Does anyone else’s husband do this?

This is our granola cereal. So high up nobody in the house can reach it without a ladder. This isn’t the only thing but I thought it is a good example!

Does anyone else’s husband do this?

@tweedler that’s hilarious! Did he use scissors too- it’s very precise!

Heh I remember when I asked husband to hang mirrors. I could only see the top of my head in them Grin

It wasn't malicious, just unthinking.

Yes, we have had a heated exchange regarding this.

I can't reach the blind cord (cut too short) to close any of our the blinds or the top shelf in any of our kitchen cupboards. I can't reach to close the kitchen windows either.

I have a universal potato masher for windows and either a pair of tongs or fish slice for cupboards.

I got a collapsible step stool from BnQ for about £4 which lives in the pantry which is really sturdy and useful for top shelves.

Yep. I am 5'2 and dp is 6'4. He doesnt even find it strange i need to climb ontop of all kitchen cabinets to reach stuff like food plates or the toaster. But when i move stuff to the bottom cupboards he complains none stop that its too low down and hurts his back.

Yes. my DH does, but my dc always get hope of the bounty.

DH does this, he used to do it when the kids were little but DD1’s taller than me now so it’s a bit pointless 😂

When we got the kitchen fitted, we got floor units only. No wall units at all. 😉

Yes! There's over a foot between us and he puts everything really high up.
He knows I hate things being stored on top of cupboards anyway so he pushes them right to the back.
He also really annoys me off when we go for a walk and he snoops over fences and comments on gardens etc which I can't see.

All the blood time. He's a foot taller than me and often puts things too high. The worst is when he puts sharp things up high on top of things I can reach. So they fall down on me when I get the thing I can reach as I don't know they're there.

And while we're at it, doing things up tighter than the machine at the factory. I can open a new jar a jam. But I have no chance with one he's put the lid back on. Drives me up the feckin wall.

DP super tightens lids. I have to use a rubber glove to open the tonic water fgs! He doesn't put things up too high for me though - we discuss where mirrors will be hung, etc.

I had to swap pigeon holes with my new boss the other day because she couldn't reach hers. Also found I'd accidentally put all our kidneys bowls on a shelf so high my colleague can't reach them.
It's easy to forget you're tall!

Yup! I am an average 5ft 4in. My problem is that DH is actually ok around the house until he doesn't know where something goes. Does he ask? Does he hell. It goes on top of the tall fridge freezer, on top of the kitchen wall units or (for assorted items) on top of the mega tall bookcase in the hall. I now get my toddler toilet step out when I can't find anything and check all those places first!

CuckooCuckooClock · 17/01/2020 21:54

Yes dh does this. As do PIL. The worst is the top shelf of the fridge. I can see the jam through the glass shelf, but I can’t get it!
Tall fuckers the lot of them. I’m forced to make loads of passive aggressive comments to the dc.

No. As I'm not married to a petty twat.

If you are make them stop it

My 6 foot 3 DH once put a mirror up for me. I could only see the top of my head in it. He apologised, as i laughed, and moved it down a bit more.

I'm taller than DH and I do this! Not sorry

Yes. This is our snow shovel, stored in the roof joists of our garage. Helpfully next to the ladder I’d need to reach it.

When I first moved in to his house, we had to put coat hooks up at my level, and turn all the mirrors from landscape to portrait so I could see in them. 20 years on, he tends to check levels are ok for me, but sometimes he just forgets I’m a small person. Stuff put on top of the fridge freezer is a problem for me too.

No. As I'm not married to a petty twat.

ODFOD. It’s not petty, just sometimes forgetful. I daresay I do stuff forgetting he is a tall person. He just doesn’t complain about it.

Does anyone else’s husband do this?

Yes all of the above, mirrors that are useless for me, delicious treats out of reach on top of cupboards but not out of sight, the tease. The worst thing is the over tightening, jars, bottles and fitting the expensive bathroom hand basin (cracked the porcelain basin, had to order another).

@Orchidflower1 he measured the bread.

He is a very literal person, I have to remember at times to think about any instructions that may be given Grin
