To give £100 Xmas bonus to cleaner

AlorMy · 17/12/2019 16:36

Usually pay her £25 a week.

She’s been cleaning my home about 8 months so first Xmas.

I’m thinking of £100. Is that too much? Not enough?

YABU = too little
YANBU = anything else (just right/too much)

As a cleaner - that would make my Christmas. Especially if, like me, I am not needed over the Christmas period it would help massively.
Thank you op on behalf of cleaners everywhere :)

Wow, sounds like she deserves a bonus Grin

kaydon69 · 18/12/2019 17:41

That's a lot. I'm a cleaner and usually get a bottle of wine or a box of chocolates .

imsoootired · 18/12/2019 17:44

Wow £100 would be fab but if you are stretching yourself anything extra is fab .i usually get a bit extra , £20 here and there a bottle of wine , box of chocolate.. to be honest anything is appreciated. Some don’t do anything and that’s fine as well .. I don’t expect it . I give a little something to some of mine as well .. chocolate and fun gifts for the groups of lads I clean for ..

Bimmy76 · 18/12/2019 17:48

£100 is what I give which is equivalent to what I pay per week.

Turquoise123 · 18/12/2019 17:50

I give a week’s pay as a bonus

NKFell · 18/12/2019 17:50

If she does a good job and you can afford it then that's lovely. YANBU!

Interestedwoman · 18/12/2019 17:51

YANBU! I've been a cleaner and this'd be great. How many hours is she doing btw? The minimum wage is about £10 now- is she only doing 2.5 hours? Honestly seems unlikely, in which case she is being illegally underpaid. The average is say, 3 hours once a week. That'd be about £30. I reckon you owe her that money tbh, if not more.

Feefsie · 18/12/2019 17:51

I gave my cleaner a £30 voucher for Next. She comes twice every week and I pay her £60. I think £100 is too much, also if you give her cash and she’s self employed she should really declare it as taxable income.

VentiSkinnyLatte · 18/12/2019 17:54

If you can afford it,it’s a great amount I’m sure she’ll appreciate it

TatianaLarina · 18/12/2019 17:55

I was assuming 2.5 hours too.

You should give her a week’s wages anyway and then a decent present on top.

DrSK2 · 18/12/2019 17:55

Too much

MrsBadcrumble123 · 18/12/2019 17:55

I cleaned for a neighbour/friend for 3 years never got a bean for Christmas - your cleaner is lucky!

Arnoldthecat · 18/12/2019 17:55

Can i be your cleaner? PS i can also do DIY and a plethora of other tasks.

Bleen · 18/12/2019 17:55

I think you are being very generous. If you are pleased with her cleaning then she will be over the moon. She obviously doesn’t earn a lot so this would make her xmas extra special. Well done you and merry Christmas

Bimmy76 · 18/12/2019 17:57

If she’s self-employed the minimum wage doesn’t apply.

TheReef · 18/12/2019 17:57

Blimey! Mine gets a box of quality street and a bottle of wine

TatianaLarina · 18/12/2019 17:58

If she’s self-employed the minimum wage doesn’t apply.

Morally it does. Shouldn’t be paying a cleaner less than £10 per hr.

User67836 · 18/12/2019 18:02

I was going to give a small gift and many £10

couchparsnip · 18/12/2019 18:03

I have 2 cleaners and I gave both £20. I am sure your cleaner would be happy with £100 if you can spare it!

Themadcleaner · 18/12/2019 18:04

Thats super generous, id be delighted and probably cry if i had that as a gift. Normal gifts most years include chocolates alone, chocolates and wine, chocolates And wine And a weeks bonus or gift vouchers. Its all appreciated very much, as are nice cards with heartfelt messages.

Greenwingmemories · 18/12/2019 18:04

Good cleaners are worth their weight in gold. We give a bonus of about that amount. She has been working for us for ten years. I love her a little bit. YANBU.

wifesupremacist · 18/12/2019 18:06

there's no such thing as too much, if you can afford it do it

ForkHandlesplease · 18/12/2019 18:07

If you can afford it, it's fine. It would be very much appreciated I'm sure.

ChristmasSeacow · 18/12/2019 18:09

I’m giving £50, which is a week’s pay, and some chocolates. I’ve only had her since September but she’s pretty good and I’d be miserable without her!
