Typed ‘nappy rash’ into google to look for a alternate barrier cream and lots of images of babies with nappy rash completely naked. Some with their legs wide open. Who would upload these pictures?!

I know it is just showing the reality of nappy rash and is perfectly innocent but made me feel really uncomfortable

What else did you expect to see?

WireBrushAndDettolMaam · 06/01/2020 21:13

Did you search images rather than shopping? Confused

1Morewineplease · 06/01/2020 21:14

Tis the way of the web.

HollowTalk · 06/01/2020 21:15

I remember reading a statement online in about 2001 from the police, talking about how they investigated people who were on the lookout for that sort of picture for less innocent reasons. I was horrified that paedophiles would search for nappies, bottles etc. According to the statement it said that clicks on certain pictures were logged and matched with what else you looked at. Does anyone know whether this would be true now? The internet has exploded since those days.

Properfatty · 06/01/2020 21:19

So if someone searched for bottles and nappies they’d be on a police watch list?

Thefaceofboe · 06/01/2020 21:21

@HollowTalk @Properfatty God, worried that I typed nappy rash now!

Yes OP it is vile, though hopefully this won't encourage anyone to go looking....

Was appalled a few years ago when searching for medical info and seeing similar images in the first page of the search when it seemed extremely unnecessary and was not what i was ( bloody obviously) looking to see at all. I reported them to google which i believe you can still do, if you think it should be removed.

HollowTalk · 06/01/2020 21:32

What it was saying was that everything you do online can be monitored. If someone was looking at pregnancy tests, forums for new mums, nappies, etc and no porn, then they'd be under the radar, but if someone was looking eg at photos of lactating women and nappies and things I won't mention here, then they would be on the radar.

eosmum · 06/01/2020 21:36

Have you tried cornflour for the nappy rash. Worked on my DS when absolutely nothing else did.

Thefaceofboe · 06/01/2020 21:39

@eosmum Thanks, do you mean just the flour or mixed with water? It’s actually for my niece who is staying with us this week. She gets constant nappy rash and my sister has tried every cream under the sun but it just comes back

OP posts:
Notanotheruser111 · 06/01/2020 21:44

Has she tried different nappy brands, I had a child whose rash was really persistent, we ended up changing nappies in desperation and it disappeared

Thefaceofboe · 06/01/2020 21:46

@Notanotheruser111 she’s in pampers premium protection atm as these seem like the only ones that don’t cause huge flare ups. Her nappy is changed often but after a poo her bum is red raw Sad

Pleasegodgotosleep · 06/01/2020 21:46

Try egg white. Separate from yolk and keep.in fridge. Dab on after nappy change and let it dry before putting on new nappy. Works as a complete barrier but only if no egg allergy!

Thefaceofboe · 06/01/2020 21:48

@Pleasegodgotosleep thanks so much, will pass onto my sister. She is at her wits end I think she will try anything

Janaih · 06/01/2020 21:49

She may have thrush in which case you'll need to put casnastrn on and the yellow stuff on top, but see a doc to confirm

FoxBaseBeta · 06/01/2020 21:55

Sounds like she needs Canesten from the GP, DD suffered terribly as a baby.
If I were you though I'd ask for this thread to be deleted and start a new one if you're looking for advice on nappy rash

MynameisJune · 06/01/2020 21:56

For the nappy rash put yellow metanium on and then put sudacrem on top so that the nappy doesn't rub the metanium off. Make sure it's only a thin layer of metanium. If your sister can't get a GP appointment go to a pharmacy and ask for fungal cream like canesten. Don't say it's for an under 2 as most won't give it to you but it's fine to use. My GP wouldn't prescribe and told me to lie to the pharmacist to get it for 8 month old DD2.

SoupDragon · 06/01/2020 22:04

The only thing that worked for DD was using Vaseline as a barrier. If I forgot it, she'd be red all over.

annualleavepurchase · 06/01/2020 22:08

Metanium yellow cream is amazing. Works in a day.

Lulualla · 06/01/2020 22:08

Maybe type 'nappy rash treatment or prevention'. Obviously if you only google the name of the condition, you will get a a bunch of photos of the condition. Treatment wont be the main thing which appears.

Ohtherewearethen · 06/01/2020 22:11

How old is your neice? Food/drinks can aggravate nappy rash, eg milk and orange juice/tomato based foods. I find calendula cream works really well. Metanium drives me mad. You can never get the lid back on the tube and it makes a hell of a mess.

babycatcher411 · 06/01/2020 22:13

Has she tried/considered reusables? It’s supposedly meant to reduce the risk/occurrence of nappy rash

But going back to your original point, I agreed, I can’t understand why someone would post such exposing images of children regardless of the condition

TheMustressMhor · 06/01/2020 22:21

You don't need a prescription for Canestan cream.

Ask the pharmacist for generic clotrimazole. It's cheaper.

Elmo230885 · 06/01/2020 22:30

I know it's not really answering the opening post but I am oils recommend reusable nappies. I use them for DS and he has never had any nappy rash at all. Didn't have them for DD and she had some bouts, usually around teething. Clotromizole cream should clear up the rash which you'd need to get on top off before switching as you can't use creams or barriers with reusables. You don't need a prescription for Clotromizole, just ask the pharmacist.

blueshoes · 06/01/2020 22:30

I hope this is not too obvious but if your sister is using wet wipes, she should stop immediately and just use toilet paper dipped in water. It is handy to have one of these wash bowls: www.baby-express.net/Rotho-Wash-bowl-with-2-compartments-tender-rose-perl.html

My dcs had bad nappy rash until I swapped to this (which is environmentally better than wipes) and the nappy rash disappeared quickly.
