I know it’s the time to relax and watch TV but can’t believe how DH and his family just go from film to film to film. DH will happily watch a random film from the half way point. He also loves subtitles! I’ve really noticed it this Christmas. I dint mind settling down for a good film but my attention span can only cope with one.Yet I’m the odd one out so nobody to play a game with etc. Anyone else like me?!

I haven't watched any films. I've watched loads of YouTube.

Tillygetsit · 27/12/2019 22:41

I love it when they all watch a film. I can have a nap without looking rude Grin

morgankitten

Bet you do...

I ceased to be amazed after about a year of marriage. The endless hours of shit (including repeats of the same movies) that my STBEH could watch would stun most people.

MitziK · 27/12/2019 22:56

I hate games.

I like movies. Partly because they make it impossible to play games.

As long as everybody is silent through them, at any rate.

Why? Foreign films aren’t automatically more interesting than English language films?

Surely it's obvious that a foreign language film is going to be several times better than the average English film? Otherwise people wouldn't make the considerable extra effort it takes to watch them.

Me and my partner prefer watching films to watching tv programmes so we watch at least 3 or 4 a week on a normal week. We watched 4 films yesterday, first day on our own with our dd and no other family. Started with the cocoon, then sister act 1, sister act 2, and finished with the new Zombieland film in the evening after she had gone to bed. Played with dd, and ate etc in between the films. loved it, proper lazy day

MsMellivora · 28/12/2019 10:28

We have watched three films this week

Finding Dory, Tremors and Amelie, that last one has subtitles op!

We have payed Articulate, Monopoly, Yahtzee and Charades. There has been some separate pottering about in rooms and I have napped a little most days and MIL had the odd nap. MIL and DH spent time chopping up wood in the garden and DS and I went out shopping one day, I think we got the balance right this year, for us anyway.

Fraggling · 28/12/2019 10:32

Well there's lots of them and there's one of you do I get it's annoying you can't have what you want, but the majority are happy. Which is good, surely.

Fraggling · 28/12/2019 10:33

I mean lots of people find board games shit, had you considered that?

iklboo · 28/12/2019 10:34

DH will put films on from part way through that we've not only seen loads of times but own on DVD. It's infuriating.

ButterflyBook · 28/12/2019 10:43

I never watch films. No point. Somebody always requires my attention.

MrsGrindah · 28/12/2019 21:47

I never said I wanted to play board games @Fraggling I just hate the lack of engagement for hours on end.

I still don’t follow the logic that a subtitled film is likely to be better
