To still not know who to vote for?

Illstartexercisingtomorrow · 12/12/2019 07:05

Or whether it will make any difference anyway?

I don’t want Boris in power.

I don’t want Corbyn in power.

Jo will never win.

WTF do I do? And I’m not going to not vote, the referendum taught me how important my vote would have been.

@flev.
Thank you flev. I just didn't think like that at all. You have made my decision much easier 👍

Tiredandgrumpytonight · 12/12/2019 07:36

How do you find out which one would block Tory’s in your area?

MustardScreams · 12/12/2019 07:37

@Tiredandgrumpytonight have a look at 2017 election results in your area and vote for the party that was second.

Tiredandgrumpytonight · 12/12/2019 07:38

Parliamentary one? SNP, then Tories then Labour Confused

Redwinestillfine · 12/12/2019 07:39

Vote for the least worst option. Spoiling your ballot might make you feel good but is ultimately pointless. I doubt they even pay attention to the comments.

GiveHerHellFromUs · 12/12/2019 07:39

@Tiredandgrumpytonight here you go: tactical.vote

Snowy111 · 12/12/2019 07:39

JC won’t get in power, the best he can hope for is a hung parliament, and a people’s vote on soft brexit

But more likely is Tory victory and no deal brexit. BJ has promised the ERG a no deal Brexit

So stop Boris by voting tactically!

lovelyupnorth · 12/12/2019 07:40

I’ve voted tactically in the hope of a hung parliament as don’t really want either of the main leaders as PM

I swop my vote with someone in a seat where the party I like least might win. But that meant voting for someone I really don’t like but feel it’s the least worst option for the country.

If either main party get a majority I'm fucked be it brexit or labours policies on business.

We’ve already pulled out of a house purchase and looking to emigrate to somewhere more open and tolerant thinking North Korea.

QuitMoaning · 12/12/2019 07:40

I felt exactly the same as OP (I have already voted as I now on my way to work).
I did the most research I have ever done and for the first time voted on manifestos rather than who I have always voted for. I ended up doing a breakdown of the headline items and decided if I agreed with it, wasn’t worried, or disagreed and then voted on who got the most agrees and fewest disagrees. It was reasonably close but there was a clear winner for me.

Tiredandgrumpytonight · 12/12/2019 07:40

Thanks!

NeverTwerkNaked · 12/12/2019 07:41

Read operation yellowhammer. And bear in mind that it is agreed that the current For withdrawal agreement will have broadly the same consequences as a no deal brexit. Then consider whether you think that is going to be a good thing for the country.

We are doing emergency planning for the tory brexit deal. That is Not Normal.

Meadowland · 12/12/2019 07:41

If you want to prevent this country from economic, and social chaos, please vote tactically to get Boris out.
Whichever candidate has the best chance of defeating the Tories in your area.

FoamingAtTheUterus · 12/12/2019 07:44

LeggyLinda did you read the article about the 10 year old girl whose sister died ? Her mum had to give up work to care for her, despite her child trying to raise funds to pay for her funeral quite literally from her deathbed her mum ended up in a lot of debt burying her.

Whilst she was meant to be grieving and supporting her younger child who by the way is now getting bullied because they're so poor her mum was forced back into work, but that isn't enough. Thanks to the universal credit system she's still poor. And will skip meals so her younger child has enough to eat.

That's why we need to vote labour, if you don't want to vote labour than fine. But don't vote for the current shit show.

SlightlyWizened · 12/12/2019 07:44

If Labour came second in the last election in my area but LibDems are reported to be best chance of beating tories this time who do I believe?

BabySharksMummyShark · 12/12/2019 07:50

Im the same op, i have researched and researched, done quizs on who i should vote for, read the manifestos and still cant decide.

I just tried the tactical voting and as i thought we are safe tory seat so voting tactically is pointless.

I am fed up and disillusioned this vote is important to me but its a pointless vote, i can make no difference.

SnorkMaiden81 · 12/12/2019 07:53

I find it worrying that on election morning, following everything that has come to pass and all the time we've had to consider and look into this, that people are still going to vote with literally no idea, having done zero research.

I'm ALL for using your vote and have already cast mine, but this shouldn't be a coin toss or personality contest. Dear god! Do some research!

bumbleymummy · 12/12/2019 07:54

@BabySharksMummyShark You don’t know how many other people in your area are voting tactically too. You could all make a big dent.

Meadowland · 12/12/2019 07:54

@BabySharksMummyShark. If everyone who thought voting tactically was pointless, but voted tactically anyway, it could make a big difference.
Steve Coogan has summed it up well. As has Deborah Meadon.

JeffreeStar · 12/12/2019 07:55

The bbc have a link with each party’s policy’s read it and decide.

Meadowland · 12/12/2019 07:56

@bumblemummy. Crossposted- my thoughts exactly !!

Littletabbyocelot · 12/12/2019 07:57

As the polls are suggesting either a hung parliament or a Tory majority, if you want lib dem but can't vote for them then a vote for Labour is your best bet

noblegiraffe · 12/12/2019 08:00

@SlightlyWizened you can look at the polling data for your constituency here: yougov.co.uk/uk-general-election-2019/#uk-elections-constituency-search-anchor (scroll down a bit to put your postcode in).

It will tell you whether Lib Dems really are in with a better chance than Labour this time.

CodenameVillanelle · 12/12/2019 08:01

If Johnson wins a majority he will own the media and the narrative; he has threatened to shut down the bbc and channel 4, he has shut down parliament, he has purged the party of any moderates. It will be hell.
Whereas if Corbyn wins he will have a small minority, will have to make a deal with another party as well as having scepticism from most of the media and many of his own MPs. He would not be able to push through the worst of the hard left policies that are scaring people.
Vote labour to stop Johnson the even megalomaniac.

wafflyversatile · 12/12/2019 08:04

If Labour came second in the last election in my area but LibDems are reported to be best chance of beating tories this time who do I believe? reported by who? libdems have been claiming in local leaflets that they are the only people who can beat blah blah when they were in distant third. I'd go with last election results. Big swings are unusual. So unless the last results had all three close then choose who was 2nd.

BabySharksMummyShark · 12/12/2019 08:05

Thanks @bumbleymummy and @Meadowland that is very true! I didnt even think of that!

I have made mind up 😊
