Is anyone else in the same situation and have no idea who the hell to vote for??

I am so confused Confused

I had a go at one of those "quizzes", read thr policies and ticked which ones applied to my thinking and the result was 28% Conservative, 28% Labour and 28% Lib Dem (can't remember what the remaining percentage was).

I don't want to not vote, but truly worried about making the wrong choice!!

If I were you I wouldn't vote if I really had no idea and the quiz results were equal. (Have you checked the quiz results change by changing some answers? It doesn't just assume anyone doing it is totally undecided does it?)

Vote on Brexit. Do you want to leave the EU or not?

If you want to leave the EU vote Tory. If you want to stay vote either Lib Dem or labour depending which one is stronger in your seat.

Brexit is the most important issue because if we leave it can’t be undone.

BlueGingerale · 11/12/2019 08:19

Not that ‘get Brexit done’ means Brexit will be over. It means the start of 5-10 years of negotiations with every country in the world.

AiryFairyMum · 11/12/2019 08:22

Do you have children? You can see how their school would be impacted by each party here schoolcuts.org.uk/schools/

MrsJoshNavidi · 11/12/2019 08:24

Do you have a house you'd like to leave to your family? Vote Conservative.

girlie123 · 11/12/2019 08:26

@airyfairymum - I do have children, and education is one of the main issues for me, along with brexit, the NHS and taxes x

MolyHolyGuacamole · 11/12/2019 08:27

Well based on your concerns, that at least confidently eliminates the tories Wink

SimonJT · 11/12/2019 08:27

If you choose not to vote for one of the big three think about an independent, the number of votes they get determines whether or not they have their ‘entry’ fee refunded.

Random18 · 11/12/2019 08:31

Which party do you believe?

Look at some full facts organisations etc who challenge the claims made by the parties.

That is especially true for the Tories as 88% of their adverts in social media were misleading.

But no party has exactly showered themselves in glory.

For me, I will go for the least worse option and hope he doesn't last particularly long and is replaced by a leader in find more competent.

BlueGingerale · 11/12/2019 08:31

The NHS will be better off under labour than under Tory.

I don’t know what your view on Brexit is but if you want to remain or a soft Brexit labour is better.

I’m not sure schools will be better off under labour - but they are in the state they are in due to torys.

Taxes are almost certainly not a big deal for you personally if you’re on PAYE. No significant changes with either party.

If you run your own company and earn dividends you will pay more tax under labour.

I can’t actually understand why you’re considering Tory if those are your priorities. Can you explain your thinking?

HideYourBabiesAndYourBeadwork · 11/12/2019 08:34

I do have children, and education is one of the main issues for me, along with brexit, the NHS and taxes

Based on that it’s fair to say you probably wouldn’t want to vote Tory then?

Random18 · 11/12/2019 08:41

How do you think things have been for the last 9 years. Do you think it's been well run?

Please remember that despite how BJ tries to spin it, he is leading the party that has been in government for 9 years.

AiryFairyMum · 11/12/2019 08:50

The conservatives have had years to get Brexit done. All they've achieved is running down the NHS and screwing up the economy so one in four children are in poverty.
I'm voting labour, because I don't think the country can take five more years of austerity and Tory rule.

DowntownAbby · 11/12/2019 08:51

If you're concerned about taxes - and if you don't want us to go back to the bad old days of the '70s with a collapsed economy (or worse) - avoid Labour.

If you want to see money spent on essential services and everyone having food, etc, avoid the Conservatives.

If you want the government to make actual decisions on anything meaningful, and don't want another referendum, avoid the Lib Dems.

Take your pick...

AiryFairyMum · 11/12/2019 08:52

I also think a peoples vote on brexit is the only answer. Opinions are so divided we need a definitive response based on all the facts.

girlie123 · 11/12/2019 08:54

@BlueGingerale I am definitley not a Tory loverand I don't think I said I would be voting for them! That being said I think you made some good valid points.

Thank you all. In all fairness I've never understood politics and with all the propaganda and mud slinging going on its hard to see the wood for the trees at times.

I believe I hav emade my decision x

I'm not voting, for the first time ever. It pains me to say that as a woman, as I absolutely believe we should vote, given the battles fought in the past to win us that right, but this election I'm politically homeless. Previously I've always voted Labour, but being Jewish, the thought of doing that with Corbyn as their leader is abhorrent to me.

CrossingTheAlpsInOtley · 11/12/2019 08:59

Jeremy Corbyn is a saint and will deliver Utopia.

Everybody else is horrible with no redeeming features at all.

The Gospel Acccording to Mumsnet.

Hope that helps

girlie123 · 11/12/2019 09:01

@dickambush I feel your pain.

From speaking with friends and colleagues I feel a lot of them are in the same position, the main parties appear to have nothing singling them out as the party to vote for. I personally dislike Corbyn, and have an equal dislike for Johnson....

Well put, that helps massively Grin

No one can really advise anyone else how to vote.

I am voting for the party whose overall philosophy and guiding principles align with what I believe to be best for our society overall.

SimonJT · 11/12/2019 16:30

@DickAmbush Do you have an independent you could vote for to increase their chance of having their ‘entry’ fee refunded?

MistyCloud · 11/12/2019 16:54

YANBU.

MistyCloud · 11/12/2019 16:55

@girlie123 YANBU. I am also lost. And I have also done a few of those 'whoisidewith' type things and they come up with similar things - 40-50% in agreement with 3 or 4 parties!!! Hmm

I loathe Corbyn and think Labour are ludicrously too far left-wing, militant, and borderline communist. They hate the rich.

Conservative hate the poor, and the benefit cuts/cruel disability assessments/bedroom tax etc, have been so horrible.

Lib dems. Nope. Jo Swinson is batshit, and her views are all over the place. Wants to cancel Brexit, but also would blow up anyone who pisses her off. And would climb into bed (politically) with anyone who wants her.

Greens. Just pretty much obsessed with a greener life, and the environment and not much else, except cancelling Brexit.

Brexit Party. If I wanted to vote for them I couldn't, as they are not standing in my area as it's a very safe Tory seat.

So I am stuck! It's only tomorrow, and I still have no idea who to vote for. Sad Never voted Tory in my life, but can't vote for Labour as they're waaaaay too left wing. And at least if Tory get a landslide, Brexit will get sorted, and hopefully Corbyn will be a goner, and I KNOW the Tories will win in my area anyway. So that is tempting, but I hate the Tories. ARGH!
