To feel hungover after 2 cocktails?

followthefairytalexx · 07/12/2019 15:22

I am only 22, I had two cocktails last night to avoid being hungover. I have woke up today with a definite hangover! It's not awful but definitely there. Why would that happen?

What sort of cocktail we talking? Could be anything between 2 shots and half a pint of tequila

Confusedbeetle · 07/12/2019 15:38

This is a good thing, your body is telling you you drank poison. Cocktails can be lethal

Confusedbeetle · 07/12/2019 15:39

Next time have two halves of beer

socksforchristmas · 07/12/2019 15:39

This is me. I always make sure I have plenty of water to drink in the day, always make sure I eat a meal, drink water when I get home but always feel hungover even after just one drink. No idea why

tttigress · 07/12/2019 15:42

How strong where these cocktails though?

3 drinks now make me feel awful, but I am in my 40s.

It amazes me how some people can drink so much.

followthefairytalexx · 07/12/2019 15:43

Not very strong I didn't even get tipsy!

MrsAgassi · 07/12/2019 15:43

Depends what they were. They can contain 4 measures of spirits so they’re not a light option in terms of alcohol content.

followthefairytalexx · 07/12/2019 15:48

They are 2 units each apparently.

OP posts:
RuggerHug · 07/12/2019 15:50

Was there tonic water in them?

U2HasTheEdge · 07/12/2019 15:50

Perhaps you just have a virus?

blackpinkinyourarea · 07/12/2019 15:50

Are you sure you arent coming down with something? 4 units wouldnt give me even the slighest sniff of a hangover!!

followthefairytalexx · 07/12/2019 15:51

No tonic water. Nope definitely a hangover I can tell. Maybe its some sort of alcohol intolerance because I can easily feel sick from one drink too straight after.

I have nights like this - can go out and be smashed and wake up the next day feeling absolutely fine. Can only have a couple of drinks and feel like death. I just think your body reacts differently sometimes

roiseandjim · 07/12/2019 16:06

I had a banging headache this morning after 2 GnTs yesterday! It dosent normally effect me!

MoveOnTheCards · 07/12/2019 18:34

I can have a fair few cocktails with a gin or tequila base and feel ok the next day. 1 or 2 with vodka and I’m a mess in the morning. What were you drinking?

DisappearingGirl · 07/12/2019 18:36

I think you can be much more sensitive to alcohol at certain times of the month!

MrsTerryPratchett · 07/12/2019 18:37

Were they sugary cocktails? The sugar dehydrates me as well so double the effect.

Morgenrot · 07/12/2019 18:38

Only 2 units in a cocktail? Are you sure?

CheesePleaseLoueese · 07/12/2019 18:42

It's easy to get a hangover on just 2 drinks if you were drinking on an empty stomach/ had a low blood sugar, etc ...

olivo · 07/12/2019 18:46

I have had a hangover when they have used really cheap spirits in the cocktails ☹️. Thought the price was too good to be true!

JeezyPeeps · 07/12/2019 18:46

I have a friend who would get hungover after very little - turns out it was an allergy rather than a hangover. I think to sulphites iirc. She can drink now, but just has to be careful as to what - some things are ok.

Could it be something like that?

Bluntness100 · 07/12/2019 18:48

Op, did you have disrupted sleep? Lack of sleep and if you're dehydrated can feel, very like a hangover.

HarrietTheFly · 07/12/2019 18:50

Like a pp said, my thought is that it's an allergy. I think I have a sulphite allergy or something like that. I've thrown up from half a glass of wine, on other occasions have come up in hives and the last time I drank wine (about a year ago) I had about half of a glass of wine before passing out and woke up feeling horrific the next day.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 07/12/2019 18:50

Yup Sulphites can make you feel like death as can rancid cheap alcohol (non branded spirits that are used in 2 for 1 cocktails). I avoid those type of drinks in bars as they are made eye wateringly strong and generally headache inducing.
Hope you feel better OP!

IHaveBrilloHair · 07/12/2019 18:53

The only alcohol I can cope with is lager and tequila, I rarely drink tequila because watching telly with shots on my own is just weird.
Any other alcohol kills me.
