Just listening to Boris now, he seems very centralist. Could it be better than first thought?

I do hope he removes any ERG left in the Cabinet, and those who get right up people's noses like P Patel, Raab and other divisive figures ASAP.

He was quick enough to get rid of the moderates in order to Get Brexit Done and win the election wasn't he?

Then we might be able to breath a bit easier. By their actions shall you know them, words are cheap.

Blacksackunderthetreesfreeze · 13/12/2019 12:33

I agree that he doesn’t have any beliefs and so will do whatever is needed to stay in power.

sashh · 13/12/2019 12:36

boris hard right ? yeah, sure, so many pissed off people this morning they will still think the worst of us evil, murdering tories. [i haven't killed anyone yet, that may change as the day wears on though

YES YOU HAVE. And you will be responsible for more death, morte misery and more child poverty. I hope you are proud.

Boris has always been a centralist and believes in 'one nation'. He improved London's transport and services to equalise society there. He does actually believe in some quite decent things, but has had to appear more right wing because of the divisions in his own party (Brexit) and the lack of a majority. Now that he has a majority the conjecture is you will see the true man behind the bluster. Respected senior statesman Ken Clarke said he is highly intelligent so we have to be hopeful until the Labour Party come to their senses and become more sensible.

MarshaBradyo · 13/12/2019 18:46

Most people are in the centre and we’re left out by the two major parties. So, great if he does.

PigletJohn · 13/12/2019 23:37

Boris has always been a Borisite and believes in "one Boris."

He will say or do whatever he thinks will be good for Boris.

The use of the word ‘humble’ in his speech made me laugh, it was also used by a female Tory who had won her seat from Labour, it’s like there’s been an emergency memo, ‘we must use the word humble, remember we’re humble’. Humility in the Conservative party? As if.

BingoLittlesUncle · 13/12/2019 23:52

All Boris cares about is himself. Now that he has power he will want to hang onto it, which probably means bring more centrist than many in his party would like.

This is why you can trust him. You know if he says something and it's in his interest for it to happen, it will. Plus, he's got the 2024 election to win, so he won't want to disappoint all those new working class Tory voters.

Miljea · 14/12/2019 01:08

Well, let's see if Smirki Patel, Rich-Smugg or Raaabid get places in cabinet.

That is what will reveal how centrist BoJo is.

Chienloup · 14/12/2019 01:16

My favourite joke about Boris is the one which says "Boris Johnson waits to see which way the crowd are going, and then pushes to the front shouting 'follow me'".

StarbucksSmarterSister · 14/12/2019 01:22

They always sound conciliatory at the start though. I remember Thatcher 11 "where there is discord we will bring harmony". Yeah right, she was probably the most divisive PM we've ever had.

Agree that he's not hard right though. He just used them to get to power.

StarbucksSmarterSister · 14/12/2019 01:23

Thatcher 11? No idea where the 11 came from.

echt · 14/12/2019 03:47

It will be interesting to see how things pan out now that the Tory --scum- government doesn't have to crawl up the backside of the DUP.
