Put your hands in front of you with your index fingers pointing at each other about 1cm apart

Rotate them simultaneously so they stay in time with each other but one has to go away from you and the other has to come towards you.

My teenagers say you're welcome.

I find it easy. Don’t play an instrument but I do ballet xx

schoolcats · 03/01/2020 16:27

I now have visions of a ballet dancer being able to twirl legs in opposite directions Grin

I can do it easy, both ways. Guitarist and drummer if that means owt.

hiddenmnetter · 03/01/2020 17:43

It's quite easy. Point your index fingers to each other and then rotate them in opposite directions. One rotates clock wise, the other anti clock wise. At the same time.

That I can do, and find it easy. I'm a guitarist and a pianist if that seems to be the difference. I suppose it's training to teach your hands to do different things simultaneously...

That chair thing?! I was already to astound DH with something I could do but he couldn't. Except he could do it. Easily. 😡

justdeckingthehalls1 · 03/01/2020 18:09

He can't do the fingers though, so I feel a bit better

Damntheman · 03/01/2020 18:12

I also find it easy but I'm a professional musician.

AthelstaneTheUnready · 03/01/2020 18:40

Easy. Piano player like the rest though.

TabbyStar · 03/01/2020 18:47

Why do some people find this hard? anyone know?

You've not done it before, so you don't have the neural pathways in your brain to do it, and the only thing that creates them is by repeating it until the neurons fire together. It's basically the same way we learn to do anything, including how kids learn to move / walk etc. People who can do it have appropriate neural pathways for some other reason, e.g. playing an instrument as mentioned.

That’s a pilates thing (lying down, obviously). And yes, I can do that too.

edsheeransgingerbeard · 04/01/2020 12:45

I STILL don't understand what I'm supposed to do!!!! I'm pointing gingers at each other then rotating my hands? How else can it be done? Can someone please show me a video???

WheresMyChocolate · 04/01/2020 13:53

You have to rotate both fingers clockwise or both counter clockwise

No you don't, the whole point is that one is clockwise and one is counter clockwise.

In which case it easy as they naturally go in opposite directions, it getting them to go the same way that's difficult.

bridgetreilly · 04/01/2020 14:10

I think you mean draw a circle with, not rotate, right? Because you can't rotate one finger without rotating the whole hand, and that's easy to do - at least as far as your wrists will let you.

iklboo · 04/01/2020 14:19

Yes but I can also pat my head & rub my tummy, swap hands and still be patting my head & rubbing my tummy.

CurlyMango · 04/01/2020 22:30

It’s easy
