Empty sac/sacs

Hi ladies, I'm new here and just looking for some advice.
I'm 27 years old with a 4 year old son and 2 year old son. I'm currently between 5-6 weeks pregnant (difficult to tell due to irregular cycles)
I paid for a private scan yesterday to rule out ectopic due to cramping on one side.

During the scan the sonographer found an empty sac, then another potential empty sac (but mentioned that this could be a bleed)

I'm just after some advice really. Has anyone ever seen an empty sac/sacs and gone on to have a healthy pregnancy?

My LMP was 05/12/19 so according to online due date calculators I'm around 5+3.

Thank you!

Thank you I appreciate your support. It is so hard to know what to say isn’t it. In regards to my thyroid they keep telling me this won’t have been any issue they haven’t checked or monitored it at all even though I queried it’s importance. I just don’t know what to do at the moment. I feel like my heart can’t take the beating it’s going to get if it’s bad news again Monday 💔

Please keep us in your prayers as we have our re scan tomorrow. This week of waiting has been hell and I am praying for a miracle 💔

U ok?

emmajayden971 · 15/07/2020 16:01

Was admitted to hospital Tuesday for medical management as confirmed miscarriage. Worst experience of my life.

Yes I had an empty sac on an early scan, I think I was around 6/7 weeks, if had bleeding that's why I was being scanned. Was told to come back in 10 days and there was a heartbeat. That "empty" sac is 7 in October

emmajayden. I’m so so sorry to hear this, I hope you’re doing as well as can be expected Flowers

When you feel sufficiently recovered and if/when you feel ready to think about ttc again, I really would look into the thyroid problem further. I’m certain it’s part of why I took ages to conceive and then miscarried the first time (tsh too high).

Sending unmumsnetty hugs Brew

Thank you 🙏🏼 I thought it was at a manageable point but because of lockdown from the moment I found out I was pregnant they didn’t once check they said it would be a problem. I have never felt so empty/ lost in my life. I Desperately want to try again but I’m as scared to not fall pregnant as I am to fall pregnant now 😭

PumbaasCucumbas · 15/07/2020 20:24

I do know what you mean, I found the milestones (due date and still not being pregnant again for example) really hard. I really hope it happens again quickly for you.

pregnancy after mc can be a challenge in itself, the detachment you impose on yourself to protect your feelings. There are some amazing threads on here supporting women through ttc after mc and I hope you have good support IRL?

I remember feeling really tired and numb like I was a hundred years old afterwards, but it does get easier.

I will be thinking and rooting for you Flowers

Thinking of you.... life can be very cruel, when you feel ready to try again you will manage I dont know where the strength comes from but you have it within. Pregnacy will never have the same shine but your baby will be worth all the tears x

Thank you all for your support. It’s amazing to know I’m not alone. I wish it was talked about more and not hidden

Hi I hope you dont mind me joining. This is my first pregnancy. I booked a private scan yesterday (thought i was 7+2) and was hoping to see something on the abdominal scan. The sonographer found an empty gestational sac and measured it at 6+2. Ive been referred for a blood test. Has anyone else experienced the same with a positive outcome?
i had the abdominal scan instead of the internal one. could that be a reason? Confused

Mostlylurkingiam · 02/09/2020 06:35

It's quite early for a scan so you would need another one and potentially some bloods. On another note if you, or anyone has so much pain that you suspect an ectopic you should go to ED!

Hi everyone, I had a bit of cramping and some brown shows went for a scan thinking I was 7+4 but they found an empty sac so I’ve got to go back in 2 weeks so I’m expecting the worst 😢

The empty sacs at 8 and 9 weeks are now teenagers. Hope it works out ok for you.
SuzieQQQ · 27/09/2020 01:40

Not sure why they bothered doing an abdominal scan at all. They’d never see anything at 5 +3. They may not see anything on a transvaginal scan at that early. Give it another week and get a transvaginal scan.

Unexpectedover40 · 28/09/2020 07:02

I hope it does but my gut instinct tells me otherwise 😢
