My DD has a Fisher Price jungle play mat with a little keyboard which plays songs. One of them is quite a sweet little song about a purple monkey in a bubblegum tree. I was singing along with it to DD and bam! Suddenly I was bawling my eyes out. Luckily DD is only 6 months so she didn’t notice (too busy trying to get everything in arms reach into her mouth)!

I was so embarrassed afterwards, what a ridiculous thing to start crying over! It’s not even a sad song so I don’t know why I got so emotional!

What’s the most ridiculous thing you’ve cried over lately?

I was feeling trapped as if I just HAD to get out of the house but there was nowhere to go - nothing open, poor weather conditions, and then dd1 was invited to a friend's house.

On the way back home after picking her back up, dd2 said "thank you for looking after us, mummy" & dd1 said "it's our job to look after you too" & tears welled.

WeaselsKingHenry · 27/01/2020 16:28

"King Of Rome" by the Unthanks. It's a song about pigeon racing. I've listened to it several times and ended up a snotty mess each one.

Mymomsbetterthanyomom · 27/01/2020 16:33

Bless your heart, lol!!
I'm not even pregnant and I would have cried too!!😂😥

Mymomsbetterthanyomom · 27/01/2020 16:43

I attempted to watch the show "Cheer" on Netflix and I lasted about 2 minutes. For some reason it made me cry, lol!!
But the National Anthem and when my sons comes home from especially when he leaves to go back makes me cry!

And y'all....Some of these are absolutely the most precious things I've read in a long time.I remember when my babies were little and certain things would touch my heart and make me cry.But at 20,17 and 15...they still touch my heart to this day.
❤❤❤

(Sorry that was so long!!!!)

FizzyIce · 27/01/2020 16:47

Watching an act on Greatest Dancer .
Blush

Abitofanexpert · 27/01/2020 16:53

DH and I played a board game last night, I lost as always, and I had a huge hour-long cry about being rubbish at absolutely everything and being married to someone who is brilliant at everything. Hmm

I have begun to wonder if I need some CBT or something. I am desperate not to completely fuck up my children!

ArthurDentsSpaceTowel · 27/01/2020 16:54

I cried when they took our written-off car away. Sad Honestly I loved that car, its responsiveness, its handling...we have a posh new(ish) one now and it's comfortable and easy with all sorts of bells and whistles, but it's an auto and it's not the same.

Appy21 · 27/01/2020 17:32

ArthurDentsSpaceTowel oh yes, I always get sentimental about things like cars, moving house etc...

I still have all my teddies in the loft at my dad's house (I am a grown professional woman) and I don't want him to throw them away. I'd definitely cry if he did Blush

Pricklefish · 27/01/2020 17:38

I had a really horrible day on the building site, had huge stomach pain and was working with a horrible man.
In desperation I drove to the nearest garage to use a clean toilet, belly hurting.
When I came out I thought the old lady behind till was frowning at me.but she said 'are you all right dear, you look very upset?'
I was covered in mud wearing high vis and a helmet and looking a mess.
To my horror tears came to my eyes, and she saw, and then she said
'oh dear, shall I make you a cup of tea' and she was so sweet I just started to sob and couldn't stop. Her kindness broke me.

PrincessHoneysuckle · 27/01/2020 17:51

Bipbipbipbip · 27/01/2020 17:56

I cried this afternoon at the Newsround video of a survivor of the Holocaust telling his granddaughters about what happened to him.

emzey · 27/01/2020 17:58

Saturday evening I cried a bit, it was silly because I shamelessly giggled about it earlier in the dayBlush
Saturday morning I woke up to a stiff....no it wasn't the husband's morning glory.
I'd gone down stairs and our hamster was on his back stiff as a board! Dead. It was a shock, my protectivness took over, let's get him out and in a box so the kids can't see. He didn't fit in a frube box, try again. Anyway, sorted.
Questions from kids, older by way.
Where did you put it?
Me: the bin.
Chid: which one, the normal bin, food recycling bin?
Me: starts giggling
Other older child,
Couldn't you do CPR, was it cold?
Literally, I was crying with laughter.
Then I had a guilt trip...it was sad.

slipperywhensparticus · 27/01/2020 18:02

I watched Hawaii 50 today (no idea why) there was this drug dog he alerted his handler when he was about to get shot really watched his butt for him but one guy shot him dead the dog took off after him and got shot too he lived but after his handlers funeral he ran away and was sleeping on his grave long story short I cried over a tv dog

Bipbipbipbip · 27/01/2020 18:02

I clearly cannot read. I thought this was just the last thing that you cried at. I obviously do not think the Holocaust is ridiculous.

GoodnightJude1 · 27/01/2020 18:06

My DS (9yo) saw me carrying a load of washing downstairs this morning to put in the washing machine. He said “do you want some help mum?” I said “Nar, I’m alright mate!” And he said...”But you always say you’re alright, even when I know you’re not” I blubbed like a baby. He’s such a kind, sensitive little lad ❤️
A few months ago the paramedics were here (they are quite often due to issues with pain with a condition I have) as they were trying to find a decent vain, a little voice said, “ mummy’s left hand is best, and it gets less bruises” it’s made me well up just writing it. Happy tears that he’s so thoughtful and sad tears that he’s never known a time in his 9 years that mummy hasn’t had paramedics looking for a vein!

HillAreas · 27/01/2020 18:15

@GoodnightJude1
That brought a lump to my throat, don’t mind telling you! What a lovely boy you have, you must be so proud. I hope my baby DS turns out like yours (especially as I’m suspecting they share a name!)

FizzyIce · 27/01/2020 18:15

@emzey my dd’s lovely little hamster died last month .
I balled like a baby , I thought she was a pain in the arse but dd loved her so much and I felt so guilty for all the times I’d sworn at the hamster Blush
She was a sweet, little ,fluffy thing but so noisy at night .
We had a similar food bin convo but dd was aghast at the thought so we buried her under a tiny Christmas tree we’d bought for the garden .

longcoffee · 27/01/2020 18:39

DH was watching something about huskies that pull sleds.

Cried with sadness when I heard sick dogs are left at designated 'poorly pup posts' (not official name) to be picked up by medics

Cried with happiness when poorly pups were picked up AND got a ride in a plane AND a blanket cuddle

All in the space of about 90 seconds, having been up less than five minutes. DH looked most bewildered.

BillywigSting · 27/01/2020 18:48

I cried a while ago at the news that there had some sort leukaemia breakthrough and had a bit of a selfish 'why couldn't they have found that 20 years ago' because my friend died of it when we were ten and it's Just. Not. Fair.

I might have even stamped my foot a bit.

It's fantastic news really, but it was an unpleasant reminder of just how much I miss him sometimes, which feels a bit silly because it was 20 years ago and there are plenty of people from my childhood that I haven't seen since I was around 10 or 11 and don't miss them in the slightest.

HaudMaDug · 27/01/2020 18:57

I always seem to cry when people are nice to me.

Frokni · 27/01/2020 19:24

Story of holocaust survivor and the reason he treasures an 80 year old crock pot- when they were in a concentration camp his mum would pick up crumbs, put water in the pot and feed him and his sister the paste it made, yet she never took a bite of her own!!

My silly one from last week was crying at how few houses i like where i live- seriously! Have a like/hate relationship with my house and am a bit fed up. It's no excuse, but still!

fishonabicycle · 27/01/2020 19:28

My 18 year old son (currently en route for Cambodia). He's been away since early December and I miss him so much. Sniffle.

GrannyBags · 27/01/2020 19:31

Holby City makes me blub most weeks. I’m menopausal and emotional and don’t watch a lot of TV but that is my guilty pleasure.

10storeylovesong · 27/01/2020 19:38

I'm currently crying as my ds has failed another maths test at school. He's only 6 so not life changing, but he's trying so hard and just doesn't get it. His little bewildered face when I try and explain it to him. I can just see years of struggle ahead of him at school.

scrivette · 27/01/2020 19:41

Peter Rabbit. It's the an episode where Peter finds a reel of cinefilm with his Dad on and all the bunnies watch it. I have seen it about 5 times and I always cry Blush the children just laugh at me!
