She posted this in response to the boy who was being treated for pneumonia on the floor. Disgusting to see how many people support her

“Hearing opinions that you don't agree with is far more healthy (and valuable) than living in an echo chamber.“
I agree. But I know what racists think. I have no need to listen to any more.

andpancakesforbreakfast · 12/12/2019 13:32

Nope- that offends me.

ok, but then again, so what?
It doesn't give you an excuse to be abusive towards another person (generic "you"), or it goes completely against the point you are trying to make. Some of the posts are way worst than anything KH or other have ever said.

It's funny in a way, accusing someone of being a troll when you are one yourself. (again, generic you)

PBo83 · 12/12/2019 13:35

If you are referring to Katie Hopkins, I don't see any evidence of her being racist (unless I missed something).

Really? There are posts about her on here worse than calling refugees cockroaches or saying there should be a final solution for Muslims? I must have missed them....

TheMarzipanDildo · 12/12/2019 13:42

PBo83 What?! She’s entitled to free speech and all but I’m pretty sure the ‘final solution’ for Muslims idea can’t be construed in any other way then racist.

astralweaks · 12/12/2019 13:42

I agree with that. It’s obviously healthier to be informed. The alternative - or the compulsion to keep people ignorant of all views - is very scary.

I'm not aware of this comment, I'll look it up.

(although, if I fancy being pedantic, Islam isn't a race)

BertrandRussell · 12/12/2019 13:45

As I said- I don’t have a problem with people having different opinions to me.

astralweaks · 12/12/2019 13:46

Just because YOU know what racists think, does not make it acceptable for you to deny other people this knowledge. Adults in a democracy have the right to be informed. It is not for others to decide what they should and should not know.

CSIblonde · 12/12/2019 13:52

I'm not interested in the opinions of a bitter & twisted narcissist who's been photo'd by The Sun, naked & shagging a married guy in a field next to her local pub. She should be tending her own rather obvious issues, not making a career by stirring up shit. What a great example for her kids.

Mayorquimby2 · 12/12/2019 13:56

"And once it had gone viral pretty much every party was called on to comment about it - ignoring it would have looked ridiculous."

Not if you just put it in your pocket

Monsterinmyshoe · 12/12/2019 13:58

Well it just confirms to me she is desperate for money and can't get a proper job. Poor woman must be broke and needing to flog her soul to make money. Is she financially as well as morally bankrupt now? I guess she is just hoping for a Piers Morgan grilling or some reality TV offer. I don't believe she is ideal panto or channel 5 "Celebrity Wank Swap" reality TV fodder though, so she is a bit fucked. She might make it on to Celebrity Naked Attraction at some point. I'm pretty sure she would do it.

If her an fails, she could try claiming Universal Credit 😂

StarbucksSmarterSister · 12/12/2019 14:00

It's the use of that photo to sell a party that is vile

The mother sent the photo to the local press. Not a party.

Indeed. But the first woman to say it was fake has a son who is pals with Matt Hancock. Funny that.

And yes Hopkins is vile. Mind you Allison Pearson is catching up fast.

What do you think final solution means, “Alan”

HulksPurplePanties · 12/12/2019 18:36

Let's be very clear about a couple of things.

Because I feel the right twists these.

Disagreeing with a person and saying you disagree with them is not shutting down a conversation or trying to limit their freedom of speech.

Correcting non factual information is not limiting freedom of speech.

Telling people that what they are saying is racist or bigotted, when there is evidence to back this up, is not shutting down speech.

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom from challenge, fact checking, our out right calling it what it is.

Freedom of speech does not mean freedom of platform.

Freedom of speech does not mean I have to be polite to you. That's just insane.

EntropyRising · 13/12/2019 07:48

Love this. Wink

All these 'facts' you refer to are no doubt not facts at all but rather opinions masquerading as facts.

IMO Katie Hopkins has some pretty suspect views (actually, I hear of her only on MN, I'm not extremely familiar with her) but surely it's more sensible to just ignore her rather than trying to 'fact check' a set of inherently subjective statements.

Where she says things that are actually factually incorrect (e.g. '94% of the NHS budget is allocated to treat obesity' or 'the NHS now offers FGM'), then she can be sued and/or censured by the relevant broadcasting authorities.
