Dog urinating on bush

spingly · 04/01/2020 22:56

So, on the local FB page someone has a large front garden. About 3 ft into the garden they have a rose bush (they planted it, it's of sentimental value and they've had it 20 years moved from another property). no wall, no fence, local dogs keep weeing on it, they do go into the garden to do it.

The home owners are threatening legal action, they're using CCTV to fond culprits.

I am not involved, but locals are but who if anyone IBU?

@Upso because they should keep them off his garden? He's getting a lot of flack telling him he is unreasonable.

Assuming the dogs are out with owners, the owners shouldn't be allowing the dogs onto someone else's property!

I'd be furious if I was the bush owner!

VivaLeBeaver · 04/01/2020 23:00

That’s grim of the dog owners and I say that as a dog owner.

zoobincan · 04/01/2020 23:00

I am surprised you need to ask!

Dog owners are allowing their pets to piss in someone else's garden, dog owners are obviously at fault.

Shakirasma · 04/01/2020 23:01

The dog owners who allow their dog on to other peoples garden to urinate are unreasonable.

We have seen people allow their dogs to wee on our front lawn and it infuriates me. As a dog owner myself I know it's not hard to prevent your dog wandering on other people's gardens. Theres no excuse for it.

ZigZagIntoTheBlue · 04/01/2020 23:01

Dog owners are being unreasonable, they should have control of their dogs in residential areas

spingly · 04/01/2020 23:01

@zoobincan my reason for asking and you may have cross posted is because many are telling him that he's wrong. So I thought I'd get opinion.

Dogs wee in my garden, there's no fence so that's my problem

somewhereovertherainbutt · 04/01/2020 23:09

Dogs wee where others have - perhaps they should put up a fence if it's a special memorial? Jeez. Common sense, surely...

Elieza · 04/01/2020 23:11

Electric fence Grin

spingly · 04/01/2020 23:12

@somewhereovertherainbutt that's a very good point, hadn't thought of that.

Once one dog has weed there, the others will have a powerful urge to urine mark there too.

Owners should control them, but they probably think, "it's just wee". I've never tried, but it may be difficult to stop a dog weeing once it's decided to.

You need to find out how to neutralise the urine scent that is already present.

Duck90 · 04/01/2020 23:28

But, it isn’t hard to stop your dog going 3 foot into someone’s front garden! That’s really rude.

People can be quite thoughtless, I’ve seen someone letting their dog wee on my car wheel.

TrainspottingWelsh · 04/01/2020 23:33

If it was on the perimeter then I'd say they are bu. But it's not acceptable to let your dog onto someone else's garden at all, let alone for a wee.

PitterPatterOfBigFeet · 04/01/2020 23:35

Well people are being unreasonable to let their dogs roam into someone's garden. If the dogs were weeing from the road it would be maybe slightly annoying but OK I'm not sure why anyone would actually allow their dog into someone's garden though especially to wee there!

Cuddling57 · 04/01/2020 23:35

I own a dog and wouldn't let my dog wee there. It's someone's garden!
How are they getting there? Are they off lead or on retractable leads? I don't understand.

JamieVardysHavingAParty · 04/01/2020 23:37

They're probably the same people who think it's fine to leave their dogs' excrement on the pavement, aren't they?

If people don't acknowledge how disgusting it is for everyone to look where they tread to avoid faeces on their shoes, small hope that they'll pull their dog away from someone's rose bush if it wants to go there.

spingly · 04/01/2020 23:46

The person had taken down the FB post now, except for one person everyone was saying get over it! Now it maybe that they're not a popular person and i just don't know them.

Interesting thoughts on here which is literally the opposite of what happened.

Is it definitely IN the garden?

goodwinter · 04/01/2020 23:49

I would never let my dog pee on anything if they had to go into someone's garden to do it! I do let him pee on bushes that separate someone's front garden from the side of the road, if that makes sense - as in the bushes that go along the pavement.

spingly · 04/01/2020 23:51

@MsChnandlerBong yep a dog would have to (just if it was a big dog) step slightly into the garden.

OP posts:
Sayhellotothethings · 04/01/2020 23:55

The dog owners are BU. They shouldn't let their dog on to somebody's front garden, even if it is a few feet in.

My dog occasionsally wees on DMs bush in her garden. She doesn't care. I get some horrified looks from passers by, but that is basically his home from home! It's the only time I allow it.

MsChnandlerBong · 04/01/2020 23:55

I've got to be honest, my big dog will piss on every bush, rose or otherwise, if I let him. I don't though. If he is lagging behind and cocks a leg I am sorry but he's 99% at heel. Honestly, most dog owners are absolute useless lazy bastards who wanted a fluffy toy and paid for it. Those of us who aren't, we are the icebergs in the sea of incompetence!

PennyArcade · 04/01/2020 23:56

A gate and appropriate fencing would prevent a dog entering a property and pissing on a bush.
