Voting....

Is anyone else in the same situation and have no idea who the hell to vote for??

I am so confused Confused

I had a go at one of those "quizzes", read thr policies and ticked which ones applied to my thinking and the result was 28% Conservative, 28% Labour and 28% Lib Dem (can't remember what the remaining percentage was).

I don't want to not vote, but truly worried about making the wrong choice!!

@MistyCloud I hear you! It's really not a cut and dried vote at all. I usually know exactly where I'm going with my vote but feel completely and utterly disheartened and un-impressed with all the parties x

A vote for lib dems or SNP or greens etc makes it more likely that we will have JC as prime minister (!!!!!) a truly terrifying prospect.

There will be tax increases for everyone - including taxes on energy bills, car fuel, air travel, pensions, inheritance..

JC's manifesto will be very expensive for the average household, don't believe anyone who tells you it will only affect higher earners

OverthinkingThis · 11/12/2019 17:03

Brexit is the most important issue because if we leave it can’t be undone

If course it could, if there was enough will from both the EU and the UK. It would take decades and be messy and expensive though.

Do you believe in a fairer, genuinely progressive and more equal society that values and respects all of its members, regardless of background and circumstances they were born to, including women, immigrants, people from BAME backgrounds, people of all faiths (acknowledging all parties have work to do on this), LGBT, children and young people, disabled people and single mothers?

Do you believe in credible plans for a significant increase in the investment in the NHS, so sick children don't have to sleep on the floors of hospitals?

Do you believe in strong policies on climate change - an emergency that impacts us all?

Do you believe in smaller class sizes in schools, for investment in crumbling school buildings, for more funding for children with Special Educational Needs, for free university education?

If your answer is yes to any of the above, vote Labour.

Do you wish for the current leadership whose tenure has been characterised by blatant lies and false promises, treating voters and journalists with contempt, whose campaign has been underlined by fearmongering, division and polarisation to continue?

Are you in favour of racism, sexism, xenophobia, homophobia and dangerous attitudes that seek to question the right of EU citizens to consider this country their home and create hatred, fear, suspicion and division between people?

Do you believe in the biggest lie of all: that 'Get Brexit Done' will unleash any potential or take the country forward? It will sever all existing trading relationships - not only with EU but other countries too. Negotiating new ones will take a very long time and the success of these will depend on the consent of the negotiating partners. Prolonged uncertainty, with the future of the NHS on the line.

If yes to any of the above, vote for the Conservative Party, now so far-right that even lifelong Tories such as John Major urge you to vote against them.

And if still uncertain, watch this: twitter.com/jeremycorbyn/status/1204728905766227969.

@SimonJT, sadly not. It honestly sticks in my throat, the fact that there's absolutely nobody I'm even semi-comfortable voting for. I don't remember any previous election that was quite so dismal in that sense!

detachablehoof · 11/12/2019 17:19

@enigma16 def not a momentum bot are you 😅

ilovetinsel · 11/12/2019 17:48

Please vote for a party that wants to fund social services, the police, education, the NHS, the emergency services, tackle inequality, save the planet you live on & your children will inherit. Someone who wants a kinder world.
I’m not actually telling anyone to vote labour. It would be better to vote tactically if you live in a swing seat.
Please do consider what this government has done and vote for policies not personalities.

CrossingTheAlpsInOtley · 12/12/2019 11:06

Don't vote for Labour. Under JC, it will be like voting for a group of slightly dim sixth formers, who have just read, 'Animal Farm' and totally misunderstood it.

They are a bit thick but savvy enough to know that if they promise the moon on a stick, many daft people will swallow that wholesale.

The best way to dismantle education and health is to put it in the hands of a bunch of gobshites led by Gobshite in Chief Corbyn.

StarUtopia · 12/12/2019 11:12

Vote Conservative. HTH.

Dianne Abbott for Home Secretary?? Let that sink in.

Skyejuly · 12/12/2019 11:15

Education and NHS and also green issues should require a labour vote.

CrossingTheAlpsInOtley · 12/12/2019 11:40

year aho, Screaming Lord Sutch of the Raving Monster Looney Party used to stand in elections for a laugh.

He didn't expect to be taken seriously and part of his Monster Raving Looney Party "manifesto" was to declare that there would be more money for everyone and lots and lots of free hings for all.

It was a joke but here, in 2019, a mainstream party-Labour- is putting forward his manifesto for real.

What does that tell you?

It's easy to promise more, more more for everyone-you just open your gob and do it!

What is astonishing is the amount of people who will believe this Jackanory bollocks.

Don't be one of them.

I don't get all the terror of JC. I'm far more scared of Boris - and in particular the ERG gang.

Anyway I have voted.

Screaming Lord Sutch of the Raving Monster Looney Party used to stand in elections for a laugh was on the ballot paper for me today

Erm so were the Tories. After a near decade of austerity they're suddenly opening the caskets of wealth. Not that I believe a word of it.

CrossingTheAlpsInOtley · 12/12/2019 11:49

It must have been easy to confuse the two but I hope you made the right choice and voted for the Raving Monster Looney Party!

SpoonBlender · 12/12/2019 12:15

Monster Raving Loony Party for the win. Screaming Lord Sutch was far more sane and sensible than our blue/red/yellow leaders currently, and had better policies.

Personally, I'm voting against Brexit. While holding my nose.
