I have NC’d for this... thought it would be funny off the back of the “what class are you thread?”

Have you ever calculated your net worth?
How much is cash?

Having a quick think between properties and savings we are at about 650k ...55k is cash savings, another 50k is shares and investments

Skint at Christmas? Scroll on by.

As thread titles go, it’s pretty unambiguous what the content will be 🤷‍♀️

LilyPinkNoah · 24/12/2019 23:19

Your post OP made me think of all the arrogant rich people I know - and how it infuriates me that you think you're all caring - you think you give a shit but you don't - you sit there on Xmas Eve calculating your net worth to then boast about it on a public forum! Seriously get a life - there is so much more to life.

I can't be doing with this...

tunnocksreturns2019 · 24/12/2019 23:23

Financially I’m doing fine, but that’s largely because my DH is dead.

Weirdly I’m spending my Christmas thinking about my DCs and missing my DH, not counting my savings.

Daffodil101 · 24/12/2019 23:24

1.7 million in main property (roughly) plus 1m pension pot, 90k readies in the bank, £670k is in investments, then a holiday house in Cornwall at about £900k.

Happy now?!

Verily1 · 24/12/2019 23:26

C £25k

Don’t know how to work out my pension but would get c £120k payout if I died tomorrow.

How trite Biscuit

shiningstar2 · 24/12/2019 23:38

I am not surprised you name changed for this thread op. Surely you must be aware of how crass it is to discuss your wealth at any time ...but on Christmas Eve ...with so many struggling to give their kids a decent Christmas? Sadly you seem to know the cost of everything and the value of nothing. Never the less Merry Christmas to you and yours Xmas Smile

catsmother · 24/12/2019 23:42

It's not fun to think about my financial position. In fact I literally feel physically sick with anxiety and fear (of the future) when I do. Unfortunately, 'when' is almost every day, every night .... it prevents me from going to sleep and if I do drop off, I frequently wake up with the same sickening thoughts preventing me from getting back to sleep. Repeat ad infinitum.

And you know what, compared to many many others I readily admit my position isn't as bad as theirs. If I'm affected so badly, then god only knows how their mental health is suffering. The relentless stress doesn't bear thinking about.

So yeah .... it's an anonymous forum. So bloody what. Doesn't alter the potential effect of a thread like this upon people whose every waking hour is, by necessity, consumed by thoughts of trying to make ends meet. And often failing. It's actually plain mean spirited and an opportunity for crass boasting by anyone without emotional intelligence or plain old fashioned good manners. Casually reeling off figures equivalent to a lottery win for many is no less galling because you can't be identified. It's the concept, not who you are that's objectionable. And at an emotive time of year when it's impossible to escape from the constant Christmas pressure, expectation, advertising, consumerism etc. - meaning that if you're struggling it can be hellish - suggesting that it'd be 'fun' to tot up your ££££s is in very poor taste.

Like ..... of all the topics to start a thread on, this was the best you could do FFS ?!?!!

bobbiester · 24/12/2019 23:45

"Net worth" is an awful term. People use it to refer to what they OWN.

I know people who own nothing who are WORTH a lot more than most "high net worth" individuals.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 24/12/2019 23:51

My net worth is zero. Not a homeowner.

naughty40me · 24/12/2019 23:52

Low income, no savings, debts, no pension. Rented house that is falling to bits.

But my kids will get a big pay out when I die.

Life insurance. I'm worth more dead than alive. Ho ho ho WineGrin

Cherrysoup · 24/12/2019 23:53

We do a monthly spreadsheet so we have a very exact idea of what we have and what goes out every month. We are lucky enough not to worry about unexpected bills.

KidLorneRoll · 25/12/2019 00:27

Well this is a really cunty thread.

"Hey poor people, come and feel shit about yourselves on Christmas! Look at how much money I have! I give fuck all of it to charity but this expensive wine sure is nice".

Wankers.

40somethingJBJ · 25/12/2019 01:07

About £200k. £199k of that is the house, so not very cash rich at all.

anxioussue · 25/12/2019 01:18

I know people who own nothing who are WORTH a lot more than most "high net worth" individuals.

Others of us..me..have no net worth and no social worth.

BettyJean · 27/12/2019 00:08

@speakout

Not sure I can give you any advice, just a personal preference.

I’ve eaten it by itself since I was a child. Don’t like the fruitcake it tends to go on top of though.

lakersgirl · 16/01/2020 11:57

same here we are still young and our net worth is kind of small(around 150K) so we need to work like really hard. we are still renting and I moved to the states only a few years back so no tudent loans on my head but damn

MrOnionsBumperRoller · 16/01/2020 12:12

I have £26k worth of tattoos on my body, so I'm guessing I'm worth more than you OP? Grin

landy5277 · 23/01/2020 11:53

Yeah I am going to agree that the net worth a particular person is different in each case. I studied abroad and don't have a lot of loans since the studying over there is fairly cheap (thank god I am bilingual). I still don't know my personal net worth because I just came home and still am in the transition from another continent so it is a constant wonder.

Thestrangestthing · 23/01/2020 12:01

Too much to possibly sit here and count up.

seb345 · 23/01/2020 12:19

me and my wife are firmly in the $450K area at the moment. We do live in the states though so it's a little different. I feel like that we have here is easier to achieve since the salary here is larger and we don't have student loans we have to pay up. The housing market was fairly cheap and it is a big plus for us. We recently looked into ways to calculate net worth because it's an interesting idea for us.We both work high-end jobs so it was important to know just how much do we actually own. It's a good baseline for future investment in my opinion

listsandbudgets · 23/01/2020 12:42

Dont like these sort of threads. It really rubs ot in for those who are struggling

However since you ask OP, We have enough to live on and enough to fall back on for a while if we need to so we are very fortunate and we know it.
