AIBU to ask for suggestions for running leggings?

Sorry for putting this in AIBU but when I wanted advice for sports bras you all came through. I should also apologise for calling them running leggings but I can’t remember their proper name. I’ve got one pair and at the moment I’m using and washing but I need a new pair. Every pair I seem to get falls down when I’m running.

I would get a new pair from the site I bought the first pair but I don’t like any of their new styles!

My Tesco leggings have lasted years and (literally) over a thousand miles. They wash and tumble dry well with no loss of stretchy ness or sagging. They were a complete bargain - I’ve got some Capri length shorts from there which are equally good.

Zogtastic · 29/12/2019 13:22

What were the running bra recommendations? I love my sweaty Betty 7/8 length running tights but haven’t found a good bra yet!

rosy71 · 29/12/2019 13:24

I have some from Next which have been the best I've had.

EZA15 · 29/12/2019 13:24

confusedandemployed do you have a link to the website please? When I’ve googled it, they don’t seem to come up? I’m just working my way through everyone’s comments. Unfortunately, the sweaty Betty ones aren’t available in my size. I live near the Trafford Centre though and know that they have a shop there so will keep a look out

Ah just ignore my above comment, I was typing it in wrong 😂

I love the tikiboo leggings but I’m not confident enough to pull their designs off!

TALA are great. Really recommend any of their gym wear and if not only goes 4-20 but also has a tall option which is great for me!

Isithometimeyet0987 · 29/12/2019 15:13

Fabletics! I love them! Brilliant fit and I’m obsessed with the ones with pockets so handy for your phone. Or in my case the remote for the speaker in my studios for teaching I don’t have to keep running over to pause music mid dance.

ferretface · 29/12/2019 15:21

The fabletics ones with the pocket are handy, a much more reasonable price than the lululemon tight stuff ii tight which they're based on (the Lulu's are nicer but they are three times the price so they should be!)

GrumpyHoonMain · 29/12/2019 15:21

Adidas and US pro

EZA15 · 29/12/2019 20:48

Zogtastic they were the shock absorber ultimate run bra, the shock absorber ultimate fly bra and the panache ultimate sports bra. An online site called boobydoo was recommended but after some issues with Royal Mail (which the site dealt with really quickly) I ended up buying elsewhere

I love my gym shark ones they're very comfortable I've got 3 pairs.

EZA15 · 29/12/2019 20:50

isithometimeyet0987 I’ve always been tempted by them but put off by the whole subscription thing. I’ve heard that if you ‘opt out’ one month they still charge you. Have you had any issues with this?

OP posts:
EZA15 · 29/12/2019 20:51

Lyricallie I tried Gymshark but I had issues with them. I do like their recent stuff though so may end up trying them again!

ferretface sorry I didn’t see that you suggested Fabletics also. Have you had any issues with them taking money after you had opted out of the month?

I'm 5'1" and the sweaty betty 7/8 length are good on me, if not a little long.

RidgedPerfection · 29/12/2019 20:55

I like Inov8 and Mizuno, 2XU as well. All of those will stand up to races that can last 30 hours or so.

Wavingwhiledrowning · 29/12/2019 20:56

I got some Sugar Pocket ones from Amazon. Didn't budge at all, and the deep thigh pocket for my phone is brilliant. Great price, lots of designs and feel good quality too.

Timeandtune · 29/12/2019 20:57

Can I highly recommend Contra. It’s an ethical brand with all profits going to Park Run. I have their tights in black . They do lots of different sizes and have a sale on just now.

Muuuuuuuum · 29/12/2019 20:57

Ronhill are my favourites. Useful pocket at back for phone / keys, drawstring so never fall down and my 2 pairs have been going for years.

Also have some karrimor ones I bought from sports direct which are ok but much thinner than Ronhill.

Excited101 · 29/12/2019 21:00

Fabletics ones are so good! Cancel your VIP membership as soon as they arrive though, you have to let them chatter on at you for a bit before theylll do it but it’s worth it for the cheap price.

I’ve got some sweaty Betty ones too that I love, but I tried some plainer ones recently and they looked awful.

Tikiboos are cheap and cheerful, loads of fun.

I tried some Adidas ones and hated them! They just fell down.

Griefmonster · 29/12/2019 21:06

A PO said it but I think it depends on your shape. I definitely would NOT be spending the money on sweaty Betty and lululemon unless you have a tonne of spare cash. In my view you're better off spending the bigger part of your budget on trainers. Decathlon or tkmaxx offer a range of options for tights. I've also got a great pair of m&s outlet joggers that are the same material as running tights but a looser fit. Have a draw string and zip pockets and have turned my head away from tights. All my other running stuff is from TKmaxx, h&m and Matalan. I do 3x5km a week with once or twice a year 10k-20km trail race to give an idea of useage.

ferretface · 29/12/2019 23:10

@EZA15 you need to make sure you fully cancel the membership not just opt out for a month but it's not too difficult! I run quite a bit, 30 miles or so a week at the mo and I really like the fabletics ones - no annoying rolling down or up and very squat proof for other forms of exercise. They wash and wear well too. At a similar price I've had some luck with tk maxx etc as per @Griefmonster but I find it hard to know if they will stay up properly until I actually start running!

Runningonempty84 · 30/12/2019 08:54

Yy to not spending money on Sweaty Betty or Lululemon. Yes they're pretty, but all style and no substance IME.

There's a reason the "serious" runners are in Ronhill and Decathlon and - if they do splurge - splurge on Inov8 or Gore rather than Sweaty Betty.
