To still not know who to vote for?

Illstartexercisingtomorrow · 12/12/2019 07:05

Or whether it will make any difference anyway?

I don’t want Boris in power.

I don’t want Corbyn in power.

Jo will never win.

WTF do I do? And I’m not going to not vote, the referendum taught me how important my vote would have been.

I’ll be voting Lib Dem, I honestly can’t vote conservative and labour doesn’t have a chance in my constituency, apparently my area is one of the seats that will ‘make a difference’ according the newspapers and websites.

Our local Lib Dem campaigner has been canvassing like nobody’s business, which whilst annoying to the extreme she’s been doing it, God loves a trier!
We got a lovely handwritten letter, I can just imagine her and her mates all sat around writing these letters, it weirdly makes me smile.

Enterthewolves · 12/12/2019 08:08

How can you not know who to vote for on the day of the election? Do you want a country that kills disabled people, pushes children into poverty, destroys the NHS, increases homelessness and takes no responsibility for melting ice caps? If no tote tactically to keep out the Tories, if yes, well, your problems are bigger than choosing who to vote for.

BabySharksMummyShark · 12/12/2019 08:09

@SnorkMaiden81 thats a tad harsh

I personally have done a lot of research as i said upthread as this is important to me, talked to people, compared manifestos etc. i have made a decision and said that is who i am voting for, i then heard something/saw a report that changed my mind hence why i was undecided.

SlightlyWizened · 12/12/2019 08:13

noblegiraffe thanks. Sadly its still giving a safe tory result with libdems second and labour now third.
Guess I'll vote LibDem.
Although if I went with my heart I'd vote Labour.

TheABC · 12/12/2019 08:13

Tactical voting, all the way for your least worst option.I won't venture an opinion on which party to choose - it will depend on your constituency.

FPTP truly sucks.

Rombocious · 12/12/2019 08:24

It's been said but tactical-vote.uk is a trustworthy anti Boris site

speakout · 12/12/2019 08:30

It's been said but tactical-vote.uk is a trustworthy anti Boris si

Also quite anti- UK.

BeardedMum · 12/12/2019 08:33

Why anti-UK?

speakout · 12/12/2019 08:36

BeardedMum

Because it doesn't work for people living in Scotland.

Devisive and anto UK.

The break up of the union is a real threat.

Salene · 12/12/2019 08:37

Vote for policies not personalities

Everyone should take this survey and vote based on that

voteforpolicies.org.uk/survey/1/select-issues

GiveHerHellFromUs · 12/12/2019 08:39

@speakout SNP are anti-UK too and we're still using them as a viable source of information.

noblegiraffe · 12/12/2019 08:44

Tories are relying on remainers reading manifestos and voting on policies because the remain vote will then be split over many parties and they will easily win because the Brexit Party, their Leave rivals, tactically stood down against them.

Tactical voting is the only way to avoid a result you don’t want because if you’re a remainer or not Tory, you’re not going to get the result you do want.

Tactical voting was already done for you by Leave by the candidates standing down.

Smelborp · 12/12/2019 08:47

I would vote tactically as it’s the only way to stop a Tory majority. Corbyn is very unlikely to be prime minister and even if he was, it would be in a coalition. IMO a hung parliament is the best we can hope for.

TolstoyAteMyHamster · 12/12/2019 08:50

SnorkMaiden, I assure you the fact I do not know who to vote for has nothing to do with a lack of preparation and research, and much more to do with being politically homeless this time round. I have always voted, campaigned at times, and am extremely well informed. The more I learn, the less I like. It is a sad state of affairs and I know I am not alone.

Breastfeedingworries · 12/12/2019 08:54

I’m voting labour, the campaign of hate towards Corbyn has massively screwed his chance at a majority, but I don’t want boris in power. I’m pretty poor myself and a single parent, I’m voting for me and my daughter really. Needed the NHS when I had an emergency c section.

Sammi38 · 12/12/2019 08:57

Will Labour save the nhs though?

CodenameVillanelle · 12/12/2019 09:00

Labour will not allow the NHS to be part of any trade negotiation with the US which is the MOST significant threat under a Johnson leave agreement

JeffreeStar · 12/12/2019 09:02

It wasn’t a hand written letter, it was a carefully made letter that looks handwritten, I binned mine.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/12/2019 09:03

Perfectly understandable that people still don’t know who to vote for on the day on the election. Especially this election.

The important thing is you get out and vote, even if you are still making your mind up when you walk into the polling station.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 12/12/2019 09:04

Will Labour save the nhs though?

It's Labour who sold parts of the NHS off to private companies.

Damntheman · 12/12/2019 09:19

Tactical vote for a coalition. Labour is never going to win a majority (sadly) so I wouldn't worry about that. Rainbow coalition all the way!

laudete · 12/12/2019 09:31

Have a little faith in yourself to make a reasonable decision based on your own opinions.

Vote for Policies and I Side With are good quiz websites to help you work out which party most closely aligns with your personal views. Answer the questions to get a percentage breakdown and vote for the one closest to the majority of your views. Both websites hide the party names until you've selected all the policies that are the closest match to what you'd like to see happen. :) x

Well that’s a lot of excellent ideas and thoughts on this.

FPTP skews things for me as I feel I have no real say in who the PM will be. In my area there is a huge labour majority, voting for anyone else is essentially pointless as the other parties don’t come close.
