Its a whole thing with a dad saying things like I promise that I will wake up in the night and I promise I will tell you how proud I am of you and other heart wrenching things arrgghhh can't even post without blubbing...(btw this is not a thread about the pros and cons of formula - although admit it is a bit of cynical marketing)

Not that I'm a fan of the bf/ff debate, but I thought that formula milk marketing was illegal?

I bet dad would be even prouder if mum was feeding baby herself (can I say that??) and he wouldn't have to get up in the night.

yeah, i saw that. it was for follow on milk, but babies in the ads were very young

Ahh but illegal to advertise 6ths plus which is what it is for... no don't think its subtext is anti-bf but certainly designed to reach emotional mothers!!

ahh - but you see they may still have to get up in the night - if I had continued to exclusively BF DS3 and returned to my old job in February then DH would have to get up and give him a bottle of EMB

oh I always made sure dh woke up everytime I did - even if he couldn't do anything - very good at making a lot of noise getting out of bed!

oh - and lets not forget when they wake up and need their nappy changing (works especially well if you're co-sleeping we found with DS1) - you lie in bed - hand baby over to DH - he clambers out, faffs around in the semi darkness (with baby screaming in his ear) - he then hands baby back and you both snuggle down to sleep together again LOL.
