I realised as I was driving to work this morning, that prior to reading someone’s comment on MN about how it irritated them, I had never noticed people having their fog lights on unnecessarily. Now it registers every time I see it and it’s really bloody annoying!

What do you wish you could un-read?

Anything to do with Brexit or the Election. Gives you a very warped idea of the views of the whole population, you have to get a ablanced view somewhere else, anywhere else actually

TheFestiveIf · 19/12/2019 17:09

@SuperLoudPoppingAction

The threads where a guy basically set his little girl on fire and the mum had to nurse her back to health and was sorting through her feelings about this guy.

That was the very first thing I thought of when I saw this thread title. I do wonder how they're doing from time to time.

Furiosa · 19/12/2019 17:21

Can someone please link to the Savernake forest story. I don't think I've heard that one.

MarshaBradyo · 19/12/2019 17:26

I am good at avoiding plots of yucky horror movies on here and anywhere until I read about one in an innocent Ikea thread of all places. Wish I didn’t know about it.

SecretWitch · 19/12/2019 17:30

There was one poster here who saddened me every time she posted. She wrote about having six children in a two bed, with another on the way. SS was involved and kept catching her out on her parenting plan.
Her boyfriend and father of new baby was a cock lodger but she loved him.

It was like reading about a train wreck.

JeffreyJefferson · 19/12/2019 17:31

the game

VanyaHargreeves · 19/12/2019 17:32

Unfortunately @Furiosa it was a post buried on a woo thread many pages in and I can't remember which one

Might be one in Classics

"Strangest thing"

Furiosa · 19/12/2019 17:34

Found the Forest one:

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/the_unexplained/3695627-Where-has-the-Savernake-Forest-post-gone

Whats the Ikea one Marsha?

Knowhowufeel · 19/12/2019 17:39

@lilmishap, what is this game?

crispysausagerolls · 19/12/2019 17:45

There was one where a newborn was EBF and the father took the newborn to his parents who lived hours away against her will. She had had a c section and could hardly move. It was shocking and awful and really effected me - and then she was defending him and deleted the thread.

NurseButtercup · 19/12/2019 17:49

I came on here to moan about the recent post about the MIL, who picks on the DIL because she doesn't hold her knife and fork correctly. Therefore she was dreading xmas day dinner. Posters waded in to discuss etiquette and social class and manners blah blah blah. Who gives a shit about table etiquette during family xmas day dinner?? Who are these people? Eat with a spoon if it's necessary! I don't know anybody in real life that would be this preoccupied.

I've rtft and I concur about self-id and transgender rights, MN has been a real education on this topic.

Bobbybobbins · 19/12/2019 17:56

Definitely all the posts about abusive relationships.

On a less serious note, that people change pjs/towels/bedsheets far more often than me!

Gutterton · 19/12/2019 17:58

Can anyone do a quick summary of self-id and transgender issue please - if possible

SimonJT · 19/12/2019 17:59

‘My toddler died today’

It was so awful to read, I got in my sons bed and had a good cry while he was asleep. It took quite a while to get it out of my head.

Lllot5 · 19/12/2019 18:00

The lymphoma one was a troll? Ffs been worried about her day.

YappityYapYap · 19/12/2019 18:01

The woman that had 5 terminations because contraception made her gain weight and she smoked and was campaigning for terminations until due date. I was almost sick

SuzanneSays · 19/12/2019 18:03

Never google space docking

gokartdillydilly · 19/12/2019 18:09

@simonJT I could hardly function after reading that post. My kids are all grown up but I was really affected by that post. Saddest thing I've ever read. The outpouring of love and grief was overwhelming.

This morning I read a devastating post about a woman whose husband was dying of cancer. I cried my eyes out over my breakfast, and been on my mind all day, then it turns out it may not be true. Who would do that?

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 19/12/2019 18:10

@Stravapalava Everyone is ALWAYS playing the game whether they know it or not.

@Knowhowufeel Everyone is always playing The Game, The Game is not to think about or remember it. As soon as you do you have lost. And you must tell at least one person that you have lost.

slipperywhensparticus · 19/12/2019 18:17

There was a rape one it was deleted one question she asked was why do men do this cue some absolute bitch telling her it's not all men and women put themselves in unsafe positions so pretty much saying it's your fault and dont think your special

furrymulesandPJs · 19/12/2019 18:17

JuniLoolaPalooza

As a survivor of abuse of all kinds as a child and adult, I struggle to get my head round why someoen would troll about that. How vile! I hope they got banned.

How did you discover they were trolling? I ask because my troll radar is very bad- am not a person trusting genrally (due to the abuse) but I tend to be really bad at spotting trolls online.

daysofpearlyspencer · 19/12/2019 18:18

FWR for me too, stumbled upon by accident and to my family's horror I am now a full on raving radical feminist and whish I could un know all that TRA shit and poor Maya Forstater...

Snog · 19/12/2019 18:27

Dragon butter

furrymulesandPJs · 19/12/2019 18:33

The ones that come to mind for me are:

Sootikin, dragon butter, space docking etc

Loo brush in dishwasher

A horrific thread where a vulnerable poster posted on AIBU admitting she had been unreasonable about something, but posters kept pilimg on to her. This OP had admitted she had ben in treat, ent for a mental breakdown and had some kind of personality disorder and had also been told she may have ASD which caused her personal intereactions with people to be a problem, only to have Mnetters bash her for mentioning ASD when she had no acttual diagnosis and using it as an excuse- the OP apologised and then admittign some of the nasty reactions were causing her to want to harm herself and begging them to be gentle. Only to have a couple of very vicious MNetters tell her to stop "Pretending to want to self harm because the thread isn't going your way" etc I have some experience with people with the "personality disorder" label and so whereas sometimes their behaviour can be manipulative and difficult, I also know they find any kind of invalidation threatening and that self harm, is oftena genuine response to feeling invalidated. Usually a past trauma in childhood caused someone with a PD to feel very invalidated and shamed at their core snd they lash out/hurt themselves/feel like hurting themselves etc and it escalates. So yeah, I did feel all the piling on to this OP was inappropriate- it wasn't like she drip fed- she mentioned her PD from the start.

The endless Brexit/Remain crap which I scroll past.

I try to avoid posts about child abuse or DV, due to my own experiences, so cannot comment on most of those.

A post, which I hope was a troll, where a "friend" of the OPs admitted she deliberately killed a guinea pig as a response to being dumped by her boyf. I do suspect she was a troll, and hope so.

FruitcakeOfHate · 19/12/2019 18:36

Sadly, a lot of people troll about child death. I've learned that if they're not established posters it may not be true Sad. I have lost a child myself. I wish every day that it were not true.
