Have two DC of 3.5 and 7, v competitive, and there’s always tears from the one who doesn’t winHmm. Looking for a board game(s) to play at Christmas, can anyone recommend one for those ages and ideally one that isn’t likely to cause fights.
Also IABU tonask this here but I didn’t know where else the query could go...

What about Pieface? Or Twister

sunshinesupermum · 15/12/2019 22:37

We played cat bingo today which went down a treat. 3 yr old was on his Mum's team and 7 year old could have played alone but decided to go on his uncle's tea. Great fun.

Have a look at Eye found it. We have the Disney version but i think there are others.
You play individually but collaboratively I.e you all have to get to the end to win or nobody wins.

Letthemysterybe · 15/12/2019 22:43

We all had fun playing Pictionary this weekend.

Disfordarkchocolate · 15/12/2019 22:46

We love Dobble, it's a quick game so you play a few times and generally most people will win (unless you have my husband playing, a potting stuff is his superpower).

We also like Qwordie, a good range of questions for all ages.

Disfordarkchocolate · 15/12/2019 22:46

^ a potting = spotting.

MollyButton · 15/12/2019 22:47

Peaceable Kingdom has a number of co-operative games on Amazon for children. That's probably a good starting place.

justasking111 · 15/12/2019 22:48

Pop up pirate and snakes and ladders are a winner here. Games of chance rather than skill cause way less upset.

amiw · 15/12/2019 22:50

Cards against humanity brings people together. Too old for your LO

BingoLittlesUncle · 15/12/2019 22:51

A board game that doesn't lead to fights, "Lady, there ain't no such animal."

Guineapigbridge · 15/12/2019 22:53

For the 3 year old, we liked this Richard Scarry game,Busytown. No one wins, it’s all about finding things on the board. www.fun.com/richard-scarrys-busytown-eye-found-it-game.html?mpid=218403&gclid=Cj0KCQiA0NfvBRCVARIsAO4930nFpoFVoW1Ar1lEoYlB9ftgxVdNhcG67pzy2OQXnRh1nKFyUTa4_yAaAkAzEALw_wcB

We like cluedo for older primary aged

bumpertobumper · 16/12/2019 00:09

Cauldron quest.
It is a fun game and the players against the game rather than each other so cuts out the fights.

bridgetreilly · 16/12/2019 01:11

Exploding Kittens.

Isithometimeyet0987 · 16/12/2019 01:13

We have Pictionary air, jenga, twister, buckaroo, connect 4, guess who, pie face, hungry hippos, kerplunk (is that how you spell it?), charades, bop it and then the normal ones that do cause fights like snakes and ladders, ludo etc my dd 4 plays these with other kids in the family and we’ve never had arguments and some a quite competitive.

Isithometimeyet0987 · 16/12/2019 01:14

@BingoLittlesUncle I love cards of humanity, it’s hilarious to play with friends having a few drinks.

HerRoyalNotness · 16/12/2019 02:25

Mastermind. Battleship (DS got an old one from his teacher and because I was telling him we had one that made sounds when I was a kid he’s bought the family a new one for Xmas

bananabread2000 · 16/12/2019 02:27

The collaborative games from peaceable Kingdom are good because you are all on the same side and the older ones have to help the younger ones.

PumpkinPieAlibi · 16/12/2019 02:28

Co-op games like Pandemic work here.

clearsommespace · 16/12/2019 03:01

Pandemic is for adults and much older children.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 16/12/2019 03:18

What a Performance is really fun!

BlackCatSleeping · 16/12/2019 03:24

I think it’s the kids not the game because mine are the same. 😂

I’m getting them Junior Cluedo and Junior Monopoly this Christmas. I just accept the fights. It can’t be helped!

Phuquocdreams · 16/12/2019 05:11

Oh brilliant, thanks for all the ideas, I’ll look those all up now

Go for cooperative games. With some help, they should be able to play something like Forbidden Island (work together to get treasures rescued from an island before it sinks). Magic Maze is an interesting one - you're not allowed to speak but have to cooperate. With both of those, the younger one might need some help playing but one of the good things about a cooperative game is that help is easier to give!

Nicpem1982 · 16/12/2019 06:36

Second peaceable kingdom we have mermaid Island and its quite fun.

Other cooperative games we have are banditos and honeycomb.

Non cooperative games that don't cause issues in my house with dd and her friends are

Sleeping Queens
Dobble
Qwirkle
Winston
Scotland Yard
