YABU. I don't want any fucking fireworks left to go off by midnight. Some of us need to get up for work in the morning.

ItsNovemberNotChristmas · 31/12/2019 21:18

they've been going off since 4.30 here, non stop

Notso · 31/12/2019 21:19

Bore off, my kids like fireworks but can't stay up until midnight.

Lipz · 31/12/2019 21:20

I really like the fireworks, I would prefer if they went off throughout the evening rather than everyone doing it at the same time and I end up missing half of them.

AugustFalls · 31/12/2019 21:20

YANBU - people are going to let them off at 12 regardless (which I don’t mind on occasions like. NYE). There is no need for them to be taking place for hours beforehand.

1Morewineplease · 31/12/2019 21:21

I know I’ll get flamed, but fireworks, for domestic use, should be banned.

ItsNovemberNotChristmas · 31/12/2019 21:21

They should be completely banned, it's not just the effects on cats, dogs, horses etc, what about the wildlife?

viques · 31/12/2019 21:30

1morewine and itsnovember I agree with you wholeheartedly, I would love to see them banned too but given that we have them I really resent having to listen to them for hours just because other people are unreasonable, selfish and unconcerned for the environment, domestic pets and wildlife.

Yanbu. Antisocial nuisance.

IndianaMoleWoman · 31/12/2019 21:37

I love fireworks and my kids sleep through them but I can hear our neighbour’s poor dog howling in distress. I don’t remember them going off throughout the evening like this in any previous years, normally just midnight.

rottiemum88 · 31/12/2019 21:40

YANBU. Been trying to get DS to sleep since 18:30 (his normal bedtime) and he's still awake now thanks to all the sodding fireworks going off in every direction.

Secondary to that, I actually witnessed an accident at a firework display as a child where another young boy was hit by a rocket that came loose from its 'holder' and set his coat alight. His arm was badly burned. Godawful things IMO

Raffles1981 · 31/12/2019 21:44

I'm lucky, I live in a remote, Scottish village and most of us own cats and/or dogs so fireworks aren't part of the NYE party.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 31/12/2019 22:04

Our poor cat is so upset, and next door’s twin babies sound like they might scream their lungs up, the wee souls.

Mammabee20 · 31/12/2019 22:14

I get this post so much right now! They’ve been going off at random times for the last 3 hours!! I don’t mind 12pm as it is midnight so that is using the fireworks for a purpose but not randomly for every hour before that!

I do also think that they should not be used for domestic purposes in people’s back gardens etc! They feel and sound like they are going to come through the ceiling and my DD (14 months) is trying to sleep peacefully upstairs! I am 33 weeks pregnant and I am so tempted to go outside and tell the neighbours to pack it in but there are 3 different streets surrounding our house so I can’t locate exactly where they are coming from.

Lalalalalalalalaland · 31/12/2019 22:16

We have horses and would rather no home fireworks at all.

DDs pony spooked and bolted the other day due to shooting on a day they don't normally shoot so awaiting rhe yard managers text at 12.30ish to lwt us kmow our ponies are ok.

Lalalalalalalalaland · 31/12/2019 22:18

Sorry fat fingers and can not spell!

Between dogs, ponies and an autistic son random fireworks are our worst nightmare

bettybattenburg · 31/12/2019 22:18

Loads went off about 5pm here and thankfully nothing since, presumably for some children to watch.

Lalalalalalalalaland · 31/12/2019 22:22

My kids are happy with some nice quiet sparklers that don't send animals into flight mode

Knowhowufeel · 31/12/2019 22:31

Same here.

YADNBU.

They should be banned for home use as no one takes any notice of the existing rules anyway.

They've been going off since around 4-5pm today, as well as randomly all over the Christmas week.

One of our dogs is a nervous wreck and hasn't stopped shaking since they first went off.

He won't eat, drink (even though he's panting constantly) or go out to toilet, and he can't be sedated as often as they go off here, otherwise he'd be on them for several months every year!

Knowhowufeel · 31/12/2019 22:32

If not banned, then they should only be allowed to sell silent ones.

HighOnStilts · 31/12/2019 22:35

With you OP. I have a very unsettled Greyhound right now, I'm so pissed off. Got the TV turned up full but I'm 28 weeks pregnant and I want to go to bed! 😭

DecemberSnow · 31/12/2019 22:36

Fireworks are awful.

I dont care if kids "like them"

Think about the people that suffer with PTSD and animals...

Fireworks should be banned

Knowhowufeel · 31/12/2019 22:36

Once they've gone off one day, he'll then panic every night as soon as it gets dark as he anticipates them starting again. It takes a few days of silence before he relaxes again.

spingly · 31/12/2019 22:39

Sigh .... they're not banned they are legal and they can be let off at anytime!

I can only assume you're also whinging on my Facebook feed?

IgnoranceIsStrength · 31/12/2019 22:39

Agreed. 3 year old just been woken up by them and the dog is cowering under the kitchen table. Been going off since 6 here and obviously not letting up. Pissing me off
