I'm sorry if this has been done before - couldn't find it.

Just really interested in others' days, what time you get up and go to bed, what kind of work / chores you do on an average weekday?

OP posts:
RubySunset · 23/01/2020 23:14

4 days a week:

7am - get up, quickly dressed and take dog out for an hour
8.15am - get back, feed dog, drink tea
8.30am - go into home office and work
12pm - break and take dog out again
12.45 - back, make lunch and take it back to desk to eat and work
5.30 - stop working, dinner, feed dog, training session with dog, have shower, change into pyjamas
7.30pm - watch telly and study at same time (degree)
9pm - bed and read

11pm - sleep

1 day a week:

5am - get up, quickly dressed and take dog out in the dark
5.45am - get back, feed dog, get proper dressed
7am - leave house and drive 3 hrs to office
7pm - get back from office, feed dog, eat, shower, pyjamas, tv, sometimes study
9pm - bed, read, sleep

Weekends:

Like the above but more relaxed. Some diy. Housework. Meeting family. Longer dog walking. Heavier study sessions. That kind of thing.

Grin @bangwhistle
That was very funny, brought back the old days for me

DesLynamsMoustache · 23/01/2020 23:19

Up between 6/6.30, whenever DD decides to wake up.

At 7 DH takes her and I go back to bed Grin He usually keeps her till somewhere between 9-9.30 and gives her breakfast. If it's been a bad night he will rejig work stuff to keep her till 10.

Mornings are generally baby classes or out to park or for a dog walk before home for early lunch for DD.

At 12 DD goes down for a nap for two hours or so and I do house bits and sometimes work (self-employed). I usually have my lunch then too.

She gets up again around 2 and we just play games, read, and then she amuses herself till DH comes home between 4 and 5 most nights.

Dinner at around 5.30.

6:15 she has her bath and is asleep by 6:45.

About half of the week, I then work from around 7pm-10pm and then go to bed and read or browse internet till 11/midnight. I usually have a bath in the evenings too. On non-work nights, I just watch TV, read, play games with DH, we do house bits, etc.

Shoxfordian · 23/01/2020 23:23

Working in the office, Tues to thurs

Coffee at station
Train at 7
Waitrose for lunch/breakfast
Bus into work
Work at 8ish
Lunch and times paper at half 12
Leave at 4
Home by half 5/6

Evenings are either aquafit at gym, out with friends, out with husband,

If home, dinner half7/8ish
Jigsaw puzzle/tv/playstation with husband

Bed half 9/10

PickAChew · 23/01/2020 23:25

I'd bore myself writing it all out. Generally up 7 to midnight, have shit or piss to clean up most days. Will lock horns with at least one of the boys, almost definitely break up a scrap.

Lilyamna · 23/01/2020 23:26

I have an unhealthy routine at the moment so I love seeing what others do as inspiration. This was yesterday:

7:30, 7:40, 7:50, 8:00, 8:10, 8:15 - keep hitting snooze.

8:20 get up and shower.
8:45 dress, hair, makeup.
(No time for breakfast or to make lunch.)
9:00 leave house
9:10 arrive at work
12:30 purchase rip off lunch
5:30 finish work, go to Tesco.
6:30 Come home, talk to friend/family on the phone / chatting on Whatsapp.
7:30 Snack on the snacks I bought in Tesco instead of cooking (the vegetables I optimistically bought will eventually go mouldy) and watch TV/read online articles or mumsnet.
9:30 fall asleep on the sofa
01:00 wake up, change into pjs, brush teeth. Watch a random documentary on youtube
02:30 fall asleep
Repeat.

Not proud. But there you have it! I am determined to change...

PickAChew · 23/01/2020 23:28

I'm assuming we have a few posters not in the UK as they are post at around 11pm that they are in bed by 10.

AllergicToAMop · 23/01/2020 23:28

Always did it, but now I even have an alarm for it since I am on MNBlush
8AM swallow the pill!

AllergicToAMop · 23/01/2020 23:29

Middle varies, bed whenever I am tired. May it be 11pm or 1am

YesIReallyDoLikeRootBeer · 23/01/2020 23:34

mamaduckbone · 23/01/2020 23:35

My term time week days are very similar and very dull!
6.30 - alarm goes off
6.45 - drag myself out of bed and into shower. Get ready for work. DH always makes coffee because he is an actual angel. Might see the dcs for a few minutes if I'm lucky.
7.45 - leave the house.
8.00 - arrive at work, get prepped for the day.
8.45-3.15 - teach. 15 minutes for coffee, 15-30 minutes for lunch.
3.15 - 5.30ish - mark, drink tea, other work, staff meetings etc.
5.45ish get home, eat, spend time with dh and dcs, usually do more work, watch a bit of telly.
10.30ish bed.
Thrilling, huh?

Emmmie · 23/01/2020 23:38

7:15 - leave for work by train
7:25- arrive to work

sicasaparrot · 23/01/2020 23:48

6.45 Alarm, husband goes downstairs to do drinks and check the kids are having breakfast/put the dogs out if he’s here, I shower. If he’s not here I do that then shower and dress etc.

7.50 Do several hair dos, and start screaming at them to stop messing around and brush their teeth and get dressed.

8.37 school run (sometimes DH does it).

8.55 Home. Cup of tea then do chores. Washing on, load dishwasher/cleaning kitchen, tidy up, make bed, clean sinks and toilets. I usually write a list and aim to do as much as possible but I’m pretty slow and there’s a lot of rooms and a lot of mess (my house is clean but often chaotic from the stuff we all leave about the place). I mostly am in the kitchen, often I do batch cooking or make a soup or something.

12.30 Lunch
1pm Often go shopping for food, or to my Mums.
3.10 School pick up.
3.45 Kids home. Sort out snacks for them, have a cuppa, chat to DH.
4.45 Start dinner (if I am being organised).
6pm eat
6.45 Clean kitchen, do dishwasher, other chores like hanging and folding washing, sometimes DH does this whilst I wash girls’ hair which takes an age to wash, comb and dry as it’s so long!

8pm 2 dd’s in bed, dd1 watches a tv show with us.
9pm I eat often eat something sweet (although I’m 5:2 dieting now, so that’ll stop) whilst watching something on sky (always recorded. Never live).

10.30 Bed, mess about on phone etc until midnight. Sleep.

On the days I go to work, I do all the same stuff but go to work from 9-15-2-15.

It’s weird I’m always busy but I don’t seem to achieve that much and I don’t watch tv or anything. 😐😩

Isithometimeyet0987 · 23/01/2020 23:57

7:40 get up if getting a shower 99% of the time I get showered at night though.
8am wake up and get dd up, say bye to dh who’s leaving to go to work.
8:05 get dd breakfast and do my make up and get dressed while she’s eating it
8:30 get dd washed/dressed and hair done
8:55 leave to take dd to school which starts at 9:20
9:30 get back home and get my breakfast or leave for work depending on the day and if I’m teaching any early/fitness classes. I run my own Performing Arts school so this can change depending on time of year, people calling in sick, events happening etc. Mostly I teach senior classes which don’t normally start until 1/2 so in that case I relax/shop/do paperwork/run errands/meet friends etc. until I have to leave.
Get home from work anywhere between 4:30 and 10:30 depending on the day.
When home me or dh make dinner, he gets dd from after school club usually.
Me or dh put dd to bed at 7:30
7:30 onwards quick clean up then me and dh relax together watch tv, read, have a relaxing bath or whatever we want to do unless we’re going out in which case we get ready then leave when the childminder arrives.
Anywhere after 11ish we go to bed not always at the same time though.

Weekends we have no set scedule.

DoAsYouWouldBeMumBy · 24/01/2020 00:03

On work days:
6am - get up, take dry washing off stove, put kettle on, let cat in, shower, soak cat's dishes in boiling water, put porridge on stove to cook, warm teapot, porridge bowls and tea cups, dress for work, make DS packed lunch, wash and fill cat dishes, slice fruit for breakfast, make tea. Fill and put washing machine on timer.
7am - wake DH and DS. Eat porridge and fruit, drink tea. Screech "where's my phone?!" Etc then leave for work at 7.30.

(Have a lovely time at work for variable number of hours).

Any time between 5 and 7, come home and make dinner in 20 mins (prepped at weekend).

7pm - eat dinner and clear up.
8pm, music practice, homework etc.
8.30 - DS bath
9pm - trying to get DS into bed
9.30 - lights off followed by me whining a bit on the sofa, putting dry washing away , putting wet washing to dry on stove, washing out lunch bag, prepping clothes etc for the morning, pissing about on MN, arguing with DH, proofreading stuff.
FAR TOO LATE - go to bed.

Ughmaybenot · 24/01/2020 00:06

It’s all about to change as I’ve left my job and am going to be working full time for our own businesses but!
5:45am alarm goes off, I grumble
6am I get up then get in the shower
6:20am make up and hair with a latte
6:45am take the dog for a run
7am set off to work
7:30am start work
Fend off idiots, swear every other word, eat snacks
5pm finish work
5:30pm get home, take dog for a walk
6:15pm go to our home office, pay invoices, reconcile payments, update Xero etc etc
7:30pm do tea (leave DHs on the side, he’s never home that early!)
8:30pm back in the office
10pm finish in office, flump on the sofa and watch tv with a G&T
10:30pm let dog out for one last run, bedtime

For context, mid twenties, no children (yet 🤞🏻 for a BFP soon) and run two businesses, one small scale and one mid scale.

7.00-8.20 ; get up with dc and do all that a morning routine entails with a 4 and 6 yr old. Make the beds and put a wash on and sometimes put a dinner on in the slow cooker.
8.20: leave and drop dc to school and nursery for 8.30 ( they are on the same site and DD’s school starts at 8.40 so she goes to the yard)

9.00-2.40; Work, breaks are 15 mins at 11 and half an hour at 12.30. Kids at my school leave at 2.40. I spend 20/30mins sorting/planning etc
3ish : leave school
3.30 : collect my dc from nursery and Afterschool (same building with two rooms)
Go to the park, beach, walk or just straight home depending on the day etc.
4.30: homework with eldest dc
4.45; have a cup of tea and chat to dc
5.00:start sorting dinner and serve at 5.30
6.00: play/ chat do some housework etc etc
6.45 start getting dc ready for bed
7.00-7.15 get dc to bed.
7.15- 9.30 sort out some house jobs, tidy up, pack lunches for the next day, lay out uniforms etc. Have a cup of tea and head to bed.

AlexCrowe84 · 24/01/2020 00:13

Average day - I'm home 5 days per week with DD who is almost 4.

8:00am - DD wakes up and comes into my room. She'll climb into my bed for a cuddle, and we'll chat, or I'll make up a story for her.

8:15am - Downstairs for breakfast for us both.

8:30am - After finishing breakfast, my DD will go and play with her toys whilst I tidy the kitchen and unload dishwasher from last night and put breakfast stuff in. If needed, will put a wash load on.

9:00am - quick play with DD and her toys.

9:30am - I'll have a shower. DD can join me if she wants, or have a bath tonight - choice is hers. If she chooses not to shower, she can play on her tablet for 15 mins.

9:45am - both get dressed.

10am - we'll do an activity together. Either baking, art, library trip, walk in the woods or pop to the beach etc. 2 days per week, she has a swimming lesson or ballet lesson at this time. Today she wasn't feeling 100% so we stayed home and drew pictures and practised writing skills.

11:00am - free play for my daughter whilst I tidy and clean whatever needs doing, and sort washing. If whatever I'm doing doesn't take long, then I'll join in with her play if she wants me to. Otherwise I may catch up on the news, or make any phone calls that need to be made etc.

12:00pm - start preparing lunch. Today was soup, so just needed re-heating. We'll eat together at the table and I'll tidy afterwards.

1pm - Usually another activity together, or will pop to the shops if we need anything. Had to collect a parcel and post some letters today, so we walked our dog into town. Then walked back via the park.

3pm - free play for DD whilst I do any other cleaning, tidying, washing etc that needs doing. Often will facetime family around now, as we don't see them often due to moving 250 miles away 3yrs ago.

4pm - will start prepping DD's dinner. Tonight was a previously batch cooked pasta dish, so just needed heating.
Whilst DD is sitting at the table eating her dinner, I'll start prepping mine and DW's dinner for later, and make DW's lunch for tomorrow.

5pm - DW home from work. Will normally sit and have a cup of coffee and a chat with her for half an hour whilst DD plays or chats too.

5:30pm - will take the dog out for a quick walk around the block.

6pm - DD can choose something to watch on TV. Will sit with her and have a cuddle for a bit.

6:30pm - if DD didn't shower this morning, either DW or I will give her a bath whilst the other starts cooking dinner.

7pm - bedtime for DD. I will read to her for 15-20 mins whilst DW finishes cooking dinner.

7:15pm - eat dinner with DW.

7:45pm - watch grown up TV or read a book.

8:30pm - exercise, then more TV or reading.

10pm - finish loading dishwasher and put it on. Clean and tidy kitchen. Take dog out for a wee, then sweep and mop floors.

10:30pm - bed. Will usually browse the internet for an hour or two before sleep.

I think that's pretty much it!

GlitteryUnicornSparkles · 24/01/2020 00:13

If its my days in work (I work full time but sometimes my days off are in the week and other weeks my days off are at the weekend):
I generally get up between 6 & 6.30am. I go loo, let dog out for loo and unload the dishwasher and fold any dry washing, feed dog & cats, wake my 10yr old up, make brew / his breakfast, get myself ready (whilst nagging child to get arse in gear), make bed etc, put breakfast pots in dishwasher, open downstairs curtains, nag child some more, feed & water the mice and rabbits and clean up after the dog (Try to fit in a 15 minute walk with dog at this point but sometimes my son does it as I run out of time) then leave for work at approx. 7.40am.

Get to work for approx 8.10am.
Finish work 4.30pm.
Arrive home approx. 5pm.

When I get home:
I (once a week on a work day I’ll clean the rabbits and another night I’ll do the mice), have a quick tidy round, grab a bath or a shower and put my pjs on. I then feed the cats & the dog before cooking tea at approx. 6/6.30pm. Eat tea usually around 7pm by which time I am exhausted! I then reload the dishwasher and tidy the kitchen. I put a load of washing in if needed and then have a brew and watch crap on Netflix (sometimes I’ll fall asleep) until around 10/10.30pm, I then sort out the washing into dryer & onto radiators, set the dishwasher going, make sure all the cats are in, top up mouse food, feed the axolotl (only do this once during the working week), lock up etc, brush teeth and go bed for 11/11.30pm ready to start all over the next day!

On my days off typically:
Day 1: Is my lazy day, I have a long lie in until about 11.30am, feed the animals then mostly slob about in my pjs, watching Netflix and browsing the tinterweb whilst eating crap (if its a weekend day then my son & I do this together -we’ll watch movies). I do tea, feed the animals again, load dishwasher and tidy the kitchen then slob about some more before going to bed.
Day 2: I have a lie in until around 10.30am watch a bit of tv with a brew until about 11.30am before getting myself sorted for about 12pm. I then use the rest of the day to give the house a really good blitzing, catch up on any washing, take the dog for a good walk, clean all the animals out, do the shopping etc.

On the rare occasions I make plans to go out with friends on my day(s) off (which are more often than not long country walks with our dogs) then I will get up early about 8am and arrange to meet up for around 10am getting home for 1 or 2pm so I still have the afternoons to either chill or do my chores.

Ikora · 24/01/2020 01:15

DH brings me tea in bed between 7.45 and 8.30 depending on when he is off to work.

An hours chores, decide what’s for dinner
Brisk walk for an hour, pick up ingredients if necessary

Depending on day I have the following, one on each day
Art class
Lunch with a friend before my big weekly food shop
Choir
Volunteer cook at a soup kitchen
About to start teaching basic cooking skills to food bank clients

Later afternoon I game on my console, watch a film or read. I also make a phone call most days to either MIL, my sisters or friends while I prep dinner. Family gets home between 6 and 7pm, all eat together most nights. DH and I often do The Times crossword together. Watch box sets on Netflix. We have a ballroom dancing lesson together one evening a week.

I took early retirement just before I was 50.
