hi please excuse the grammar and punctuation etc. i am dyslexic..
anyway i am looking after my niece for 10 days and have asked my brother to send in food or money for food to feed her while he goes on holiday, he flies out today and he knows that i am totally skint, its just after xmas and i am a mother of 3 and my partner is incarcerated so i have been really really struggling to make ends meet and he is aware of this.. however he went ballisitic at me today for asking him to remember to leave stuff for dinners for his daughter as i am already having to make different dinners for us all as iv not enough in the cupboards fridge or freezer to make us all the same until i get my wages which is in a fortnights time.. he is going off his head at me and asking why i have left this to the last minute before mentioning anything to which my response was that it its his responsability to mention it not mines especially when he knows iv nothing and i honestly thought he would send stuff through for her as he knows the situation, and now he is sending me horrible texts making out that i ruin everything for him and saying that he has had to pay to get his car fixed and that he owes money out here and there etc, i dont want to ask my mum for help as she is nearly 60 and she has high blood preasure and she is going through a lot at the moment so i dont want her knowing how tough things are as i dont want her worrying about her adult kids .. he is now saying that im just trying to cause trouble the day he is due to leave and making out that im saying he is a bad dad etc because im saying he needs to leave stuff. which im not i just cant afford to feed her ... anyway he has now sent my niece round with a big bag of of food and i felt terrible when she gave me it. i feel really bad for asking am i being unreasonable?

MrsEnglishh you are so immature. Calling people twats who choose to do things differently to you really makes you the twat. I imagine you'd be quite a soffocating mother to be honest, probably end up guilt tripping your kids about how much you "sacrificed" for them. Oh and don't worry about never being seen on a hen do or girls weekend, I suspect you wouldn't get invited to any Grin

TheReluctantCountess · 28/12/2019 21:41

How old is your niece?

TheBigMansWife · 28/12/2019 21:56

@TheReluctantCountess she is 14

@MrsEnglishh

Yuck. Can't stand people who go on holiday without their children. Fucking weird.

I agree with @GreytExpectations, you are being extremely ignorant.

My mum went to see family abroad for 4 weeks sometimes when we were kids and we were perfectly fine. My sister was 10 years older and took care of us and my aunt who lived on the same road dropped in frequently.

We were smart enough to understand that there wasn’t enough money for us kids to go with mum.

All us siblings love mum to bits and see her every day. We’re on holiday with her now actually, now we have the money to go away as a family together.

Mrsenglishh- you should get a life you sound narrow minded and pathetic.

No, I think that makes me pretty normal, actually wink

No, you are actually far from normal. Look at the replies you have gotten, your ignorant mindset is clearly in the minority and your opinion is very unusual. But if you need to insult and belittle other adults who live their lives differently to yours to make yourself feel better than that's quite sad

slashlover · 29/12/2019 03:13

I'm narrow minded and pathetic because I'd rather take my children on holiday than go with someone else? No, I think that makes me pretty normal, actually

You're narrow minded because you think anyone who does things differently to you are "fucking weird", "selfish" and a "twat".

My parents used to go away without us occasionally, didn't upset us in the least. We would go to stay with my aunt and get spoiled rotten and played with our cousins. Sometimes my aunt and uncle would go and my cousins would stay with us, it was like an adventure. Sometimes we'd all go on holiday together.

ForkThis · 29/12/2019 04:38

I’ve been on holiday without my kids twice this year. Grin They stayed at home with their perfectly capable other parent and didn’t give two shits.

And I had a much better time than I would have if I’d taken them, as they would not have enjoyed the activities and more than likely whinged and wanted to sit in the hotel and watch tv.

We also had a family holiday this year and it sucked. We ended up going home early because they were so awful. They even refused to get out of the car at one of the destinations. Angry

Fuck taking them on holiday ever again. I’ll go by myself or with the “girlzzzzz” and have a great time thanks!

So you can shove your judgement up your ass!

You are now trying way too hard to have a wind up Hmm

Marriedwithchildren5 · 29/12/2019 10:11

I wouldnt want to be in another country away from my children. But I'm always happy to go for a girlzz weekend Grin

I'm suprised if people think it's so acceptable and the norm to leave their kids and go on holiday why did mrs English not just get an eye roll and ignored? Posters do come across as being defensive.

MrsEnglishh · 29/12/2019 10:18

I have no idea why I was deleted. I didn't say anything offensive. Unlike some of the other people on this thread Smile

GreytExpectations · 29/12/2019 10:33

MrsEnglishh it's the motives behind your posts that will cause the deletion.

Maybe it was because she started by calling anyone who goes on holiday without their kids "fucking weird" "twats" and "selfish" and then implied that they must be feeling guilty about it? People tend to react badly to insults like that, specially when they are uncalled for.

Nicknacky · 29/12/2019 10:42

I went to Italy this year for a week without my kids, and took one on another holiday I went to and left my youngest at home with her dad. I’m not a twat or selfish and my kids also think I’m brilliant.

Cacklingmags · 29/12/2019 10:42

Brother is a shit dad. Should not be holidaying without his child when money is so tight.

MrsEnglishh · 29/12/2019 10:43

My... motives? I'm someone who takes my children with me if I go on holiday, not a serial killer Grin I do think it's fucking weird. That's not against the talk guidelines.

Nicknacky · 29/12/2019 10:44

It’s not “fucking weird” at all.

Not the point I was making at all, but I suspect you know that.

Maybe because you call people who have a different view twats? Just a theory Hmm

Tumbleweed101 · 29/12/2019 12:34

I went to Canada for three weeks alone without my children. A very special trip to see friends I’d not had a chance to see in over ten years. I would never be able to afford to take us all as much as I’d have liked to.

Children were fine with their Dad and appreciated me more when I got home (for a couple days at least 🤣).

GreytExpectations · 29/12/2019 13:27

I think people need to realise that as much as children do change your life, it does not mean you are forever having to have them in tow for 18 years. Don't let arseholes like @MrsEnglishh make you feel guilty for enjoying your life the way you feel suits you. That poster probably has nothing else in their life other than their kids to enioy.
