IME an sma dad is one who promises to do all those things with the baby(while you are staill bf)then in reality, when you stop bf,does sweet fa

hang on a minute,is it very common for ff 6 month+babies to wake in the night?

ruddynorah · 27/08/2007 22:15

you are meant to not realise it is a 6month baby. did they show the baby in the ad? was it very small? snuggled up in blankets so it was hard to tell what exact age it was?

mumclaire · 27/08/2007 22:18

oh of course very small in mums arms and in a darkened room they do feature older looking babies as well... sorry only seen it once so can't remember a lot.. just that I was an emotional wreck at the end...

Ah yes, sharing the night feeds. One of the big benefits of bottles . Dh was very excited about feeding ds and gung ho about night feeds in the early days when I had to express a lot. I well remember one 3am wakening when I suggested dh might give ds the bottle in the fridge. No. Way.

I got my own back though. Now that there's rarely milk involved dh does virtually all the night wakenings and I don't budge.

JodieG1 · 27/08/2007 22:37

Just seen this advert and the babies looked much younger than 6 months, sneaking advertising. Bollocks was my first thought actually, very underhand of them

Desiderata · 27/08/2007 22:39

Oh, who cares? Honestly? All advertising is underhand by it's very nature.

SpeccieSeccie · 27/08/2007 22:43

Please don't let's make this another ff/bf row! There really is no need. The OP just thought it was sweet. Yes it's emotive marketing but then I cry at loo roll adverts, etc. Actually, I cry at anything with cute children or nice loving parents. I'm an ad man's dream.

FlameBatfink · 27/08/2007 22:43

Common for my 18 month old to wake up in the night

Desiderata · 27/08/2007 22:44

Precisely, speccie!

JodieG1 · 27/08/2007 22:44

Well, I care, it's wrong of them. No arguements but it's wrong and I bet they made that advert with younger babies in mind.

Desiderata · 27/08/2007 22:46

Oh, lighten up! Has it never occurred to you that other members of the family might actually like to feed their own flesh and blood as well?

ScottishMummy · 27/08/2007 22:48

it is just an advert not sinister subliminal underhand campaign to undermine BF. all marketing has the specific aim to market kind of obvious that a manufacturer wishes to enhance profits

Formula if u dont want to buy it dont buy it, but dont understand why it gets such extreme reaction

Desiderata · 27/08/2007 22:50

Nor do I, SM.

None of us are dumb. We make informed choices.

Twinklemegan · 27/08/2007 22:54

I agree with Jodie. It sounds like a deliberate attempt to get around the marketing ban, but I'd expect nothing less. They definitely set out to exploit the hormone-fuelled emotions of pregnant women (like mumclaire, and probably me if I'd seen it). It sounds like they're on dodgy ground as with the new logo.
However, I still find it very hard to believe that anyone would make such an important decision (with caveat if it is theirs to make) on the basis of a TV ad!

ScottishMummy · 27/08/2007 22:58

who has actually seen this advert then - not i. astonished posters think formula is so wrong mere marketing pernicious and capeable of so much brainwashing

ScottishMummy · 27/08/2007 23:02

Unclench - just an advert - thats all

harpsichordcarrier · 27/08/2007 23:03

blimey, desi, I didn't know you had moved to Utopia .

Desiderata · 27/08/2007 23:03

I haven't seen it. I did ask mumclaire earlier on in the thread, but I don't yet know what channel it was on.

Desiderata · 27/08/2007 23:04

I moved there half-past last Wednesday, harpsi

JodieG1 · 27/08/2007 23:04

If advertising didn't work they wouldn't spend millions on it....

Others can feed their flshe and blood ebm not only formula, typos as bfds2 andleft handed typing

Twinklemegan · 27/08/2007 23:05

Just re-read my post. Just to clarify, I'm not pregnant now.

harpsichordcarrier · 27/08/2007 23:06

and how is it there, desi, with no stupid people

ScottishMummy · 27/08/2007 23:07

Jodie you are digresing no one asked how you feed your baby - your private business, as indeedy it is private business of ff mums.
