AIBU?

Advent calendar doors – open or torn off?

Celebelly · 12/12/2019 12:04

Settle this debate between me and DP (who is about to be DH as of 3pm tomorrow Grin )

He thinks you rip the advent calendar doors off once you open them (YABU)
I think you leave them on and just have them ajar (YANBU)

Also are they doors or windows? I've said doors but maybe they're windows! Anyway...

Go to it!

Am I being unreasonable?

Open and ajar! Although toddler does his best to destroy...

Doors. Left open. Ripping them off makes the calendar look bare.
Congratulations for tomorrow Flowers

Good luck tomorrow!
Definitely leave them on (I call them doors too).

What kind of heathen rips the doors off an advent calendar?

I agree with mancubs. Ripping them off is absolute savagery!

Windows, opened then closed over again 😂
Best of luck for tomorrow!

I’d call them doors and I definitely wouldn’t rip them off - that would look messy to me.

However assuming you both have your own advent calendars it’s unreasonable for either of you to expect the other to follow their preference. You do yours and he should do his. If you’re sharing then you are both unreasonable not to just have your own!!

opened then closed over again

This is a possibility I'd never even considered! Madness!

Thanks for the best wishes Smile I'm titting about posting stuff on MN instead of the million other things I should be doing!

I close them back again too!

Ripping them off seems savage and keeping them open seems messy? But I suppose they do decorate the inside of the flap for a reason

Opened gently, then closed again for next year ( I'm looking at you mother )

I rip them off

I open then close again.

Work gave everyone an advent calendar this year, a few people have left them at work. One person I considered to be a friend, rips the doors off. I am now revaluating the friendship (light-hearted a little )

They're doors. They open (and not ripped off, although DH and I have differences on this too 😂) All the best for tomorrow. Congrats.

Open and leave ajar and they are doors! YANBU!

Leave on AND re-closer here.

It looks neater.

AND if the doors are all reclosed it takes DD5 longer to find the right door each day. A few more moments of peace for me Grin

My youngest, years ago before chocolate calendars were in UK, Dec 1 eat the lot then close the windows again and pretend for the rest of the month. We pretended that we didn't know .

Definitely grounds to reconsider plans for tomorrow,

He rips the doors off advent calendars?! What a heathen. He probably likes to smash in the proverbial back doors too. Definitely a keeper.
