i have so many deadlines coming up . I never do my work or revise though and it pisses me off . i think about the work all day but never do it. I hate that i don't have the motivation and dedication to do anything and thats why i'm failing

@KTyoupigeon OK thankyou I will. & it's because I haven't declared it on my ucas form because I sent it off a month ago and now have offers without them knowing that. Thank you so much for your advice I really appreciate it ❤️

Just be really honest with the gp about what’s been happening and be open to their suggestions.

Have you got a tutor at college?

Xzyxzyu111 · 10/12/2019 17:50

I shouldn't have told him now it's on my health records I have to declare it to my uni and future employers won't give me a job. Should've listened to my parents 😔

It’s fine. Plenty of doctors and nurses have mental health issues on their health records.

The problem comes when you ignore it.

PurpleDaisies · 10/12/2019 17:55

What did the doctor recommend to help you?

Xzyxzyu111 · 10/12/2019 17:58

@PurpleDaisies he said he would refer me for therapy and that he didn't think I had ADHD

I'm just scared because I have to declare this to my uni now

I'm just scared because I have to declare this to my uni now.

Honestly, it will be absolutely fine. No one talks about it, but lots and lots of people have this on their medical records.

Xzyxzyu111 · 10/12/2019 18:14

@purpledaisies thankyou for the advice u have given me through the whole thread. U encouraged me to go to the doctor and I'm happy with the outcome hopefully as long as it doesn't affect my uni.
Thankyou so much

I had to set alarms, not just timers but alarms. Eg. 10am: start assignment 1. 10:45: break. 11am: revise X subject, Y topic. 12: lunch 12:30: assignment 1. 1:30: break. 1:45: revise subject X, Z topic etc.

And just really stuck to it. I disabled all social media accounts too so I couldn't be distracted and used my breaks effectively, rather than making excuses in the middle of the "work" times ("just need the toilet then will do work". "I'll start work when I've made this coffee", none of that, just did those things on the breaks and worked solidly during the alarms for working)

Illcallbacklater · 10/12/2019 18:41

I've also never once had to declare a diagnosis to an employer, and you don't have to declare it to uni unless you want ALS, I'm pretty sure. At least was the case at my uni!

Xzyxzyu111 · 10/12/2019 18:48

@illcallbacklater for nursing there is an occupational health check and I'm worried because u have to tell them about mental health issues which I completely understand because ur going to be working with vulnerable people

OP posts:
Xzyxzyu111 · 10/12/2019 18:49

@Illcallbacklater and thankyou I will try that

OP posts:
Illcallbacklater · 10/12/2019 19:25

Ah yes, I do get that. I know a nurse who works in mental health nursing with a diagnosis of BPD so I don't think it'll be as limiting as you think, a lot of people are affected by mental illness and the attitudes surrounding it are far more accepting than they used to be, it's not as stigmatised as some people think. You will be fine, you're taking the first steps and that's the main thing. Utilise all the support you're offered at uni, tooFlowers

Xzyxzyu111 · 10/12/2019 20:09

@illcallbacklater aahh thankyou that's reassuring. Thanks for the advice as well ❤️
