Getting sick of investing in threads

I don't know if it's the time of year but there's been an influx of threads removed. More than I can remember.

I wish there was an emblem next to OP name saying if they're a new poster then I might not care. I have always tried to empathise but am starting to doubt a lot in advance.

OP posts:

@incog

I know what you mean. I get very invested in some threads. I so want everything to work out for the OP.

Maybe I'm just a saddo? Hmm

beautifulstranger101 · 27/12/2019 15:52

I get you.

What bemuses me is when someone posts an AIBU? assuming that everyone is going to agree that they are the innocent victim in the situation. When actually, what happens is everyone agrees they are being totally unreasonable. Then they post a "boo hoo! why are you all being so mean to me?" comment, dont take on any of the suggestions or helpful advice, then they just disappear.
Why bother to ask "am i being unreasonable" if you can't bear to hear that you are? So stupid.

BlaueLagune · 27/12/2019 16:08

I'm not sure I invest in threads (well I suppose I do eg the lunch one where the OP had the discount card and the colleague let her order lunch and never paid for it) but it does annoy me when I click into a thread and it's been deleted "while MN checks behind the scenes", whatever that means. Other than check the IP address not sure what they can do?

Unless something is really offensive, why can't it stay? Even if it's not true, they're often entertaining!

JoanBonJovi · 28/12/2019 03:26

Agree ! What happens behind the scenes?!

foxinthegarden1 · 28/12/2019 03:35

Yes I know what you mean OP.

I've always wondered what happened to the post about the mum who received a text from a friend, then was ditched by all her mum friends as they thought she was having an affair with the woman husband. Was that deleted?! I'm pretty new here so not troll savvy at all.

KatherineJaneway · 28/12/2019 04:19

Mn confirmed genuine?

Yes, jewellery one was genuine apparently. I assumed it was a troll due to Love Actually.

OhDearMe2019 · 28/12/2019 06:13

Totally get what you mean, OP. I really hoped for a good outcome for the poster whose dad let it slip that her boyfriend was getting her rugby tickets (she hates rugby) for Christmas (and he also hadn't done one night up with their 2 year old). Day after Christmas, thread pulled!

Nanna50 · 28/12/2019 06:18

totally agree @BentNeckLady

BIWI · 28/12/2019 08:24

@OhDearMe2019 the outcome of that story was a happy one (assuming it was genuine, of course!). Turned out it was tickets for a holiday. The husband had told the father it was a rugby game because he knew the father wouldn't be able to keep a secret!

CharlotteMD · 28/12/2019 10:01

I would take any comment or advice given on any internet forum with a large dose of salt because , quite frankly , a lot of it is total bollocks.

OhDearMe2019 · 28/12/2019 17:09

@BIWI - thanks for that! It's like reading a story with the ending torn out otherwise. Someone in the family must have found out about the MN thread, hence the pull I'm guessing.
