To ask what gifts you didn’t like?

I’m not saying this to be ungrateful, but sometimes I do wonder what goes through my relatives’ heads at Christmas anyone else? We received:

A tin of peaches for my 12 year old
Clothes that are 5 sizes too big for my 15 year old
Alcohol for me, when I’ve made it very clear that I don’t drink and haven’t for 20 years
A window vacuum
A box of drawing pins

What strange gifts did your family get?

I bought myself a bath set that was on sale last week and couldn't find it anywhere. I even began doubting I ever bought it.

Turns out dh had wrapped it up left it under the tree then given it back to me yesterday! I was so annoyed.

The usual bayliss and Harding's set which I dislike. I've tried telling them in previous years that I'm allergic but still get the same one every year.

Candles. I do not like candles. Single mum, I’m always tired and regularly fall asleep on the sofa. I cannot risk having lit candles. I spent five years trying to make my ex understand I did not want them.

This year ds 11 bought me - a collection of candles. And he’ll notice if I throw them away.

For God’s sake, they are dangerous, completely unnecessary and the rain forest gets ripped up to produce the flippin’ things. I wish they were banned.

A key ring with a furry Pom Pom on it, it just screamed of “that’ll do” and went straight in the charity shop bag.

Nothing was bad, I had some shoes picked out which I loved in the shop that now won't fit my fat feet.

No weird presents but we received so much food! Boxes upon boxes of chocolates, biscuits, bottles of wine/Prosecco etc. Looking at it all piled up in the kitchen is making me feel sick! Most will end up being taken to the food bank or DH will take into work when he goes back

I got lovely things from my parents which my mum obviously bought truffles, big mug with a springer spaniel on it (just got a puppy and looks just like her) truffles, Molton Brown my fave the eucalyptus one. and big black furry winter boots ugg style which are soooo cosy. Very grateful.

I'm a SP and never got anything from my ex.

DM bought me a contouring kit. I don't wear make up, even when I did wear it I have never in my life contoured anything.
I can't decide if it's better or worse than the usual cheap eyeshadow palette the size of a coffee table, containing 560 colours.

However, I did love the rest of my gifts so I am more than happy

My DH mixed up SIL and FILs gifts one year when wrapping. Bald FIL opened hair straighteners around the same moment SIL was opening a beard trimmer

Full high leg knickers.. 5 sizes too big.. cheetah print.. from dgmil. And a bottle of wine, we’re teetotal and I’m heavily pregnant.. maybe the wines to recover from the knickers.. they’re wider than my shoulders.

I had a moment of “did they fall in the bag?” As my other gift was me to an absolute tee

My worst ever gift was for my 16th birthday - my auntie got me a pleated, knee length floral skirt from M&S, more suitable for my granny than me.

When I took it to the shop to see about swapping it, turns out it was in the sale for £5! Felt so special

I always buy vouchers for Morrisons & Greggs and pop them in with my student DDs presents; she loves them 😁

Mil tries her best but always gets it so wrong. This year the beautiful kimono I received turned out to be mislabelled and actual for sil. Instead I had a thin black robe that's too big. Also got some toiletries I'm allergic too and a towel turban for drying hair (donated the precious hair towel turban earlier this month)

Bil bought a candle, just had a clear out of them now that we have kids as worried I'll forget to put them out 🙈

It was bought as an in joke.. 😂 I'm going to put a plant in it so it has crazy hair... or flowers??

My 13 year old's best friend bought me a big box of Milk Tray. I was so touched - she's a lovely girl and I think the world of her and she bought them with her own money.

However, I'm vegan 😂

She was mortified when she remembered!
