To claim against this man?

😩😭 Christmas Eve we were driving to mums and we stopped to get a McDonald’s Husband was inside ordering, I let both dogs out for a pee and as I walking in the car park someone reversed out of a space at speed so I jumped onto the grass slipped and landed with my left leg underneath me and I was sat on my knee, it definitely dislocated and I felt a snapping, it’s so tight and swollen.

It's got stiffer and stiffer over the 3 days, I can't put my foot on the floor fully as my calc is too tight, my back and upper side hurts because I'm walking like a weirdo.. everything hurts!

I should have gone to A&E but I really didn't want to, however now I regret it! I shouted at him from the floor covered in mud and god knows what, and he said 'sorry I thought it was in drive not reverse'

Is it his insurance or mine I claim on? Because I am hurt.

Also.. what the hell do I do with this leg? It's fucking useless! I can't bend it, I can't put my full weight on it, I can't straighten it fully, it's huge, I have tingly sensations on the opposite side to the swelling all the way down to my ankle, I have to walk upstairs with it kind of off the side and when I'm up and walking through the pain if I move in a funny way or try remotely to do anything exciting like a small bit of pivoting it feels like it's going to give way so I nearly fall over and jerk wildly grabbing at furniture.

It took me over an hour on Christmas Eve to get off the floor Blush

@LaMarschallin

What she said. It IS odd. And it DOESNT add up. It seems so extreme to me that the OP is suggesting this thread is going to be deleted as it's somehow evidence in some important police matter. If that is the case, do I think that's a decent use of police resources? I just can't say that it is. And I don't think someone mistakenly going into the wrong gear resulting in a minor injury really requires police input.

I'm willing to be told I'm being unreasonable, but it seems so OTT to me!!

RufusthebewiIderedreindeer · 28/12/2019 14:05

I dont get the police matter thread deletion bit

Especially as it hasnt been deleted...which suggests no police involvement (not that i can see why they would have been involved in the first place)

NewName73 · 28/12/2019 14:31

Are all the deleted messages Troll hunters?

Or just abusive ...?

Well, only the people who read them or posted them will know.

As I've said, I'm trying to take OP at face value and I feel bad about taking the piss in some of my posts. I wouldn't have posted if I'd known about the circumstances, but none of us can read minds. It would be horrible to come down hard on someone who's vulnerable due a huge loss and difficulties with a sibling with special needs.

I suppose what I'm trying to avoid saying (and now failing Smile) is that it also wouldn't be nice to post something, decide you don't like the responses, then return and guilt-trip people with a very sad story.

NewName73 · 28/12/2019 15:39

Well I'm hoping the people who posted or read them will be able to answer my question!

Righto.
Sorry I was of no help.

Finfintytint · 28/12/2019 16:09

I reported a post that was deleted because it was a cruel personal attack on the op.

@NewName73 I was deleted for troll hunting.

@itswinetime - Just to clarify re the McDonald's coffee lawsuit

Who could have possibly thought that putting a McDonalds coffee cup between your legs in the car and then trying pull the lid open could be dangerous!! Hmm Hmm Those "coffee - hot" signs are definitely going to help

steff13 · 28/12/2019 18:31

I agree that it's unwise to put coffee between your legs. However, I think the issue was that the coffee was excessively hot - 180°-190° which caused 3rd degree burns in less than 7 seconds. It's a hazard at that temperature and McDonald's admitted as much.

NewName73 · 28/12/2019 18:34

Thank you Elusive and Finty ... just curious, as I can't make up my mind about the OP...

I'm guessing must be genuine as others have had their posts deleted --- but there is no sign of this one going , and if it does we won't know if its "for police matters" or trolling ...

user1471449295 · 28/12/2019 18:40

Go to a&e as pp have said. Did he hit you? It sounds like you jumped and slipped

pinyinchahua · 28/12/2019 18:44

But am I alone in thinking it's odd?

Nope. As someone who has a shoulder that spontaneously dislocates of it's own free will (after being hit by a car, funnily enough - never dealt with by police despite them seeing the accident), I was concerned about the fact that the OP didn't get herself sorted right away and seemed more concerned about compensation. The pain when dislocating a joint is incredible - I can't function until it's popped back in, let alone be mobile for three days. Having seen a colleague pop their shoulder in a work accident, it seems like that's the usual state as he was vomiting from the pain.

And the final OP post - feels a tiny bit sob story-ish. I'm sure it's not but not really seeing it's relevance, despite the emotional weight. Again, taking poster at face value but it just feels... awkward.

ProfessionalBoss · 28/12/2019 19:05

Of all the questionable "statements" by the op,

Mumsnet have agreed to take this thread down as it is now a police matter.

This is by far the biggest lot of nonsense! There have been NO identifying markers, we don't know any names, places, car models etc etc... Plus it was on private land (a car park) and the driver did NOT hit her with hhs car, so he would have had absolutely NO reason to approach the police himself...

I can't keep up with the OP's lies, so I've no doubt missed some great ones out...

But even if we are to believe her, what exactly are we supposed to believe the driver is being charged with? (Especially as NO crime has been committed) and which would demand no details on social media, incase it prejudices a JURY!!!

Scarsthelot · 28/12/2019 19:56

Its more odd that in the middle of all this OP seemed to diagnose her dog, that wouldnt settle, as having dementia and contemplating having him out down upon her return.

Not surprised a dog wouldnt settle with all this going on. Harsh to put him down.

I cant help wonder if OP is prone to jumping to worse case scenarios and then just keeps posting shit to back up her over reaction.

I do hope she is genuine though, given she has sought support for a cancer diagnosis and recurrent miscarriages. That's just sick, of it's all nor true.

Slightaggrandising · 28/12/2019 20:00

Slight derail... I was handed a cup of coffee once that was so hot, it caused the lid to melt inside it and spill on my hand giving me blisters that needed dressing by a nurse for about a month. I didn't make a claim but that temperature was unreasonable, it melted the lid FFS! That was negligent by the retailer.

Finfintytint · 28/12/2019 20:12

I think the op is going through a very tough time for all sorts of reasons. I think we should cut her some slack and let her vent.

It's a legal requirement that an accident involving a motor vehicle in which an injury is caused, should be reported to the police.

TeaForTara · 28/12/2019 23:56

But the injury wasn't caused by the motor vehicle, was it?

A) why are you claiming for anything? B) go to minor injuries

Equanimitas · 29/12/2019 02:23

But the injury wasn't caused by the motor vehicle, was it?

Yes, it was. OP wouldn't have fallen but for the fact that the car was approaching her at speed and she had to take evasive action.

Equanimitas · 29/12/2019 02:25

@user1494182820, why would OP go to minor injuries for already diagnosed torn cruciate ligament and meniscus?

Fairly obviously, she'd be claiming damages for negligent driving which has caused her serious injuries.

drinkygin · 29/12/2019 03:27

He didn’t hit you 😡 were very fortunate to have free healthcare in the UK, get yourself checked over for gods sake. What on earth are you trying to claim for?!
