To think the Beckhams are right not to invite...

...David’s father’s new partner’s daughter to Cruz and Harper’s christening?

Even typing that out was convoluted!

What adult child on earth would expect to be invited to an event of their mother’s new partner’s (of less than a year) son and more importantly, if said son wasn’t David Beckham, who would even want to go?!

It’s all rather shameless and doesn’t bode well for the relationship.

mothers new partner?

AlorMy · 21/12/2019 10:20

Yes, David’s father has a new girlfriend of less than a year. Her adult daughter wanted to go to the christening but was apparently “snubbed”.

Do you realise that his new partner and her family are millionaires and already mix with politicians/royalty (via charity work) etc?

Have you got a link?

OnlyFoolsnMothers · 21/12/2019 10:25

I’m with you OP- I bet the daughter wants a snoop (I would). Seems strange she would expect to be invited too

Ellisandra · 21/12/2019 10:26

Did this actually happen (her feeling snubbed) or is it totally made up trashy ‘news’ that you’ve been reading?

misspiggy19 · 21/12/2019 10:27

I agree with you OP. I wouldn’t have invited adult daughter either.

Samcro · 21/12/2019 10:29

i still wonder why they are having a christening.

Penguinshame · 21/12/2019 10:30

Harper and Cruz are being baptised? Have the Beckhams had a religious moment?

Havaina · 21/12/2019 10:31

Has the daughter even said she expected to be invited?

Not sure OP why you feel you are in a position to say that they were right? Do you know the family and the new partner's daughter?

ManonBlackbeak · 21/12/2019 10:31

Cruz must be in his teens by now, they’ve left it late for them to be christened haven’t they?

theLadyofShallnot · 21/12/2019 10:34

If she or a friend ahem is gobbing off about being snubbed after such a short time of being in that circle, then they have absolutely made the right decision.

Fame hungry or desperate or both. Would they make so much fuss if they were just Davy and Vicky from down the street? No.

Chuck Beckham and Elton etc into the mix and the need to attend is a whole other bottle of bolly.

ThunderboltandLightning · 21/12/2019 10:36

they’ve left it late for them to be christened haven’t they?

Alternatively left it til he is old enough to make a decision for himself. Even Harper is old enough to have a view for herself on whether she wants to be baptised alongside her brother.

There's more than a whiff of judgment about this thread. How anyone can assess the strength of a relationship based on this is beyond me.

LizzieBananas · 21/12/2019 10:39

When they become your step siblings, it may be time to invite them.

Time doesn’t tell us how close they are and whether the media is just making stuff up

YappityYapYap · 21/12/2019 10:52

Why are they Christening their kids now? Aren't they like 8 and 12 or something like that? Publicity stunt if you ask me to get their names in the papers and that again

NewName73 · 21/12/2019 11:15

I couldn't give a flying fuck ...

GrouchoMrx · 21/12/2019 11:17

If it's in the Daily Mail, it must be true. Hmm

anxioussue · 21/12/2019 11:26

Has he decided what religion he wants them christened into yet ?

BelfastNonBlonde · 21/12/2019 11:28

Are they not a bit old to be christened?

Aragog · 21/12/2019 11:39

Are they not a bit old to be christened?

No, not too old. Infant many people now believe it is better to wait until children, or adults, themselves make the decision to be baptised rather than parents deciding for them.

You can be baptised, or christened, at any age.

BoxedWine · 21/12/2019 11:47

There are denominations of Christianity where it's not done until children are older. No idea which one this will be but it's not that unusual as a concept. Though I'm surprised, I remember reading that David said the religion he felt the closest connection to was Judaism because his grandad used to take him to the synagogue.

Rubyupbeat · 21/12/2019 12:01

Well hopefully they are church goers. As the biggest hypocrisy is getting babies/children christened when you are doing it as non believers and church goers.
Usually its just for the party afterwards and in their case, not being in the news lately, probably for the media and celebrity guests!

lisag1969 · 21/12/2019 15:02

She just chasing celebrity fame. X

Genevieva · 21/12/2019 15:11

Christenings are either intimate family occasions or they are part of the normal Sunday service and shared with the whole congregation, in which case they are open to the public. Any party held afterward is obviously a private event - normally close family, godparents and a few friends.

They are an unusual age to be Christened. I was Confirmed at 13. Possibly too young when I look back on it, but by that age I would expect a baptism-confirmation combined rather than the traditional Anglican baptism liturgy.

HeresMe · 21/12/2019 15:19

they’ve left it late for them to be christened haven’t they?

Well it's more media attention for the beckham brand isn't it, well that's what they are always after.

Normandy144 · 21/12/2019 15:21

I don't find it unusual but then again i disagree with infant baptism because the child isn't old enough to understand. I think it's nice they've made the choice.
