Its from DH to me.

To think this is a hideous card?
OP posts:
Woventabby · 16/12/2019 13:31

I thought it was a roasted pig donned with decorations for the festive season, before I had a closer look. Sorry!

MrsFoxPlus4Again · 16/12/2019 13:31

I appreciate the thought more than the picture. There’s worse things going on in the world than not liking the photo on your card. Merry Christmas Grin

SooticaTheWitchesCat · 16/12/2019 13:33

I quite like it.
At least you get a card from your DH, mine never sends me a Christmas card.

LemonPrism · 16/12/2019 13:33

How does it look dead?

shadyzadie · 16/12/2019 13:36

Oh god OP, my first thought was 'why does the upturned pig have a tail, and why has it been doodled on?' Grin

9ofpentangles · 16/12/2019 13:37

It's ok but it's upside down

Yetanotherwinter · 16/12/2019 13:41

It’s fine. I suppose it’s hard to know how awful it is without knowing the context of what he usually sends you.

Lweji · 16/12/2019 13:42

A cat on it's back and showing you it's belly is a sign of absolute trust.

Not at all. It's a trap.
My cat does this only to be able to scratch us using his back legs.

Bluntness100 · 16/12/2019 13:45

The fact it's three days late is an issue, the card itself is fine. Are you usually so sensitive about cards? Confused

anxioussue · 16/12/2019 13:46

It's fine

Bluerussian · 16/12/2019 13:47

Looks like a craft cat, made out of felt or something. Cute! Might have been better if not upside down, pushing up daisies, but pretty enough.
Nothing to get offended about, he meant well.

Charlottejbt · 16/12/2019 13:51

I'm going to bet he got it from his mother or someone who bought a box of multi purpose greeting cards, it looks like the type you would get in those.

This. I bought a box of mixed greetings cards once, and there was one card which had a picture of a collie dog (healthier looking than the OP's cat!) sitting next to a melon, captioned "I'm melon-collie without you". I put it away in a drawer thinking who the hell would want that. Years later I'm dating DP, who loves dogs and bad puns, and I send him the card, which is a great success. He spends five minutes mansplaining in French why "melon-collie" is such a brilliant pun. So your card isn't bad as such, it should just have been saved for a recipient who likes dead tattooed cats that look like pigs. Assuming you'd want to know such a person!

BlueJava · 16/12/2019 13:52

That's horrible. The cat looks dead and 3 days late - what was he doing? Finding a pen? Treat yourself to something you'd really like on his money!

QueenOfTheFae · 16/12/2019 13:54

its obviously not a dead cat, and he's saying "you're the cats meow" which is (according to Google)

the cat's meow
Archaic 1920s American slang that in various contexts refers to one or more of "excellent", "stylish", or "impressive to the ladies".

Synonymous with the cat's pyjamas and the bees' knees.
George, your zoot suit is quite the cat's meow! Perhaps now you will have a chance of capturing the attention of that flapper Matilda, she of the crimson ankle-baring swimsuit!

HeckyPeck · 16/12/2019 14:05

The card is fine. 3 day’s late because he couldn’t find the time to write it is taking the piss.

YouretheChristmasCarcass · 16/12/2019 14:07

What does the message inside say? Maybe it's a case of 'ugly outside, beautiful inside'?

ginghamtablecloths · 16/12/2019 14:08

I think it's quite pretty.

FTFOTFVille · 16/12/2019 14:12

Nah. Cat looks dead.

ClinkyMonkey · 16/12/2019 14:14

If DP gave me a card like that I would think that he just couldn't be arsed putting the effort in. But after 30 something odd years together, I know the sort of card he normally gives me and that's a million miles away. I would find that too whimsical, although I might wonder if it was supposed to be sarcastic. It's all about context.

DingDongMerrilyOnThigh · 16/12/2019 14:24

At least it didn't say "you're the dog's bollocks!" with a picture to match....

We've got various photos of our sausage dog sleeping on his back, not looking dead but showing all he's got. A card with a similar picture and that caption would work fine in our family! :-

A late pink tattooed cat, not so much.

KurriKurri · 16/12/2019 14:26

I rather like it - but then again it looks like something I might make at my pottery evening class (I'n not a talented potterGrin)
The sentiment is nice though. I didn;t have my specs on when I first looked and assumed it said 'you're the cat's pyjamas' - because it looks like a dead cat in pink pyjamas.

XH once gave me a birthday present wrapped in paper that said 'you're the dog's bollocks' on it, and had cartoon pictures of dogs with their balls dangling. God knows where he bought it - he said he didn't notice and thought it was just nice dog pictures.

ScreamingLadySutch · 16/12/2019 14:30

I like it. Its what cats do when they are happy to see you, isn't it?

TheStuffedPenguin · 16/12/2019 14:31

Ive seen this card IRL and the colours and the rose gold look much nicer than this. In fact I gave it to someone for their birthday last week Grin

gothefcktosleep · 16/12/2019 14:36

I agree with PP it shouldn’t be 3 days late... it’s okay as a card but not to your darling wife. I would feel a little hurt if usually he got more romantic cards.... is late and rubbish better than never though?

ILearnedItFromABook · 16/12/2019 14:39

It's ugly. It did occur to me that the cat was in the "dead" position, but I don't think that was intended. However, it's still ugly.

I'd be more upset that it's late and felt like a three-days-after-the last-minute effort from your husband.

Context would determine how bothered I'd be.
