. I have no shame.

talk to the school
