To have only just taken down my Christmas tree!?

In my defence, I have a lot of fragile glass ornaments on it...they're very old in some cases so taking down the tree means individually wrapping each ornament!

I just couldn't face it and before I knew it, it was the 16th! When did you take yours down? Has anyone still got one up?

Or what

Elf on the shelf goes savage like a gremlin

Normally I do it whenever is convenient in the first week of January. This year, I caught Covid and didn't feel well enough to take them down (two trees). I managed the smaller one about a week ago and did the bigger one this afternoon.

Mines staying up until Candlemas this year. As nearly every other year. One year it was up until Easter as I was determined to do Christmas properly after a very nauseous early pregnancy.

Ours is still up.

Talking of the elf on the shelf, there’s no way I’d be doing that still if I had young kids at home.

Although some kids would love it during these difficult times it would be a bit of a nightmare for parents to think up ideas.

Love Christmas and the build up but I have to be restrained from taking it down on 27th Dec. Once it’s over, it just feels melancholy to me. Felt like that for as long as I can remember.

Not at all. I'm superstitious so usually mine only ever goes up the first weekend in December, and always comes down on the 6th January.
However due to circumstances this time I didn't actually get to finish the tree and turn it on until Christmas Day, I didn’t finish it properly so I was happy with it (doing the last move of lights, making sure it looks right and securing the leads to the table leg so they can't be seen. Tree has to go on a table because of the height of the window) until Boxing Day, and we, well I just hadn't had long enough to enjoy it and couldn’t take it down on the 6th. So I've left the tree up until Candlemas on the 2nd February. Not even sorry. (Everything else, cards, sons Father Christmas sign from the window, ornaments and decorations are all away though). Will start closing the shutters again when I feel we’ve subjected the neighbours to it enough).
I always miss it when I have to take it down, the room feels so empty and dark.

I took mine down yesterday

Mine is still up. I used to always take it down on the 6th January but then I didn’t last year and nothing bad happened. I decided to keep it up longer this year because it has been such a dreary 12 months and it cheers me up. I will take it down on the 2nd February.
