Would you be annoyed if your DP/DH had been out for this long

Been out since half 12 today.

Would you be annoyed or am I being stupid?

DragonMamma · 21/12/2019 22:18

I’d definitely not be annoyed. It’s Christmas!

Unless it’s happening every weekend or there’s something else you’re not telling us then just chill out and let him enjoy his self.

GhostHoward · 21/12/2019 22:19

What have they been out for? Did you know it would be an afternoon and evening thing?

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 22:19

@DragonMamma He was out last weekend also for this long.

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 22:20

@GhostHoward He said he wasn't planning on staying out all day AND night. He's absolutely terrible at handling his drink and I know he's going to be a state and it'll be me dealing with the baby all day tomorrow whilst he's in bed hungover.

He also knows we have to do the Xmas food shop and finish getting off gifts tomorrow.

If it isn’t a weekly occurrence, then no. I went out yesterday at lunchtime and didn’t roll in until gone 1am, steaming drunk, and I’d have been really pissed off if DH took umbrage at that, given I rarely go out properly anymore.

PurpleDaisies · 21/12/2019 22:21

Not if I was expecting him to be out that long. If he was due back at 6pm, I’d be annoyed (unless he’d let me know).

recklessruby · 21/12/2019 22:22

Well I know its Christmas and all that but yanbu if he s going to come home in a drunken state and be useless.
When do you get 12 hours free time to do as you like?

@recklessruby Never! Lucky if I get one.

Ohyesiam · 21/12/2019 22:24

Out of be fine with, coming home pissed up and being incapable tomorrow, I’d be seriously unimpressed

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 22:25

@Ohyesiam This happens every time he goes out, disappears for hours and hours on end and is a total nob when he comes in throwing up and disturbing me.

OP posts:
Thestrangestthing · 21/12/2019 22:25

If this was the second week running, I would be pissed off.

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 21/12/2019 22:27

I wouldn't mind. DH does this occasionally. I don't usually stay out that late because I have a DC who wakes me up at 5. Before you say DH could deal with him, he's usually already up, but he goes to work long before the DC have to leave for school. Also, the WiFi's in our room.

recklessruby · 21/12/2019 22:29

@ccx1I have been there. Its no fun. Can you talk to him when he s sober about how shit it is? Also not fair when you have a baby.

PhilomenaChristmasPie · 21/12/2019 22:29

Actually, not the throwing up and disturbing me.

Ohyesiam · 21/12/2019 22:30
Flowers I couldn’t have that in my life. He’s a father now, his priorities need to change for the next few years
DragonMamma · 21/12/2019 22:30

I had two weekends out on the trot recently - only because it’s Christmas. I’d be more than happy for DH to do the same. But if he’s completely out of action tomorrow then I wouldn’t be terribly impressed. I function incredibly well with a hangover (better in some ways - I always clean furiously) so it doesn’t impact on the family too much.

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 22:31

@recklessruby Have tried previously and it doesn't end well. He says that I always moan at him when I go out and he's controlling. The problem is not the going out, it's the disappearing for hours on end, spending a fuckton of money we don't have and not knowing his own limits to the point where he drinks himself into a stupor.

OP posts:
AnchorDownDeepBreath · 21/12/2019 22:31

How often does this usually happen? Is it typically quite rare but more frequent because he's been out with friends the past two weeks, or is this a pretty common occurrence?

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 22:32

@AnchorDownDeepBreath A good few times a year. He doesn't go out often but when he does he takes the piss and always pushes my buttons!

OoohTheStatsDontLie · 21/12/2019 22:34

Someone going out a long time- wouldnt annoy me at all. My husband works a distance away so had to stay over for his xmas party so was out a long time which was fine.

Someone being sick in the toilet I wouldnt mind if it was occasional.

Someone throwing up everywhere and weekend plans ruined - i would be mad especially if its every time he goes out. Everyone has one too many and regrets it sometimes, but if you know you are going to be vomiting and changing whatever plans you've got with your family the next day then you should either not go out, or give out when you've got nothing at all planned.

As it happened my husband was hungover the day after his party leaving me to look after an ill toddler and a very bored older child, and I was pissed off as I hadn't been feeling great myself and he had said he would be back early ish to relieve me, so I'd promised the older child I'd go out with them. However he wasn't sick / pissing anywhere / doing anything else awful he just came back and went to bed and apologised when he finally emerged. And I just let it go because it us very rare (so rare I cant actually remember the last time) and I have done it myself in the past, more often than him. In your shoes I'd be annoyed though

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 22:36

He knows what he's like when he's had a drink, he's an absolutely nightmare to deal with the day after and he knows he can't handle the hangover.

Still, doesn't stop him though Angry

Rosebel · 21/12/2019 22:36

My husband has seriously pissed me off tonight doing this. Went out with his mates at 1. Said he'd be back around 7 and he's still not back now so his dinner is in the bin.
So I don't think YBU at all. We've got hardly any money until Monday when we get paid so also annoyed he's wasting what we have got and he'll be hungover tomorrow.
Sorry that turned in to a rant but I totally understand why your annoyed.

ccx1 · 21/12/2019 22:37

@Rosebel Thanks sending you hugs! It's shit isn't it.

OP posts:
CourtneyB123 · 21/12/2019 22:39

I could write this myself! My partner has been out since 12 today still no sign, no contact and I will also be dealing with the disturbance and dealing with the baby on my own tomorrow. Sending hugs I can totally sympathise
