TV nudity is it just me?

Not sure if this is the right category but wanted people's opinions.

I've noticed I feel uncomfortable watching shows or films that show just female nudity.
It really bothers me when it just feels like it's done for the sake of it and the male cast members aren't equally as nude or not nude at all. I don't feel bothered when it makes sense to the story or is artistic as such.

I've put it down to being pregnant right now and not feeling attractive but I also notice I feel its a lot to do with me feeling like it's not fair that often it's just women and male actors you might see a bum but i don't feel it's the same to a women having her breasts out or do you think it is?

I read an article the other day I think it was in the metro about Emilia Clarke and how she really struggled and felt pressured into nude scenes in game of thrones and now I wonder if all these young actresses feel like that at times.

I'm also young in my 20s but feel as I'm getting older I've noticed just how unequal stuff like this is in the media and TV and film.

I'm not good at articulating my point of view. Do I need to work on my self esteem or am I right to feel these things and not alone in that.

Started watching episode 5 said calmly I didn't want to watch it anymore and I'm met with uh feminism just him saying that and saying that's fine and to turn it over. I was like there having a orgy but only the woman are naked how does that work and he said feminism and I said don't you mean sexisim but he kept saying nah feminism.
So can't really talk to him when I'm met with that.

Yeah TV has gone weird over the last decade or so, it’s like every violent incident in the story has to have graphic close ups of gore and every sex scene has to have close ups of all the female body parts. Very odd, uncomfortable to watch and just shit tv basically. I assume the tv companies have hired a lot of male frustrated teenagers or something 🤷‍♀️

Yep completely agree. I refuse to watch GofT because of the gratuitous violence but also it’s just a wank fest and it’s always female nudity.

I watched Bancroft this week and yep defo the same thing - the sex scene in the caravan, absolutely did not need to pan down to her boobs.

I didn't think about that I guess a guys erection would be pretty out there! Haha
I was thinking maybe bum with bit of ball bag would be equal grin haha I kid.

What is allowable on screen these days. My DD (17) and I watched Under The Skin (Cert 15) the other day in which Scarlet Johanssen (the third-highest-grossing box office star of all time) spent a lot of time naked (not that either of us were complaining) as well as sharing the screen with several naked men (ditto) - she played a serial killing alien - one of whom was definitely in a state of excitement as he walked towards the camera. News to me, but in 2019 You can show erections in Cert 15 movies, folks.

Mainstream arthouse goes even further, Love (Cert 18) by Gaspar Noé - I bought my copy in my local PDSA charity shop opens with a MF mutual masturbation sequence which ends in on screen ejaculation followed by three hours of self-indulgent French angst and hardcore in and out and three way sex. It gets very boring.

I am not a prude at all but I just want a good storyline.
I've purposely been looking for TV series and films to watch these past few months that don't have any sex in them or absolutely very little.

I think Game Of Thrones put me off the most because the story was so good and I watched the series avidly but there was too much sex and nudity and when Cersei had to do that Walk of Atonement through the streets naked...I thought this has gone beyond the realms of what is really necessary.

@Biancadelrioisback I didn't realise they had used a body double
I am glad that Lean Headey refused to do those scenes.

There’s a lot of it in orange is the new black

The one that gets me is the porn-inspired orgasm face and fake moaning, while the guy is totally mute.

YANBU. I enjoyed The Witcher but I was sick of the sight of Anya Chalotra's boobs by the end of it!

@Whythoughlol I feel angry for you that your DP dismissed you like that. I think it is important that you tell him how it makes you feel and for him to listen to you and not just dismiss it as feminism. You should be able to talk to him about it and if you don't this will pop up again at some point.
