Its from DH to me.

To think this is a hideous card?

I thought he may have been waylaid doing something heroic, lifesaving, important for the future of humanity or saving the world. A three day late insipid looking card with a hip saying from the 1920’s. I’m afraid I would be underwhelmed - I have no poker face - he would be aware of my feelings too. Happy belated Birthday wishes OP.

Happy Birthday StarGlitterballGinCakeGinCakeGlitterballStar Happy Birthday

GabsAlot · 16/12/2019 12:27

The 3 days late is the problem not the card

DanaPhoenix · 16/12/2019 12:30

Happy belated birthday. I should confess when I looked at that card I could hear Phoebe from friends singing Dead Cat, but I've got a weird sense of humour.

BlackCatSleeping · 16/12/2019 12:32

There are so many beautiful cards out there and he got you that?

I love cats, but even I would be Hmm at that card.

slashlover · 16/12/2019 12:33

A cat on it's back and showing you it's belly is a sign of absolute trust.

FizzyGreenWater · 16/12/2019 12:33

Give the cat a speech bubble saying 'Argh I'm taken too soon, pray for meeeeeee - OW!'

lottiegarbanzo · 16/12/2019 12:37

A falling cat, about to land on its feet.

Maybe the implication is that he's the falling cat, you're 'the cat's miaow' that keeps it alive and upright.

Or just a poorly thought-through variation on 'dog's bollocks'?

Beautiful3 · 16/12/2019 12:40

I like it. Yabu. I dont even get a card from mine!

Probablythatone · 16/12/2019 12:42

It’s the three days late that stands out more than the pink dead cat. Not sure they’re tattoos. I think it’s where he’s been stitched up after post-mortem I think.

midep · 16/12/2019 12:42

I like it. How much I like it depends on if it's a nice expensive, stiff one or a nasty, cheap, floppy one.

BarbourellaTheCoatzilla · 16/12/2019 12:44

Cards are awful anyway. A waste. Tell him not to bother next year and don't get hung up on the design of something you're going to bin anyway.

managedmis · 16/12/2019 12:45

It's quite rubbish really

WhatchaMean · 16/12/2019 12:45

Is it a dead pig?
Oh wait, it's a cat. And you're the meow? Meow's are annoying sometimes.

@slashlover

For my cat it’s a trick. You touch his belly and he attacks you with all four claws and teeth. Don’t produce cute furry bellies to me then kick off whne I rub them! Daft creature

OutwiththeOutCrowd · 16/12/2019 13:15

By the look of things the words should be:

................. . . . last
You're the cat's ^ meow.

MorganKitten · 16/12/2019 13:16

It’s fine

inwood · 16/12/2019 13:19

You get each other Christmas cards?!

BlackCatSleeping · 16/12/2019 13:20

I think it's a combination of the drab background, the badly drawn cat and the badly placed writing. Is it hand made?

SageRosemary · 16/12/2019 13:21

I see a compliment in the sentiment. And a cat looking to have it's tummy tickled. I like the sentiment, not the image. It's not a card I'd send but it's not hideous. I wonder who buys all those "To my darling Wife" cards because my DH doesn't. Not sure when he was last in a card shop, maybe about 5 years ago.

Grandmi · 16/12/2019 13:22

Crikey...cannot believe you have gone to the effort of posting this !! Be thankful you have a husband who has bothered to take the time to choose it ,assuming you are a cat lover. Nothing wrong with the card or the sentiment behind it !!

slashlover · 16/12/2019 13:23

@TheDarkPassenger

Mine allows about 10 seconds of tummy rubs - just enough to lull you into a false sense of security. She's the same with pets - purrs, rubs against your hand, eyes closed then randomly changes and tried to bite you - not hard though.

vassdal · 16/12/2019 13:26

I thought it was an early Christmas card at first and then it turns out it's a belated birthday card. So yeah, that colours my view a bit.
The sentiment behind it is nice. I don't like it - it's not to my taste. Don't like the colours. Don't like the pearl things on it. Don't like the fact it looks like a tattooed pig with a tail rather than a cute cat. But I have had similar cards like this before from one aunty in particular and from a couple of cousins who have completely different artistic tastes to me - I still appreciate it though.

However, it's a birthday card and it's 3 days late - so that does spoil things a bit. Even if the card was to your taste and the most beautiful card ever I think the fact that your DH couldn't get it to you on time would mean you'd still be disappointed.

Aridane · 16/12/2019 13:27

Just your bog standard 30p card

Where do you get 30p cards from?

QueSera · 16/12/2019 13:29

Cute pic and sweet message (basically, you're the best!). What on earth is wrong with it? The cat doesn't look dead - that's how my cat lies when she wants her tummy stroked (which is most of the time! first cat I've ever had who lets you do this!).
But 3 days late is highly annoying.
