I hate exercising 😖

I have no will power to do and I am yet to find a type that I enjoy.

I've been to gyms, classes, running etc... And I never continue because I just don't enjoy doing it.

If you felt like this but then found a form of exercise you surprisingly enjoyed, what was it? What can I try?

It's not so much about losing weight as I'm not over weight but more just keeping generally fit.

Dog walking is my favourite though dog is now dead so it's cross trainer or treadmill with a good audio book.

MidnightCircus · 14/01/2020 17:55

I also hate exercising but I walk a lot (don't drive), and bought an exercise bike from Amazon. Was only £80 but found cycling whilst watching netflix (something I'm doing anyway) is actually quite good! Doesn't feel like much effort but do get quite a sweat on. Guess it's doing something! Yoga with Adrienne is also fantastic, she does some great ones, especially for sleep. Don't take long but do help stretch the knots out and really helps to relax.

Movinghouseatlast · 14/01/2020 17:57

Zumba and Pilates.

Thorilicious · 14/01/2020 18:06

I've got an app on my phone called Beauty Workout. There's a range of work outs on there and none take more than 20 minutes. I do one while ds has lunch, it's easier to do when I know it won't last long!

redcarbluecar · 14/01/2020 18:16

Swimming works for me.

AnnieTotach · 14/01/2020 18:21

Honestly? Running. I did c25k about 2 years ago and it's well worth the effort. Running gives you the most bang for your buck calorie wise and you can do it when you want. I cant say I enjoy it (still waiting for those "endorphins") but now I don't feel I'll die when I run its tolerable.

trilbydoll · 14/01/2020 18:25

Climbing, although it's trickier on your own you can go bouldering (lower walls without ropes)

Thingsdogetbetter · 14/01/2020 18:29

Weightlifting. Tried EVERY type of exercise going, and never managed to break my 6 weeks 'bored now' barrier. Been doing weights for 6+ months now. (Go me!). Turns out i hate the feeling that my lungs are going to explode, but no problem at all with feeling that my heart and muscles will. Now go 4 or 5 times a week (friends are gobsmacked!).

SmallPinkBear · 14/01/2020 18:32

Do you enjoy dancing? I do the Body by Simone app. I love the 30 minute live classes, the time goes so quickly and I feel so much better afterwards. I also use the glo yoga app. They all do free trials so just have a go, and make sure you do more than one as the first time can feel a bit overwhelming

I ran from my teens until my 50's and it was great exercise but left me with a torn ligament in my right hip. That's a very common running injury according to my orthopedist. I could get it surgically repaired but I'd be on crutches for two months afterwards.

So now I walk, very briskly and using real Saucony walking shoes, 3-5 miles per day. It's very good exercise and I listen to the news or podcasts on my phone while I walk so I don't really mind the time. It also burns a lot of calories.

Coulddowithanap · 16/01/2020 19:25

I love pole fitness, it's the only exercise I have stuck with. It's so much fun and most of the class is spent laughing.

piefacedClique · 16/01/2020 19:26

We bought a Peleton.... I am a self confessed sloth but I’ve been on it every day.... sometime two or three times plus I’ve been doing the floor workouts and meditation.... quick and convenient.

Bloodybridget · 16/01/2020 19:26

Rowing. Also like walking. And Pilates, but I don't know if that really counts.

Toomanycats99 · 16/01/2020 19:36

Circuit training/ bmf type stuff. Fast paced lots of different activities and nothing f needing any rhythm! I also just recently tried boxing with a personal trainer and really liked it!

Disquieted1 · 16/01/2020 19:36

I do nothing. I detest physical exercise and life's too short.

HaggisMuncher · 16/01/2020 19:46

I'm a latecomer to exercise but have found that I really enjoy circuit classes and a ladies kickboxing class, much to my surprise. Having someone tell me what to do and when to do it is the only way to make me exercise regularly. Plus hitting things can be very satisfying after a day at work or with the kids...

Itstheprinciple · 16/01/2020 20:00

Pilates is the only exercise I actually enjoy.

goldenorbspider · 16/01/2020 20:01

Weighted hula hooping! I love it. Wack on my music at home.

alittleprivacy · 16/01/2020 20:07

Skating. Either roller, inline or ice. Pretty much one of the best aerobic and anaerobic exercises there is as it’s a massive calorie burner and all over muscle builder. But it’s also just about the most fun you can have with your clothes on. It’s just like being a kid playing, you never want to stop and a few months down the line your fitter and more ripped than you’d have ever imagined.

EmMcK · 16/01/2020 20:09

Boxing training! Amazing work out and SO good for relieving stress. My BIL has been the recipient of so many of my hits on the bag and my core strength is finally recovered after the children.

williams345 · 16/01/2020 20:10

Running to the chip shop before it closes

1300cakes · 17/01/2020 01:32

I've given up trying to find something I like (there is nothing), next best is finding something that is over quickly so I do a HIIT class.

PapayaCoconut · 17/01/2020 01:34

Walking with the buggy. I do it for hours. I fucking hate running more than anything in the world though.

NeckPainChairSearch · 17/01/2020 01:36

I love yoga and ballet.

PrincessPain · 17/01/2020 04:33

I'm super lazy, have a 9mo and a 2yo and can only really do things while they nap on the sofa.
I've been doing a really old celebrity fitness dvd.
I used to do the same one 12 years ago, and i did it so much back then that I still know every move, so it's easy to follow and I can do at home.
(Its Charlie Brooks if anyone interested)
I put in 100% effort yesterday, I am very overweight so will burn more calories but I burned over 700 (according to my Fitbit) just doing the dvd.
