Recently got some security lights for our back garden,had them up for a few weeks.Ndn has just messaged me asking where I got them from (Amazon).She then asked if I can order her some and she'll bring me cash round and would dh mind fitting them 😂😂

Well, sure! After you deliver the lights, you can clean her house and make them dinner, too.

Tell her what your DHs hourly rate is in writing and wait for a reply to the quote.

My neighbour would do that for me, though! And I would for them, though I wouldn't be much use at that sort of thing.

Is she on her own? Yes, it is a bit cheeky but if she has no-one to ask, then maybe it is more that she needs a little help in life rather than she cannot be bothered doing it herself.

I guess it depends how she asked. I think it’s ok to ask for help nicely and without expectation. If she demanded/expected it then that’s not good. Helping neighbours can be good.

Is she on her own and/or significantly older than you? I know my Nan's neighbours would do this for her as she is nearly 90 and wouldn't know how, but she'd buy them some wine/beers and a card to say thanks!

Just send her the Amazon link as a reply and say no more about it. If she does order them and she asks for help installing them, Dh can then decide if he wants to help.

She is not older or anything like that.I have said I'll order them as a one off but dh will not be putting them up

I'd order stuff for one of my neighbours! We have each others account details though and would put money in before it was ordered!

I do Amazon and M and M direct, she does eBay and a catalogue (which she lets me have credit on).

The requesting your DH to fit it is dangerous territory, it could lead to more and more requests!

It depends. Surely if you get on well and are friendly, it’s a non issue? I’d order things for and help my neighbours and so would DH. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I reckon she and her husband are useless and can't install the lights but tucking cheeky to expect your husband to do it. I'd have probably text back with laughing emoji.

I wouldn't want to even do that, because if there is an issue with the light's - you'll have to sort it out as it's your account.

Add £150 (or whatever you think makes it worthwhile) on to cost and say you will fit them for that.

I don't think it's cheeky to ask you to order if you have Amazon prime and she doesn't. It is to ask you to install unless she's offered to pay/provide services in return
