Come marvel at my DH and his amazing Christmas Day ineptitude!

Firstly, he had a mug of coffee on the bedside table as he was hopping about trying to put his jeans on and somehow managed to put his foot in the coffee mug. To make matters worse, it was DDs mug, not even his, and she and all the other DC witnessed this. She has asked him to buy her a new one as she can never use this one again Xmas Grin

Secondly, he had kindly wrapped up a Christmas present for me and brought it down to the lounge and put it in his lap while everyone opened stockings/presents etc. After this interlude, he saw this present in his lap again and opened it thinking it was something for him (after all at least ten minutes had elapsed since he put it there himself Xmas Hmm) He was confused for a moment as to who had given him small fluffy pink slippers before the realisation dawned he had in fact just unwrapped the present that he himself had carefully wrapped up for me Xmas ConfusedXmas Grin

I'm now anticipating everyone telling me to leave this ineffectual man child Winkso may I just say this is fucking lighthearted and it made us laugh all day. I've probably made it sound actually not that funny Blush but if I tell you even the teenagers laughed, you may understand the level of hilarity Xmas Smile

It's the little things...

Hmmmmm, sounds like my DH is leading a double life......Xmas Grin

Knittedfairies · 26/12/2019 14:55

He made teenagers laugh. A legend...

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 26/12/2019 14:55

Actually to be fair to him, he was bloody marvellous yesterday (I’m ill), it’s just every other day of the year he does stuff like that! (Also lighthearted Grin). Hope you’re enjoying Boxing Day!!!

KingOfIneptitude · 26/12/2019 15:02

Oooh Judas we may well be sharing an inept bigamist, as mine has been looking after me too.

I'm currently lying in bed watching TV and waiting for my turkey sandwich that DH is carefully constructing for me in the kitchen. I hope he doesn't go near any sharp knives...

(Seriously, he is lovely though)

KingOfIneptitude · 26/12/2019 15:02

(I do get the feeling the teens were laughing at him rather than with him, but we will take what we can get Xmas Smile)

He put his foot IN a mug that was on his bedside table? That's incredibly athletic for Christmas time, I've barely moved off the sofa 🤣

halocompanach · 26/12/2019 15:13

Making teens laugh? That deserves a New Year Honours for services to miracles (other unlikely happenings are available)

Deathraystare · 26/12/2019 15:31

Get him some pink fluffy slippers next year to really confuse him!!!

T0tallyFuckedUpFamily · 26/12/2019 15:33

but if I tell you even the teenagers laughed, you may understand the level of hilarity

That alone is a good enough reason to stay with him. 😁

Cherrysoup · 26/12/2019 15:41

Opened the present he’d wrapped for you?! Superb! 😆

KingOfIneptitude · 26/12/2019 15:42

To be fair, DH is very very tall and the bedside tables are low down Grin I don't think he could ever replicate it though.

I once bought him a fabulous double walled glass mug for his birthday (he likes his coffee!) and the very first time he used it, he dropped it and broke it

Even if I stand on my step stool in the kitchen to get things down, I'm not as tall as him Grin so in fairness, he must find it hard to control his long flailing limbs...

(I do adore him really, the turkey sandwich was amazing!)

KingOfIneptitude · 26/12/2019 15:47

Oh yes, and he had literally just wrapped said present immediately before bringing it down Hmm It wasn't like he had wrapped it ages ago and had forgotten what it looked like! The paper had gingerbread men on, so quite distinctive too Grin

Never ever LTB @KingOfIneptitude 😍😁

Sssneks · 26/12/2019 16:03

You guys sound adorable. That's what Christmas is all about, having fun and making memories together. I'm sure the fluffy slippers mix up will go down in your family history. :)

Featherweight · 26/12/2019 16:08

I sympathise with your DH OP. This kind of life-inadaquacy affects me on a daily basis. I'm known affectionately exasperatingly in my household as 'The Boob' and whenever I fail miserably at simple tasks I'm reminded of what a pain in the arse i am with a chorus of "FFS, The Boob strikes again!"

My birthday was yesterday and DP's niece is today...he wrote both cards...imagine my delight yesterday when I opened a card that had the caption "happy birthday to a wonderful Niece" and a whopping big number 3 on it. I'd understand but the envelope with mine was red and hers was pink!

Madcats · 26/12/2019 16:34

King, I hope you feel better soon.

I am still struggling to understand how a lanky man (hope that description isn't too rude), wrestling into jeans, can get his foot stuck in a mug on a low bedside table.

Are you up to drawing a cartoon strip for us? (Sorry, but DH was left unsupervised for too long and has settled into watching a 1965 war film which is obviously fascinating for the rest of us).

KingOfIneptitude · 26/12/2019 17:09

For your delight I have recreated the moment using my artistic skills on my iPhone (embarrassingly DH is actually an artist so could do a much better representation, he clearly just can't dress himself or give presents competently Wink)

Is he levitating too? Impressive.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 26/12/2019 17:24

My DH was carrying one sock around the house earlier, looking increasingly frantic. I asked him what was wrong, and he said "I can't find my other sock and I need to go and fill the car up with fuel before the garage closes". When I pointed out that he was, in fact, WEARING the other SOCK (!) HE at least had the decency to look sheepish while I laughed at him

KingOfIneptitude · 26/12/2019 17:27

I'm enjoying hearing about other people's inadequacies Wink although I just realised I have lost any moral high ground about smugly not being inept, with that drawing Blush

FeigningHorror · 26/12/2019 17:28

I have probably done equally demented things when very stressed and distracted. The one I will never forget is that I was thinking hard about something else, and put a jug of milk on the ground outside the back door of my parents' house, and it was only when I then tried to put their alarmed cat into the fridge door that I clocked something was up. Blush

InfiniteSheldon · 26/12/2019 17:36

My dh bought 'us' an Alexa which didn't work so he boxed it up to return as per Amazon instructions and left it in the hall two weeks ago. On Christmas morning gave me a loving wrapped box saying no idea what this one is I found it in the hall in an Amazon box but can't remember what I ordered for you .....
