Or Should I go back and pay ?

Realised from reading the other post about the lady who walked out of the restaurant without paying that I may have done something similar but interested in opinions. I took my young daughter for a trim. I'd already asked the cost on the phone and she said £10. I specifically told the hairdresser before she started she still needed to be able to tie it up in a bun for ballet. I literally looked away for a second and she had an ear length bob. Daughter had curly hair midway down her back originally so it then sprang up more. I said to the hairdresser I'm not sure how I'm going to get that in a bun, she then attempted it herself and agreed it wouldn't go even go into a ponytail. Dd was a bit upset and I was panicking slightly as dd is a nightmare about her hair. Didn't want to make dd more upset so tried to be positive and went to the desk to pay. Hairdresser said they didn't have a card machine so I said I'd go to atm. Whilst walking to atm dd starts crying, I'm getting more angry at the hair cock up and inwardly cursing hairdresser. I get money out of atm, walk back to the shop and find it closed. We go past this shop frequently but I've never bothered to go back in and pay. My instinct when I read the previous post about the restaurant was that she should have paid but given my own actions perhaps I'm being a hypocrite?

I met friends at a carvary style pub for breakfast months ago. She had already arrived and her children had started eating so I grabbed a plate and headed to the buffet. It was only when I was half way home I realised I hadn’t paid! Friend had purchased a buffet ticket as soon as she arrived but no-one asked me at all and I totally forgot about it. I had a 3 week old baby so am blaming hormones but I haven’t been back in to admit my my mistake.

I wouldn't pay and I would have complained, they stuffed up by not giving you the service you asked for. Don't feel bad about it at all.

feelinglost02 · 03/01/2020 12:31

@WombatChocolate I think that's probably very sensible advice. I think I should have handled it slightly differently and wouldn't do the same again for my own peace of mind but I actually do think they didn't want the confrontation either

Meh, normal people would warn you they are closing and stay until it was paid or chase it up. They shut quick because they knew they had fucked it up. I wouldn't even give this a second thought and most people in the real world wouldn't either.

BloggersBlog · 03/01/2020 12:36

Those of you picking up on me looking away for one second obviously that wasn't a totally accurate comment. It's something people say!

True, it is a saying until you use the word 'literally' as you did, then it becomes a fact/means exactly. Dont add the word if you didnt mean it Hmm

@BloggersBlog don't be a condescending know it all. I'm well aware of what words mean thank you. I acknowledged it was the wrong phrase

@Saltdoughmuncher that's very brave if you to admit lol

I think you should refused to pay at the time or you need to go back and explain. If you dont get a satisfactory answer, then suggest writing a letter of complaint and ask why they didnt follow your instructions.

You should put a review on google and so forth and warn your friends.

Your daughter will get over it and perhaps a good thing for her to deal with a hair issue before being a teenager!

GiveHerHellFromUs · 03/01/2020 12:59

@Hepsibar it was one mistake that the hairdresser admitted to and she never chased car payment. Shit reviews online is a bit harsh

rainbow1982 · 03/01/2020 13:11

Balls to going back and paying they made a bloody mess of it! 😡They clearly know that to close when you specifically said you were only going to the atm

BloggersBlog · 03/01/2020 13:57

Grin I will be whatever I chose thanks!

SoupDragon · 03/01/2020 14:08

I will be whatever I chose thanks

Did you mean "choose" rather than "chose"...?
