Have two DC of 3.5 and 7, v competitive, and there’s always tears from the one who doesn’t winHmm. Looking for a board game(s) to play at Christmas, can anyone recommend one for those ages and ideally one that isn’t likely to cause fights.
Also IABU tonask this here but I didn’t know where else the query could go...

double is excellent because you can divide the cards unevenly so that the 3.5 yo has an easier challenge to win.

in a few years time get "the captain is dead" which is another excellent cooperative game but I think it would be beyond a 3.5yo. have played successfully with 6yo

Definitely collaborative games!

I love Dixit, as accessible to all ages once they've got the idea, no reading required so anyone can win

It’s not the game, it’s the family! I say that as a member of a very over competitive family. I blame DH’s side but actually I am probably the worst. We all play to win. I doubt collaborative games would work, we would be competing to contribute the most. In such cases what is important is to learn to lose graciously, which I very much hope to master soon. Actually I’m fine unless it’s my own brother I’m losing to; then I revert to the six year old being trounced by an eleven year old of 50 years ago and it’s not pretty.

Again, thanks for your ideas - I’ve bought a couple of peaceable kingdom games (never heard of them before) and looking at dobble too

Dobble has a Harry Potter version too.
