As title says, neighbour sits in her car on the road for hours with engine running, smoking fags, flicking buts out of her car onto pavement. Hours as in 3/4 hours. Can MN give me the balls to man up, can you give me words of wisdom to confront her (while she is sitting in her car)Smile

To be honest my neighbour does this. I live in a terraced house with no drive and windows open at night. Its pot luck where you get to park. The noise drives me mad. I would say something but kindly as like others say there could be allsorts going on there. Its very antisocial to sit outside with the engine on. Not bad for a minute but 3 or 4 hours is not great at all.

Isn't this actually illegal? I seem to remember something about a law being passed on people sitting for ages in vehicles with the engine running? Or maybe I imagined it.

Just googled it. It IS an offence for which you can be fined wait for it 20 pounds!

I wonder if she’s still there from January this year?

Gosh the noise would bother me but I’d worry if she was ok - maybe she is scared to go home?

How cars work is if you are running ANYTHING atoll it will drain the battery as it gets charged from the engine so if you don't keep the engine on or at least turn it on occasionally you'll get a flat battery then everyone will be moaning when the car can't get shifted. Also all these emission comments if it means so much to you I presume you all don't have a car and take public transport everywhere and cycle? A car parked produces far less emissions than driving somewhere as that is how engines work at producing emissions in the first place. Look up how cars work on google. Also I frequently sit in my car to get out of the house to get away from the man I live with as I am userally in my room and his moods are very unstable,I highly doubt she she will be sitting in a car for hours smoking for "fun". I also have to keep the engine running as I have serious health issues and circulation problems and HAVE to have heat or I can't feel my feet. How do you know she hasn't these issues eaither? I can't believe how petty some of you are,Oh to have only petty worries in my life I really do envy some people,Oh to have support,a nice surrounding and not have to leave your home frequently for some peace and she could be leaving for her own safety, When you live with someone with problems it can take hours for them to calm down you don't have a choice,I do however userally go and park somewhere but unfortunately I don't have enough money for the petrol to do this alot so not moving the car is the only option for me frequently.Maybe before anyone casts judgement and comments to this poor woman maybe think before you speak and actually use your brain ,I doubt any of you would even ask if she was OK as I'm sure the op would have done so by now if her welfare was even a thought as it says alot about someone posting this to get the opinions from other fisherman's wife's on here.Just because life has been lucky for you don't presume people have not far more serious issues than you. Empathy doesn't cost anything.Be kind to one another.>>>>PEACE<<<<<
