@ultrablue voddy and irn bru is a very nice drink Xmas Smile

FromEden · 14/12/2019 17:54

Water and dioralyte, nurofen plus, a cold shower and instant noodles for the salt content are my tips. Followed by some kind of fast food for dinner or lunch. If you have the kind of hangover where you cant get up without throwing up though, pretty much nothing will help except sleep and staying hydrated.

Nanalisa60 · 14/12/2019 18:00

Irn bru followed an hour latter by bacon roll and mug of tea and a ton of biscuits, then back to bed for another three hours.

DragonontheWagon · 14/12/2019 18:06

Oh I feel your pain. I was like that last Saturday after Friday nights staff Christmas do. I stayed later than I thought I would and ended up wasted. Mac Donald's x three sorted me out, courtesy of dh who was sent to get them for me Grin

As a disclaimer I utterly ashamed of myself, in my 50s drinking so much alcohol Blush

AfterSchoolWorry · 14/12/2019 18:10

Ha, years ago, a cup of tea and toast.

Now, 24 hours in bed, a fry up, litres of diet 7up, mountains of cheese, a take away and another 16 hours in bed.

Babyg1995 · 14/12/2019 18:12

Beer and a takeaway

TheFuckingDogs · 14/12/2019 18:19

It’s bad but it’s true - a pint of lager

adviceneededon · 14/12/2019 18:21

I got in at 3am from our works do last night. I woke up at 9 and it's gone 6pm and I'm still vomiting. Only cure is wine but I've just been sat looking at it for the last 20 mins Envy

Tucobenedicto · 14/12/2019 18:31

Never mind Nicola sturgeon jo swinson...irn bru sorts the whole country out....hope you are feeling better op

Eveting2019 · 14/12/2019 18:41

Hydration and scrambled eggs - honestly, I can’t believe how much they help me.
Well, it’s any eggs... it’s proven they help.

CrowleysBentley · 14/12/2019 18:52

Bacon sandwich, pint of ribena, and a couple of paracetamol. Then go back to sleep for a couple of hours while it works.

Jog22 · 14/12/2019 19:03

Going for a walk. Walk brisk, get the oxygen flowing. Buy your supplies, get home, feel positive that you've been out. Then all the stuff above.

Notlostjustexploring · 14/12/2019 19:19

Urgh, I'm also still a bit hungover and my night out was on Thursday.
I can recommend:
Pizza with extra salt
Diet coke
Sleep
Water

Roughly in that order
Although yes to irn bru being the best hangover cure in existence. Also found that eating before bed helps, especially if it's pizza or cheesy chips.

Tothemoonandbackx · 14/12/2019 19:36

Bit of a boring response, but I'm Diabetic, (type 1 for 28 years) and although I can drink alcohol, it used to affect me in different ways, the main one being that I could wake up with low blood sugars if I hadn't managed to eat before or after any alcoholic intake, it took me time through my 20's to learn this 🙈 x it's worth noting that alcohol inhibits the liver from turning proteins into glucose, which gave me a bigger risk of hypoglycemia, and it can take a couple of hours to kick in. I'm assuming this is the main reason why when people wake up with a hangover and they drink any full fat drinks or have food high in carbs, they end up feeling better, as their glucose levels are probably evening out (though for non diabetics it's probably not as severe) . I always felt better for having something higher in carbs after, and eventually figured out why, the headache was due to dehydration, the tiredness was down to low glucose levels Xxxx but this is by far my own experience and shouldn't be taken as any sort medical advice Xxxx

absopugginglutely · 14/12/2019 20:23

3 litres of water over the course of the day, ibuprofen and paracetamol every 4 hours and loads of coffee.

fligglepige · 14/12/2019 20:23

KFC

Kolo · 14/12/2019 21:26

Probably too late for this hangover, but my routine is:

Pint of water and 2 paracetamol BEFORE bed.
Day of hangover, stay in bed as long as possible with bottle of mineral water (can't bear tap water when hungover for some reason), more paracetamol, chocolate milk, salty crisps. When you feel like you can move, shower and fresh air.

Jurassiclover · 14/12/2019 21:30

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. In the end I opted for a shower then more sleep, when DP got home he made me sausages mash and gravy which seems to have helped and I went with a good old 2lr bottle of irn bru

Deffo gonna get some Alka seltzer or vitamin C tablets to take for next time!! Hope everyone else who's suffering today feels better soon!

adviceneededon · 14/12/2019 21:32

Well I've tried since this thread:
Coke, diorolyte, travel sickness tablets and toast.
All have ended up down the toilet 🤢. So my next tactic is bed!

peachypetite · 15/12/2019 00:21

What is it about the Christmas party that makes us all go crazy. Mine was Thursday and I felt horrible all day yesterday. We started at 3pm which is probably why.

19lottie82 · 15/12/2019 00:29

Food, then a sleep.

wokingpizzaexpress · 15/12/2019 00:53

Freezing cold fat coke
Salt and vinegar McCoy's
Cadbury golden crisp
A banana
A dairylea dunker

7thlevelofthecandycaneforest · 15/12/2019 01:03

Bit late but always have food before bed and a pint of water! A jug of water next to the bed too and don’t get up in the morning until it’s gone. That then something substantial (beans on toast with cheese on top!).

managedmis · 15/12/2019 01:05

Cheese sandwich : white bread, butter, orange plastic cheese.

Maybe a Mars bar and a can of coke too.
